Life After The OBT Wipe

So as we all know when open beta hits we will get a reset and get all our gold and premium time back. After buying a few of the premiums I thought I'd give my thoughts on these and ask what are you planning on rebuying after wipe?

 

Warspite. 

Had some fun with this BB until the USA BB's got released. After that it kinda lost its quirkyness with the turn rate so lost some of the appeal for me. Gun turret turn rate never really bothered me as it was quicker to turn the ship and fire then turn back.  Will I rebuy it? No. 

 

Murmansk. 

This I think at tier 5 is very strong. Really enjoy this cruiser. It has great rof and can pepper anything it comes across. Will I rebuy it? Deffinetley. It's a keeper. 

 

Albany. 

Oh dear. I got this as well 500g it's cheap. Dirt cheap. But man that gun range sucks so much. Great looking ship but would I rebuy it even at this cost? No. 

 

 

Gremyashy. 

What a great little DD this is I love it! So glad the rudder shift time was put back as after that nerf it had it was suffering a lot. It's very sneaky with 8km torp range can really make a diff if played well. I admit I'm maybe a bit too pushy with mine but for me it's how I play the lower tier DD's just stuck in.  I bought this with real money and don't regret it. Would I rebuy it if I had to? Deffinetly. 

 

I was curious about the Atlanta but at 9000 gold think this is expensive. Warspite at 7500 would have been same but I did get it on the offer so only paid 5500 ish I think. 

 

So as for regrinding with how far I've already got I will definitely go for IJN BB's, loving these even with the USA release. USA cruisers as that Cleaveland lol. Jap cruisers I dunno. I'm on tier 7 at the mo and will prob unlock the mogami this week and check it out.  USA DD's for sure. Love the fire rate on these ships. Jap DD's yeah prob but won't rush them. Carriers nope. Top down view put me off these from go. Hats off to the players who master these but there not for me. 

 

So that's my choices. What's yours for OBT guys?

Definitely i'll rebuy the Warspite, not tried any other premium ships besides the pre-order Sims & Yubari.

Well, aside from the Yubari that I got from the premium shop, I've been saving my tokens for any possible Bismark or other KM premium that might appear before OBT;

Warspite has it's appeal, but as said above, it seems too similar to the US BB lines, especially untill the tier 7 (one I have now) to make me try it out. But I understand the RN appeal.

I'll be rebuying the Warspite because it's British, and l love the look of it.

 

I'll also be re-buying the Yubari, as it's a great little ship at tier 4.

 

I'll likely grind every line again except IJN carriers as I didn't get on with them at all.

You don't have to rebuy Grem... it's a pr-order ship that would probably disappears from shop when game is release until later. So you wither buy it now and keep it when OBT comes or you won't be able to for a long time. (at least I think)

 

edit: same with Yuubari and Sims.

I don't know yet. After buying it, I had some fun with her, but at this time I didn't really know what I'm doing.

Same here, with present maps it would be a no for the Kitakami but there may be scenarios where she could be useful.

Hmm... I have been wondering this a while now and probably I will go for all IJN classes. I tested US Cruisers and US CVs but IJN versions seemed to be proper ones to me.

With gold I have bought  two premiums at the moment, Aurora and Albany.

Aurora

I like this ship but it is quite slow and it has too many weaknesses (even compared to St Louis). If they give 2-3k HP more to the ship, then I will re-buy it, otherwise no.

 

 

Albany

 

This ship looks show beautiful which is important thing to me, but gun range and HP-pool are the mood killers to me. So I probably will not buy it back. If it would have better armour, range or more HP, I would definitely buy it.

Got the sims and gremmy so will get them back regardless as they're pre order obviously.

 

Warspite: on paper this ship doesn't have a huge amount going for it, and I do worse with it than other similar tiered BB. The new US ships remove some of the uniqueness of its turning.

However, I enjoy playing it and I love seeing those 152mm guns chew up destroyers. Will I re-buy it? Yes.

 

Murmansk: I can't fault this ship. There's nothing wrong with it. But I don't find myself using it, and since tier 5 prems probably wont be the best money grinders, and I have a gremmy for training russian captains, I can't see the point in me rebuying it. Will I rebuy it? No.

 

Atlanta: tier 7 so likely to be a top earner if WG follow their usual economy models. Low shell cost so cheap to resupply. Will watch carefully as it went from not very good appart from situational, to silly good, to not bad. If HE gets highly nerfed it'll be pretty bad.

Will I re-buy it? Potentially

Got the Sims and Warspite...WIll keep the Sims and use gold for premium acc, only need one moneymaker and captain trainer...maybe get warspite again when RN released to train captains.

I've only bought the Murmansk and will get it back after the wipe. Which is bit funny since I really did not like Omaha at all. Perhaps I was just not paying enough attention.

 

For the others. No.

I like how Aurora looks, but what I've read earlier and here, not worth.

idk, saw a few videos, while the torpedo spam is fun, everything else is crap, so i probably won't buy

NOPE.jpg, this ship is...just no, it may only be 500 gold, but the ship itself is so bad, i'm wondering why it's even in the game

 

Atlanta

It's an ok ship, the rate of fire is mucho stronko, the damage is k (HE only, AP forget about it), it's AA is superb and the torps are just a super nice addition to it, overall, it's a buy when the OBT comes, tho the turret destructions and the small range is a bit of a buzz kill

 

Aurora

Haven't played her, but looking at it, it's kind of a St. Louis, no real difference (big atleast)
 

Murmansk

An Omaha with the last hull upgrade, it's good, but for a premium which is a tuned down version of the Omaha, don't think imma buy it, i'll see how my gold is when i buy the ships i want

 

Warspite

Well, the ship is good, but the range is...just no, it might have an amazing turn rate but the turret traverse and the range don't make it worth that much, overall it can dodge incoming shells with ease, but it can get outgunned by any cruiser since it has to get so close to them, they can shoot back

 

For now, i'm only interested in the Atlanta, maybe the Murmansk, others? not so much, we'll see

Warspite.  

