Yes, well... the Spreadsheet shows that's where the money is. Seems that 'money' and 'fun' are polar opposites...

 

OR...

 

Quite possibly the game is intended to be played with a bottle or two of vodka too many...:cap_fainting:

As long as people pay money to play planes and subs, it does not matter to WG if nothing else is played. They will just fill the surface slots with bots.

Secondary CV line with depth charge bombers instead of rocket planes... If people will be playing subs too much - it's going to happen.

Well to inject a bit of seriousness into the discussion ( I know - coming from me...) 

 

The BATTLESHIP was the thing that lured me into WOWS to begin with; in the same way that the TANK was the thing that got me into WoT. The reality is that 95% of the fighting is actually undertaken by DDs and smaller vessels on sea - light vehicles and men with rifles on land - Big-Gun ships and Heavy Tanks are merely the headline acts. However they sell the game to a new-starter.

 

Of course you then play around with the other classes on offer and take it from there. My greatest interest will always be the RN Battleship. I was brought up reading about the WW1 Dreadnaught clashes, the infamous Warspite and it's plot-armour, the Hood (erm...whoops), Duke of York and the North Cape, etc. I like the RN cruisers (again, big gun ships) and the DDs didn't really appeal until I read more about them but I'm sold now....

 

I'm playing to shoot at stuff with guns (perhaps the odd torpedo) and be shot at with guns (and hopefully not too many torpedoes - depends how angry the enemy team are with me). 

 

Carriers? There are elements that very much interest me (mainly the aircraft rather than the ships) but truth be told if I want to play planes I'll sink hours into Il-2, DCS or War Thunder - not muck about in a ships game. 

 

Submarines. Again - I've played every Silent Hunter title many times over, Dangerous Waters, Cold Waters. If I want to play as a submarine doing sneaky submarine-type things I have games that render them soooooo much better. I don't want to muck about with them in a ships game - especially when they are running around like some subsurface cartoon characters.

 

What WG don't seem to 'get' is that the core of their game - the ships blowing the crap out of other ships - is a popular formula. Why try to whack square pegs into round holes and then act all surprised when it goes hilariously wrong?

Yeah... some people may find it difficult to believe now how much promise and potential this game seemed to have back then in 2015...:cap_old:

 

None of these things would be any sort of the problem, not the subs, not the CV's, not the lack of game play options and mish mash of tactics (or completely missing tactics) if they had build this game around the Era concept (with carriers having a hugely prominent role in the mid-to-end of WW2 era), along with separate game modes such as Convoys (prominently featuring subs) and Scenario Battles (Ops) based on scaled down versions of real historical battle scenarios and engagements.

 

All of the above could have been, but wasn't.

Probably would have needed a lot more people in the design department.. modelers... map designers... the works. And such people don't come for free. Which reduce the amount of money available for the things more important for the upper echolons at WG: Vodka, mind enhancing substances and cheap females of negotiable virtue.

CV's Vs subs? One can only hope!

 

But no, they will continue to force these 2 toxic classes onto everyone when it's completely unnecessary.. the old rock, paper, scissors classes worked just fine on their own. :Smile-_tongue:
