[BOOF] Blackeon [BOOF] Players 139 posts 10,411 battles Report post #1 Posted November 9, 2021 I do wonder how many people were playing the special Halloween Operations as for my clan they just drained any real interest. This was compounded by the fact they were there for so long. Can we please have less of this kind of rubbish! Overall just hated them as Operations and felt less motivation to play. 7
[I-J-N] Karasu_Browarszky [I-J-N] Players 13,025 posts Report post #2 Posted November 9, 2021 I played one such this year. Have no real interest in them, just the occasional curiosity. The biggest drawback they put the regular operations on hold... how many weeks is this 'halloween' anyway?
[PEZ] Yedwy Players 11,301 posts 39,586 battles Report post #3 Posted November 9, 2021 At least the old ops are kinda already traditional and kinda draws inspiration form Halloween idea, in the meanwhile the sf rubbish hardly makes any connection with Halloween in my mind, an april fools stuff Imho… That said I didn’t play much either just played them 2 many times for if to be interesting to me in the past Years…
SodaBubbles Players 1,553 posts 1,028 battles Report post #4 Posted November 9, 2021 I didn't play them on NA or EU. Just felt payoff for amount of time invested was too little, dont see them as fun. Sure wish they had put that effort into creating T5-9 operations for the regular server.

[SM0KE] Verblonde Players 9,787 posts 20,664 battles Report post #6 Posted November 9, 2021 I think I had a couple of goes on the original Halloween Op, whatever that's called, plus maybe another couple on the big sci-fi map thing. For me, they were too similar to previous years' editions (for obvious reasons in the former case), and the return on the time needed wasn't really worth it; there may also be an element - in my case - that I'm less enthused about WOWS at the moment, due to submarines. Even though these special modes don't have submarines in, I'm less motivated to play the game for extended periods, which means special modes have to be particularly worthwhile even without submarines. To a degree, I'm also rationing my time in game anyway; I'll have quite a lot of playing to do with the upcoming snowflakes, and I want to avoid it becoming too much of a chore, which - again - works against playing Halloween Ops...

Even kids don’t like this kids mode. I let my niece and nephew play it and they left the mode with disgust after a few minutes. They ocassionally enjoy regular ship play. 2

[SINT] Jvd2000 Players 1,639 posts 31,173 battles Report post #13 Posted November 10, 2021 Played none. I remember the bad teams of years ago and decided that these scenarios are not worth the time investment. Like even worse then 2 of the T6 normal scenarios… So only result of these 5 weeks is me being annoyed because normal scenarios not being available at the time while I still have a lot of dragon flags and premium left from the anniversary. As a PvE player I am currently leveling the T8 ITA BB, NL cruisers, the T7 new German BC and theT6 Sov CV. The latter 2 can be directly leveled in scenarios in an efficient way, the first 2 are so underwhelming that I prefer to farm FXP and silver in scenarios and outright FXP both lines.
[BOATY] Shaka_D Alpha Tester, Players, In AlfaTesters, Weekend Tester 3,691 posts 15,960 battles Report post #14 Posted November 10, 2021 Yeh, I think I played 3 battles and then gave up. This sort of sci-fi'esk thing doesn't interest me at all, otherwise I'd be playing warhammer games or battlefleet gothic or something more. I'm into the more historically looking / original version of the game rather than any of the fanciful associations we've been part of, though I know many others enjoy this kind of thing. Glad I can opt out and still enjoy the version of the game I prefer. Anyone else here waiting on Company of Heroes 3? Can't wait for that to get released.
[NMA] Prophecy82 Players 3,362 posts 26,028 battles Report post #15 Posted November 10, 2021 I see no debacle here. I like the halloween OPS and I think they are a nice addition and somewhat of a tradition. Also there were a few missions to do gazillion DMG with Torps and Guns which could be easily done there. The real debacle is the Twilighthunt-Mode. Such a lackluster asset-flip of a mode that wasnt very fun the first time. The rewards are completely underwhelming and after getting the few Pumpkin-Lootboxes (the only thing worth imo) I was done with it for good. Sitting on 120 Lame-o-Tokens with nothing to buy... will spend them on the also lackluster camos I guess... Remember the mode with NorCa that could get a salvo of laser-guided shells? That was fun! Remember Madmax Torpedo beats? That was fun! Maybe its me, but I never found the sci-fi-style fitting for WoWS. Monster/Steampunk/Diselpunk style fits imo way better and I like it.
[LAI] Nagine Beta Tester 680 posts 3,140 battles Report post #16 Posted November 10, 2021 I myself liked this mode due to aesthetics and different gameplay, so was happy that WG brought it back. Variety and options are always good (noone is forcing to play additional modes and they are basically a copy-paste in terms of development resources). However, I would also like to have those kiddie non-manly bathtub boats to come back as a special event...

I like more or less historically accurate ships and battles, so each and every "style" added by WG is ignored by me, be it loliboats, Waaaaargh Orks, Monster Movie creatures standing on ships or whatever. [1701] XDMeloniXD Players 195 posts 17,359 battles Report post #20 Posted November 10, 2021 To be honest, I am one of the people that really enjoy the halloween operations. I have never grown out of them and quite frankly prefer them over the newer "key battle"-type events. Yes. We exist. The true halloween debacle is the new halloween boxes. The camos have an unbeliavably small chance of dropping camos this time around, almost to the point of it being a scam. (Yes I fell for this scam, but come on! The boxes the last years have had way higher chances of dropping a camo. This year it's next to 0)
[GEUS] Purnylla [GEUS] Players 1,105 posts 25,180 battles Report post #21 Posted November 10, 2021 I usually like operations. I've played both Halloween operations once. The reason is I can only play them with silly temporary event ships. I would've loved taken my own ships into these operations and earn some XP on those ships. I'd certainly would've played them more often.

[E-R-W] SilentEnimLegesInterArma Players 327 posts 19,573 battles Report post #24 Posted November 10, 2021 i actually played it quite a lot and only killed Rasputin once, since I normally went for the players. You can notice how they play in random... and are easy pickings in this mode. (same as with the Grand Battle or what it was called. Enter Benham and go Ham) I usually let me get killed with 5000 points after 5 minutes by a bot (just the quickest way) and the daily missions are ok enough to not to engange in random. 'specially on weekends

I like more or less historically accurate ships and battles, so each and every "style" added by WG is ignored by me, be it loliboats, Waaaaargh Orks, Monster Movie creatures standing on ships or whatever. When one of these distant voyages crates dropped a weird monster camo for my Bismarck, I was disgusted to a point where I nearly refused to actually mount it. In the end, my ship wears this Cephalopod thingy, making it driving around with broken, holes sides and belching poison green exhaust, as I did not want to discard the economic bonuses. Personally, I draw the line where camos begin to actually modify the ship model. Borderline OK is eg. the Eagle thing on Cleveland, beyond OK is the "SPQR" ensign on Vittorio Veneto. Whereas the paintwork "Alea jacta est" is nice eyecandy, I'm frowning every time at the flag when I dare take the Veneto out for a ride. Monster weirdness is unwanted for me. About Steampunk and consorts: I'd rather have WoWS as a somewhat arcadey naval simulator of sorts, so protecting a Great Eastern hull in a Van-Helsing-eske environment and getting shot at by trebuchets is something far off the theme of the game that should be observed. The Halloween modes dearly lack incentives to actually play them - made a single digit amount of passes in the Escort setting and none in the other offerings. I'm longing for and looking forward to Narai, again. Regards, Nightowl
