WoWS on Life Support (or worse)?

So, with 10K players on (& dropping) I random up a T3 ship.

So, what is in the queue?

8 CVs and some BBs & Cruisers but, surprisingly no DDs  (both the BBs & Cruisers had less than 8, btw).

Hence, I cancelled out. Who wants to play with that many vulture T4 CVs looking to feast on your flesh?

So, what is this? The death of low tier play? Low tier play on Life Support? Or worse - the death of WoWS?

It's just no skill/no idea noobs thinking they'll pwn everyone by flying planes in a boat game.
When they realise (and I pray some of them do) they suck at CVs, they'll try subs.
And we all know they'll suck even more, but they'll bring so much cash knowledge and skill to the game that weegee will find a way to reward ineptitude

That would be the griefers, you know the same lot subs are made for as they are incapable od performing even against the token aa that exists on the higher tiers, they simply “cannot play” if there is any opposition to overcome, problem is there is so many of them nowadays WG devs are catering to their needs…

low tier small numbers of players have been that for many years now. to be honest it is boring to play them, nowdays i free exp to tier 5 or 6 then start playing, who wants to lose time on that tier when there is so much free exp around.

I play a lot of T1, there are also zero DDs. It's a mess.

WG is like a junkie gradually destroying their health. They need their fix no matter what.

Who in the right mind plays below T5?

Besides actually grinding the tech lines, which is also questionable with all the early access events.

It *used* to be fun. Hectic melees where torpedo ships were kings. Then it got spoilt by Hosho seal clubbing.

Yup - And when Hosho got nerfed, the seal clubbers left en masse; the number of Hosho's in game (double Hosho was a regular occurrence pre-nerf) was decimated, even the number of double CV games went down (still too high IMHO).

The main problem of low tiers IMHO is the fact they dont count towards the daily missions and I suspect WG is not changing that because of corporate greed,  they want people to go into the +-2 tier part of the MM (T5+) to get frustrated ASAP and possibly open the wallet, there are number of fun lower tier ships and premiums even but no real use for them, they dont even give flakes for them anymore...

It was basically good fun for everyone in those days. Unfortunately for me, perhaps, it was a little too much fun and I never could adapt to the change of game play on the tiers higher up.

I tend to prefer mid-tier battles. The gameplay at higher tiers is generally better, yes, but also more predictable since most everyone knows where to go and how best to respond in any given situation. Lower down you can get those wonderful surprises when people do the unexpected and things turn around all at once. The pacing is often better as well, since people are more inclined to take chances and dash right in (for better and for worse).

There is also of course the fact that I personally still don't quite pull my own weight at the top tiers; I tend to handle myself best at tiers 5-7 (tier 8 at a pinch). But that's on me, obviously.

Tiers 3-4 can be good fun unless you get double CV:s. If you do get double CV:s nothing much is very fun, not even for those CV:s.

Here you have a point - yes low Tiers need support desperately!

I do not play below T5 for the obvious reason that it do not count towards missions but there are other reasons:

- BB guns are absurdly inaccurate

- invisible DDs that reload torps faster than many ships guns

- too many cvs around. They are not particularly strong, but with no AA on those tiers they are super annoying to the level of gamebraking especially as there are 2 of them almost in every match. Even as a person who often play CVs at higher tiers, I think T4 carriers should be removed.

So when I start a new line I always go from T5 or even T6...

But this would create a paradise... and WG do not want us to live in paradise.

If there were no CVs I'd play T4 several games a day. It used to be a ton of fun, and Ishi was one of my favorite ships. But then the Rework wrecked it....

AFAIK BB guns share the same accuracy across the tiers so the T3 ones are every bit as accurate as the ones at T10.

What's different is that the T3 ships are much smaller targets than the T10 ones, thus the inaccuracy is much more obvious.

The game is layed out to be played at T10. Every lower tier is to be seen only as a step towards T10.

Consider how much WG cares for the lower tiers ... especiallly below T5 .No new maps there since centuries. No perma camos.

I am interested in all naval History. Always have been.

I am particularly interested in REAL ships - the type that you (generally) find in lower tiers.

(Yes, the "projects" and ""uncompleted" ships are interesting also - but not as much as real ships IMHO)

That is why I wish that WG would do something for lower tiers.

The Dreadnought era-reduced the number of nations with serious fleets IMHO. The late 19th Century / Early 20th Century had more navies to choose from, with more ships - plenty of scope for generating interest world-wide. :Smile_Default:

Good points, all!

I have been hoping that we would get to see a few of those French pre-dreadnoughts in WowS, you know the ones Drachinifel describes in his video on "When Hotels go to War". Imagine all those little secondaries firing away at everything in sight! :Smile_playing:
