Hello chiefs,

I remember once about 3 years ago or so looking for something to see about the Bismarck on Youtube, typing it on the search bar and there was a video of some dude named Flambass playing a game with ships, and using the Bismarck. I was immediatly mesmerized, it almost felt like magic, like the game I've looking for all my life. And got hooked to WoWs videos without actually playing the game (I didn't have a powerful enough PC). And BOUGHT a PC specially to play this game, yes... that's right.

Crazy uh?

Was playing Warthunder. Watched videos from Jingles from time to time and one day he made a video about WoWs.

I actively played World of Tanks when I got invited to participate in the World of Warships beta. Did a few battles, it was okay, but I went back to tanks.

Years later, when I stopped playing WoT for a few years, I wanted to try out Warships again. Not sure what actually led me to try it again, but this time I stayed. :)

I have interest about 20th century ships for 2-3 years. Mostly normal vessels.

During pandemic, i had interested about WW2-WW1 era battleships. And naval battles.

And i have searched is there's a game that based on exactly WW1-WW2 era's warships, i found this game, watches gameplays for bit and decided to give it a try. Eventually, it was a great experience to drive historical ships. Having Co-op mode is one of the best things for me as i don't like PvP.

Been playing for nearly 1 year now.

Jingles

I played some fighter plane simulators growing up: European Air War, EF 2000, something with the F-22...

Among the mix of games I've had over the years (RTSs like AoE and its successors; FPSs like Half Life, the Halo series, Medal of Honor; some RPGs and then PES), I kind of lost track of WW2 games, especially flight simulators.

Then around 2014-2016 I saw some footage of things like IL-2, Rise of Flight, etc. on Youtube, and I was very impressed with the graphics.

Soon I started getting Jingles' 45 minute WoT videos in my feed: the exhaustive tank reviews were frankly boring and unappealing (and that hangar looked claustrophobic, tbh), but the gameplay looked fun. Plus, I'd never had the multiplayer  experience before, other than something like DN3D on LAN. Still, I just wasn't into tanks.

But when he started pumping out content about WW1-WW2 era warships, with a nice history segment at the beginning, a moderately-long review (the details on the models were and still are awesome), and then the replays, I got the game.

I read some books and watched documentaries about WW1-WW2 warships growing up, so the setup was familiar.

I'd been watching most of Jingles' playlist, so when I began playing I already had many of the basics, though I'll admit I tried too hard to smoke up my teammates and stuff like that :Smile_child::Smile_facepalm:

Well this takes me back in time.

Back in 2016 i was doing the umpteenth run on Fallout 3, bad character, focused on melee, i was approaching Rivet City to stock up on various stuff and kill some people (xD).

Rivet City for those who don't know and have never played the title is a settlement built on an cv that escaped the nuclear holocaust of 2077 (lore and game story).
Suddenly as i was standing on the deck from which planes once took off suddently i remembered of playing Battlestation Midway and Pacific when i was still a kid and how i was happy on controlling various types of ships like you can do by playing both games.
In short, closed Fallout 3, i tried to install and play Battlestation Pacific but it gave me an error, looking on the internet for a fix, a banner of World of Warships appeared (typical of Google xD) watched some vids and so i set aside Battlestation and started my career here on Wows......

......In hindsight, it was better if i didn't close Fallout 3 xD

I played (not longer existing) War Wings (Warthunder wannabe) on my phone. I was looking for similar vehicle combat games on mobile and found Worlf of Warships Blitz. Then I tried PC version. Mobile WoWS did not have team damage with torpedos. It took me some time to realize what is a problem with my torpedo drops on PC ;)

The Mighty Jingles put some videos on Youtube playing the WoWs Beta (about six and a half years ago I think?). I've had some interest in warships before and the game looked interesting. A couple of months later I gave it a try and it's been with me ever since. Too sad it's been dying down.

immeddiately jumped from WoT circus to this, where it was much less blingbling, lootboxes and not 5000 missions running at the same time.

The above is not valid today and I would've probably not started playing the game now, seeing all the flashy crap at login. I easily avoid games that clearly scream for attention in this way.

Fractured Space - I was a part of the community for that game back when it was a thing (2016/17 -2019) and so when the developers added the games first carrier (Paragon I believe it was called) and made a mess of it (a running theme it seems),  multiple players on the forum at the time pointed towards World of Warships as an example of CV's done right (Irony I know)

So I gave it a try and stuck with it ever since.

The hilarious part is that WarGaming then bought out Edge Case Games (Fractured Spaces developers) and then changed WoWs CV gameplay to be more like what Fractured Spaces was originally like (Facepalm)

Jumped ship from World of Tanks. Most of the community knew about World of Warships being a thing, and it went around as a star citizen like joke. As in a game that will never be released. So when the German cruisers got released I made the switch.

I was searching for some ship info in 2015 when I saw an ad for WoWs. As I am a naval buff decided to give it a go.

In the beginning was the Word.

And the Word was "Jingles".

And Jingles said, "Behold there are Warships".

And I did behold. And I saw Warships.

The Jingles said, "Behold, thou shalt play these ships onlin"

And I did behold.  And I did play these ships online.

And there was a great wailing, and gnashing of teeth!

I believe it was either WoT log in screen advertising about WoWS starting up or it may have been something about WoWS  I came across while internet surfing.

Whichever it was, I fluked into Alpha testing right at it's end so I was able to play enough battles to get the Iwaki Alpha (in NA - this account is now here in Eu :cap_like:).

I always wanted to visit Las Vegas but this comes close second. :cap_cool:

Please find below the optional boring answer. :fish_sleep:

Spoiler

I had started in WoT, and was really excited to see there was going to be a naval game option too. Back then the games also shared common premium time so it was a plus.

From a lot of the responses Jingles has a lot to answer for :cap_haloween::cap_horn:

Shame WG have managed to displease even the Gnome salt mine overlord for WoWS (they'd already done that for WoT a while ago).