 

After recently using Ctrl & X command to set weapons to relative, bringing guns round to bear with battleships when turning tight is a dream as the guns rotate instantly and you're free to look around without delaying the turn.  If I'm in open water and outranged I'll just sail towards you. At 7km my secondaries will start up on anything that gets too close and they're pretty dam accurate and very good at starting fires. The Warspite is a beast and it's main guns will allow you to punch above your weight.  I only worry when I see tier VIII in the enemy team and even then I know I can still hurt them. Heck against high tier cruisers you'll be making them think twice. I'll happily feast on any Destroyers or Cruisers you send my way and will slug it out with the Battleships. She's an awesome ship and easily my favourite now.

 

Range is only a plus when you have the space and you can land your shots. 16 km engagement is more than enough for that tier and within that 16km you're a steal encased god of war ruling the waves and taking names.

 

No point in mentioning the Grem, Yubari or Sims. At the end of CBT they're removed from the store and won't be available for at least a year.

Maybee i am mistaken here but the warspite did not have its turncircle nerf like the rest of the bb's did correct ? meaning it's alone in its agility.

 

I dont own the warspite now but its the one ship that i am intrested in getting.

Have Simms and Gremaschky, tried Atlanta and Warspite but won't buy again. 

 

Hoping we get some free XP, but of not I will probably use most of my gold for additional premium time and free XP ing to get back to the Fletcher, the Fletcher and I'm presuming the tier 10 for me combine the US DD gunboats with the IJN DD long range torps and stealth so once I have those back I don't see a point in grinding the IJN DD tree. 

 

Then I will probably go for Des Moines again if they don't nerf it (23k away from it) and I want the Iowa as it's a beast looking ship.

 

May also go for IJN cruisers.

 

Plus will go for all British ships when they come out. Might get the Bismarck if it's a prem and would love it if there is a prem HMS Belfast.

The only one I've bought in game is the Warspite, and while I do enjoy her, I'm not certain if I'll rebuy her come OBT. Hopefully she'll go on sale, at which point I'll probably pick her up, but at the full price, she's a little to costly for my liking.

 

I'm kinda tempted by the Murmansk, as I thoroughly enjoy playing the Omaha, but on the other hand, I could just keep an elited out Omaha and save my money...

 

Of the preorder ships, defintely think the two destroyers are worth the money I spent, but I'm a little disappointed in the Yubari.

Most important question is:

Will the premium price in OBT+ will be equal to WoT and WoWp or we will be punished for liking a ships instead of tanks and planes?

 

Anyway, if not counting the price:

- Warspite - No. I can get better fun with similar playstyle on New Mexico. Beside, i'm buying premiums for the fun. And the turret traverse on Warspite is torment. If buffed to 50s, then i would reconsider (won't happen so one tempation less for me)

- Murmansk - Yes, it is most balanced premium right now, so i will be probably rebuying it.

- Aurora - No. nice ship, but too fragile.

 

BTW. BUFF ALBANY! A ship so beautiful can't be unplayable!

^ She so isn't.... I had her, demanded a refund, got Atlanta, much happier person now.

 

First problem with Kitakami - she's detectable from space.

Second problem - she's made entirely out of citadels, every single shot you take will be a citadel hit.

Third problem - torpedo range is only 10 km, and her guns are pitiful even when comparing to low level destroyers, so she is unable to consistently fight anything really, she will get outranged by BB's, by destroyers, definitely by cruisers, and since her turning radius is god awful, even carriers will om nom nom on her unfortunately.

 

If her torpedoes were 15km in range, she would be able to fight other cruisers using a little bit of sneakiness, but as she stands now, she's just a massive floating cannon fodder.

 

Compare her to Atlanta? Atlanta eats destroyers and cruisers for breakfast, such an infinitely happier ship...

I got the light fleet package, no pains there they are all 3 enjoyable.

 

I bought the Murmansk, and ow boy I like her. It's a better Omaha imo, with 8km torps which while being affected by the very tight turning radius of other ships are still powerful and can catch unaware captains with their pants down. Will rebuy -> ow yes!

I was under the impression that Warspite was only available during CBT and it goes after the wipe and gold is refunded? That's why I never bought it, didn't see the point.

 

I have Grem, Yubari and Simms, so I'm sorted there.

 

I'll re-buy Murmansk, beast of a ship in it's tier. The Aurora is awful, won't buy that again. Albany is also a big no. Atlanta? well that depends. At the moment with the fire/HE situation it's very good, if that changes (and I really think it will) it might not be so good, I'll keep an eye on that.

 

The great thing about testing has been the ability to really have input at this early stage and my reward as I see it is being able to concentrate my effort on what I like, I won't be wasting any resources on Carriers, I hate carrier gameplay. I'll focus on Cruisers mainly as they are my fav, DD's second. Wasted alot of time (not a complete waste you understand, it's all testing, but from an enjoyment point of view) On carriers and Battleships.

 

Then there is a possibility of the CBT rewards, and that's just a bonus whatever it may be.

Maybe buy Murmansk. Atlanta?, dont know.....
