Is it worth buying Tone or Ise?

I do not have them, I do not see many of them, I see very few of them. Maybe it is a strange idea from the gameplay point of view.  The last time I saw an Ise, it was standing still moving the planes but ready to receive all the enemy fire. I mean they do not remain in the rear to use the planes, but while doing so they cannot act as a battleship, so they risk a lot, imagine the Tone.

I have both. I would say Tone is worth it, Ise not so much.

Tone is a good utility ship. You can spot, force ships out of smoke or make them decide if they want to show broadside to your Teammates or want to eat your torps.

Ise can do the same, but I don't like her main guns and firing angles.

Also, when you use the captain skill for higher torpedo damage it also applies to her airborne Torpedos.

Also tone is a good DD hunter. I really enjoy her.

Have Tone and find her very interesting to play.  Play it as a standard Jap cruiser then use the planes when the situation calls for it (spotting round an island, hunting a DD, or simply when nothing is in range).

I have both, and would file the pair under 'fun and interesting', but not essential. They also both are nerfable.

Of the two, Tone is probably better tier-for-tier; perhaps think of her as an Atago with two fewer barrels, but in a better position (to fire all of them whilst avoiding too much broadsiding), with tech tree torp arcs, and the ability to do the plane thing every three minutes. The planes don't make a huge amount of difference most of the time, although they can occasionally be useful.

Ise is fun in Ops; I pretty much bought mine for that.

From what I saw from various videos (I only own Ise) :

Tone is quite efficient with very good stealth and survivability but the planes are rarely to be used.

Ise is quite fun with the planes but is rather fragile and lacks a bit in firepower.

I personnally enjoy Ise in Operations !!

If  you'd still have left good chunk of doubloons after you buy Tone from your already existing dubs, then yes, get it. It can be fun at times. But playing it efficiently won't be easy when your team is full of bots, or against T9-10s. Do i regret getting it? No, cuz i still have lots of dubs after the purchase and  can make it work regardless of the tier due to being used to Atago variants for years.

Lots of doubloons left: check

Atago expert: check

I think it’s obvious then.

Tone is great fun IMO. It has great stealth at 8.8 km so you can basically pick whatever engagement you fancy. It got heals, not very powerful ones but a heal is a heal and it does give you sustain. It also has great torps, 10 km with solid damage and for some reason great reload so it is an amazing kite ship.

Gun power, well it has the DPM of, very little to be honest. Alpha is good and firechance is also good, but not that many guns with a slow reload is not brilliant. Still the gun angles are suprisingly good for having all guns in the front so you will not have problems getting guns on target.

And then there are the planes, fragile yes, not the fastest, no consumables and quite the reload. But they are still planes, and they can still spot, giving the Tone radar levels of utility not to mention being able to strike targets across the map.

Don't have either of them, don't see enough of them, don't see much point to them either given how much they had to sacrifice for their gimmic.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with them being in game, just don't see any reason in my getting either of them.

I like the Ise because it DOES offer a unique gameplay challenge. You cannot say this about a new ship very often.

Compared to the Fuso, you lose almost 40 % of your gun DPM. You can make up for this loss if you play very close. Then you can fly in your plane attacks essentially while your main battery reloads, so you don't sacrifice any more of that gun DPM.

The problem with playing close with the Ise is that you always should stay bow-on. Because of the flight deck, the firing angles towards the stern are absolutely awful. So if you turn your bow away from the enemy you essentially remove yourself from the battle. So you need very careful positioning to stay both effective and alive.

We sometimes do the unthinkable and play a division of two Ises and a CV. :Smile_hiding: It is very, very powerful and I guess also toxic as hell. Two bow-tanking Ises can hold a flank extremely well. If theres a ship that you cannot gun down together... well then you crossdrop him with torps every couple of minutes. One way or the other, he's going to have a bad time. The CV handles the spotting because the Ises shouldn't waste time flying around, since they must keep those main batteries firing.

The Tone I haven't tried yet, but I'm sure I will. The great concealment together with a hybrid versatility is just bound to be fun.

its not worth spending a penny on WG

Regarding the ships

Imho, both are quite nice to play

Ise is a hybrid and feels like a hybrid. With BB guns that do decent damage, and planes that fill up the rest of the damage, and the combo is just really nice to use. Plus Ise has a ton of utility as it can tank for its team from the front for a fair while and it can also spot targets on its own. Its unique, and pretty fun

As for Tone, she is basically the Swiss Army Knife of all cruisers. I mean, she literally has everything you want for a ship. Hard hitting and accurate guns, torps, amazing stealth, decent protection and HP, a great amount of speed, decent AA and finally planes for spotting and dealing a bit of extra damage. With all these tools, there so many situations where I feel like Tone can do something. She is very versatile

Both are great ships imho for their tier, and soo far, are successful hybrids, although I have to say that Ise is more of the hybrid and Tone is more of the swiss knife than hybrid

I have both and find them the most/only interesting prem ship this year.

I don’t use the planes overly much and don’t find them terribly effective but they offer utility such as spotting, smoke clearing or annoying a BB

So yea I think they are quite balanced and fun

Nah, I got my ISE with a discount code and still think I got ripped off, guns are okay, but the rear turrets have very limited firing arc's over the back and the torps do next to no damage.

I don't have them but I think in general, the ability to spot from very far is potencially very important. Is it more or less like the Dutch cruisers?

I only have Tone. She is fine. Great concealment, good torps, guns and of course planes. TBH I rarely use her planes but they are useful in some situations. I like to torp DD's in smoke 😁 I can recommend her.

Don’t have either ship but have played against and with a lot in ranked

If played well both ships can be game changers but I think Tone is capable of more

I’m guessing they are easy ships to play badly

Honestly fail to see much of a point in buying either compared with their respective regular premium counterparts.
