Some new battle mode of 7 vs 7 players?

What is this? Another RANK (as in 'stinking') battle mode?

 With Bot cargo ships?

With CVs but no Subs?

I thought April Fools Day was April 1st - not Sept 23?, 2021.

As designed & advertised, I will be avoiding this new battle mode.

Played it on PTS and actually it was ok. Much better than what's coming with the asymmetric battles. 

My issue then was that some maps had stupid spawning and some of them weren't suited for that mode at all. Also sometimes those cargo ships ... Get stuck. Yeah.

They are very quick and violent battles. If you like brawling this is the game mode for you.

Its def not ranked

Its a fun, different game mode with a historical basis. 

Its fast paced and aggressive, and for those who like brawling, this mode is good for them as brawling is going to happen a lot here

 

As designed and advertised, I will be playing this new gamemode, coz 

A. I wanted this for a while

B. Its suits my playstyle preference

C. Its so different from what we have.

 

Also, pretty sure asymmetric battles will be coming out with this game mode

I would even say, that this is something like Special mode PvP Operation. 

Defo not Ranked, as other mentioned, just if you are interested, you can try this new special mode, where basically apart from destroying enemy fleet you have also another task to defend/destroy the convoy of transport ships.

Well... tbh was eager looking forward for this mode. Then I saw that CV's are allowed.

With the state of the AA as of now.....And one is supposed to defend the convoy when it can't defend even itself

If  the side can be chosen then definitively yes. Otherwise...... sorry I'm not idiot enough.....

It's even more brawly than brawl, which can devolve into Island camping, also the transports have smoke.

Liked it on test server, it starts just on time for my stock Lightning, Haarlem and North Carolina grinds. Much faster than grinding stock modules in coop

People stated that transports would pop smoke, then continue to sail out of their smoke. We`ll see if that holds true ...

Probably WGs way to make sure that "Convoy mode wasn't liked by the playerbase, so we won't put something like it for subs into the game... player's choice is important to us..."

In CoOp bot DDs and Cruisers that can use smoke sail through their smoke for years... I don't expect WG being able to adjust the KI for their Convoy transports bots to do any better.

CVs aren't as useful in the convoy mode as battles are close and the usual game breaking spotting the CVs provide isn't as useful. Also T8 CVs lack the DPM to quickly decide games. I played a lot of convoys in the PTS and tbh CVs are tolerable in this game mode - not game breaking like in the other.

 

The Liberty ships will pop smoke when spotted. They sail in line so the first Liberty popping smoke conceals rest of the Liberty lemming train. It's a good balance as the Liberties have pretty small concealment range but the attackers still can damage at least one Liberty.

 

The bad things in PTS about the convoys was that when players learned how to play the mode defending the convoy became pretty hard. Not sure how and if they have issued the balance inbalance when switching to live.

Asymmetric was fun... being an underdog and wiping out the bigger opponents required something called 'Thinking'... a rare skill these days in the game.

No need to avoid until you've at least tried it? Might be different, but nevertheless potentially fun?

So much this. I thoroughly enjoyed playing that mode. Dare I say it was the most fun  of all modes. But Weggie: fun not allowed. Either grind and misery or gfy.

The devs are obsessed with ramming CVs into every mode, whether they belong or not. Don't see much point, unless the transports have god-tier AA.

That's why it'll be messed up. Convoys are more like randoms but with some task to do. Asymmetric need more skill.

It bugs me that they never leave the battles that are popular up and running.. It's as if they're afraid that the players will prove how popular some of their offerings actually are contrary to what they believe.
