Only as long as you are spotted, which might or might not be the case in a DD gun duel, especially if you have a spotter in range and can use smoke after the enemy DD fired back.

 

That having said I also vote 3 as in my experience shooting from smoke happens more often than not (usually versus BBs).

 

Its the simple choice of always +5% for 3 points versus a situational +10% for 4 points.

But when I am unspotted I have probably more time because the enemy DD has more problem hitting me.

Once you pop smoke the enemy DD will most of the time also pop smoke or try to disengage, i.e. the faster you can fire from within your own smoke the better.

 

Also remember that MBAAAS provides continuous AA (good forever it is worth) while FB only adds one +1 flak (not nearly as good if the enemy CV has at least an idea of what he is doing).

I feel that 10% more action time of Smoke generator can be important to

Daring when you have to smoke up and are trying stop in that smoke.

So that makes nr. 3 even more better than nr. 2

I found RPF much more useful then 5% faster reload.

This is my preferred and what I use. Minus Pyro on second line as I'm missing one point.

Surprised no one else seems to be taking improved AP on Daring, to be honest.

For me, it's a diminishing returns thing: the extra damage only applies to AP, whereas the build I have benefits both AP and HE. I tend to find that I use HE too frequently to justify sinking two points into an 'AP only' skill...

 

If I ditched PT though, I'd probably take DE over the enhanced AP - again, it'll get more use.

 

It's not that I hate the AP skill though (I have it on my Druid captain for instance).

Eating torps in a Daring would be a real kappa moment lol

 

With Fearless Brawler instead of AR I get 10% boost to gun reload out of the box as long as I'm spotted, that's 2.2 seconds. Improving the already very good AP of Daring gives me a further edge against destroyers from the outset and a boost to gunboating in general. 

 

There's no need for AR. At 21pts though I might drop improved AP for it. Or maybe try Main battery specialist.

You will be if you gunfight with DDs :)

But it seems we approach the ship differently overall. I tend to shoot a lot and so get spotted a lot. 

 

Speaking of torp reload you using legendary mod?

Nope, tbh I dont play much Daring.

When I do, I try to utilize smokes and change positions in between. Its not my goto dakka openwater always spotted DD.
