Port queens

The current anniversary gifts remind me how many ships I have in port that I never play. My guess is most of you play only a handful ships regularly. Most ships are never played after they have been grinded for the next tier. 

So I am curious how many ships you have and how many you really play.

I have 150 ships now, play 3 consistently and maybe about 8 regularly (including current grinds).

When I'm not grinding, I always come back to 4 ships: Siegfried, Azuma, Aegir and Pommern... which are all tier IX ^^ my most played tier.

60 something ships, unless I feel feisty I usually play Graf Spee, Odin, Scharnhorst, Gorizia, Zara, Roma, Farragut,  Myoko, Atago, Ryujo, Fiji, and Belfast (tier 7) only
I got too many prem ships. Good thing Roma was free (CC container) and Odin was almost free, right? Help.

The Captain skills rework was a tipping point for me - I was longer interested in spending large amounts of time and money to retrain/ re-sort/ re-equip all those ships and captains. This is exacerbated by the stripping away of rewards and the proliferation of in-game currencies.

 

Consequently, I've more or less abandoned regular PvP play, and now only log on for a bit of idle PvE, for which I only need a small number of meta-ships - maybe 6 or 7 in total.

 

 

I find that there is also now the factor of account bloat. I.e. I see no point at all in buying new ships - even with WG pushing power creep ships - when i have so many completely unused ships. Thus coal and FXP are now just left to pile up, 30% vouchers left to expire, and its easy to resist the 1% chance of a ship drop in gambling boxes.

134 ships on EU most of which are either premium ships or special ships (i.e. no retraining required while switching). The only non-premium ships that I do keep are either T10s, (re-) grinds or odd CVs that I have managed to aquire over time (most often through events like the current one). Usually I do play the (re-) grinds on a regular basis plus the premium ships of the nation(s) that are currently grinding a captain to 21 points.

 

For example I currently play the Vittorio Veneto (RB re-grind), Haarlem (grind) and any German or Russian premium/special ship as I see fit as I am currently training Lütjens and Kuznetov to 21 points. Since the captain rework it really isn't about ships anymore, at least for me.

yeah, but this time i won't dust of all snowflakes... in regard to grinding and keeping ships:

 

Between the one year where Port slots were dirt cheap and the new daily mission system, I stopped selling grind ships a while ago and bought everything t5 upwards back. hence my rather substantial fleet of silver ships... 

 

On the other hand I seriously lack the proper captains to play a lot of these silver ships in randoms, thanks to the captain rework system forcing me to be stingy with my ECXP.

I voted 250+ in port and 21-25 regularly played. 

 

In reality I do have more than 375 ships in port and my guesstimate would be an average of between 15-35 ships with at least one game per month.

 

The number may change with circumstances like ongoing CB season, how many lines I have open for grind or regrind (and how much i am in a hurry to get them done) and how much I play in division and with which fellow clan members. 

 

I do like to pick a ship that gives me a well rounded division composition, no triple bb divisions for me please. If we play a row of games from t5 upwards (going up a tier after every match) I end up playing at least 5 different ships that day. If one of the Div mates has a special tier/ship he needs to grind I may end up switching ships less often.

 

I also do have my personal favourites and on some tiers I do have more options, that are fun to play and are either a premium or have a dedicated high level captain, than on other tiers. you won't see me playing cruisers a lot on t5 for example and for DDs on t7 I most likely stick to either Haida, Leningrad or Minsk. I mean t7dds are in a bad spot MM wise anyway, so why handicap myself by playing something that I don't feel comfortable with and has a decent captain if I end up in a t7-9 match again? 

 

Since rework its mainly premiums below t10 except for regrinds or the recently released lines like German dds or Dutch cruisers.

377 in port at time of writing (too lazy to check if that includes any bloody submarines); I voted 26+ played, although that assumes a month where WG have somehow managed to not make me feel dirty playing the game.

 

I have quite a low boredom threshold, so tend to play quite a lot of ships per month, but usually only a few battles per ship (the obvious exceptions are things like Clans where it helps to put a string of games together with one ship).

240+ ships with another 50 slots left, but since be i basically nolonger play (apart for just dusting off the TX ships for the anyversary the SC were crap as expected) and all the crap wg is up to well, shame imo.

Almost 100 here.

My account is shared with my father so I have my tastes and he has his.

If i'm not grinding something as for me i use a lot all the t6 cvs (for scenario mode), Georgia, Iowa, Ise (scenario mode), Der Grosse, Scharnhorst and Prinz Eitel Friedrich when i feel good to play some ranked.

All my other ships like cruisers, jap bbs and t8+ cvs are port queens for me.

My father instead loves playing cruisers such as Myoko and Mogami (he's grinding that line) and french cruisers. He also like to take a spin sometimes with Pommern, Siegfried and Amagi or Izumo.

The other ships that we have he doesn't even give a look at them.

So yeah, we usually use almost 20/25 ships regulary togheter, if there weren't events like this one of anniversary or snowflakes during xmas i think i would have sold them all the other ships that we never use.

I whaled a lot until 2020. And due to maximizing events like anniversary and Xmas I have all silver ships from T5 upwards in port. Some with low captains but that’s ok for snowflake coop duty.

 

Since I have a silver shortage a select group of T9 freemiums are played most.  Then I play a dedicated group of silver ships to level up. Currently Haarlem, Vittorio V. , Brindisi, Drake, Riga & Minnesota. All other BB and cruiser lines are T10.
 

My CV’s and DD’s are at T8 ( CV just unlocked B hull, and my DD’s are either T9 unlocked or about 30k from unlocking 9) and are on ignore.

I currently have 89 ships and I play them all.

How? I have four lists, one with all the ships & three with selected ships. I use D100, D20 & a D8, etc dice to randomly determine which ship I will play .

ATM i have in port 354 ships in my port and i play most of the ships from tier 7 to 10 but my absolute favorite ship is my Asashio and the black edition and i dont care if people call that DD a on trick pony because it is not true because the guns are the same as on the Shimakaze and they hit like a ton of bricks when they hit other DDs and light cruisers. Kremlin, Gearing, Montana,Yamato, Fletcher, Neustrashimy, Thunderer, Cossack, Belfast (the original) and my Friesland is some of my port queens.

I usually play a few I enjoy which change periodically - currently it’s Neptune, Smolensk, thunderer and JB, but it rotates. Ships I enjoy but don’t play much atm are: French DD, WV41, musashi, enterprise, audacious, Colorado, Des Moines, midway.

The problem is power creep. Most of the newer ships come out surpass older ships(with exception of the dutch cruisers) But WG has been pushing the levels of balance on newer ships left and right and in many cases have made them more ideal and appealing then l older released ships. A prime example of this is the Zao.

98 or so ships in my port, I only play about 4-5 of them regularly.

I have about 95 ships in port. I have the ones I'm levelling tagged as priority. Currently it's the Riga (can't stand it) and the Albemarle (I like it). I play those once or twice if I feel like it. I play CVs relatively regularly - just bought the Chkalov with all the free doubloons I got.

 

It's a pity that silver is so scarce (for a f2p player). It stops me from playing tier X more (though when I play other ships, they're mostly tier X). I enjoy quite a few of those - Venezia, Worcester, Montana, Hakuryu, Minotaur. 

 

I avoid anything under tier IX, really. I do play Viribus Unitis, though. Nueve de Julio sometimes. Fiji and Leander are favorites too. All rarely played though.

 

I have so many ships unlocked but no silver to buy them with - Chung Mu, Hindenburg, Saint Louis... in time. Or not. I don't care, really.
