Have you noticed about Karma...

So there seems to be 3 levels of Karma.  Most players have 0 karma, which includes those that will get 1 or 2 from time to time.  I cannot say an exact percent, but it is like 80-90%.  Then there those that have hundreds of Karma. A very small group.  Then there is another group that is rather small that have 10-50 karma, those that try, but then make one mistake and get clobbered by the system.  So reporting or complimenting the first group really doesn't matter, because in the end they will always be around zero.  The second group really doesn't matter because they have plenty of "karma".  The third group it becomes demoralizing because, you are often reported for doing your job and rarely complimented for doing an outstanding job.  Literally, I have scrapped out a win through a carry and not a single compliment, possibly even a report.  I know Karma doesn't mean much, but in some way it does.  Maybe there could be some adjustments to the system.  It is way too bottom skewed.  People are more likely to report than to compliment.  Probably should limit reports to only the number of compliments.  If you haven't complimented someone you cannot report?

Don't worry, it's on their list and they will fix it right after CV are balanced and Gearing model got fixed. :Smile_amazed:

If people would be less salty in chat, they wouldn't lose that much karma.

As long as Karma doesn't do anything, there is no reason to be bothered about.

And for WG most likely it doesn't pay off to either change the report / compliments ratio or to overwork the whole system. Saves them money on the support side of the game, if people use the reports instead of writing tickets about people being afk or toxic in chat.

I really dont think that the karma system is where WG developers should spend their effort.

Unless you say some "nice things" about them in wows Karma website and they will turn into negative numbers. There's a guy that has -19 in NA. Ofc it won't show in-game just in MM monitor.

I have chat disabled, had 15 karma on friday, played weekend and did really well in mino, couple krakens, etc. down to 3 and now bounced back up to 13

We should care about useless karma system why exactly?

Its a neccessary system. If it wasnt there PPL would "murder you by tracking your IP" (yes, I´ve seen such a threat in battlechat by a ragekiddy).  :cap_haloween:

Well then you know why. Even doing well in meh ship like Yueyang will end up getting reported... Unless you have teammates that appreciate your play.

The karma system is really a vent for the angry sensitive souls who don’t like it when you sink them, thus avoiding lots of support tickets from abusive messages.

I can understand when you have say 20 or 30 karma it’s disheartening when your reported for playing well but it’s really not worth worrying about.

I use my compliments almost completely every day (+11). Every game I try to compliment at least one player, someone who played well, supported me or just a high score (the one that has the second highest XP after me :Smile_medal:) or 3 or more kills.

I rarely report players. I do report abuse in chat, obnoxious in game behaviour (refusing to help, moving away from the key battle, moving backwards from spawn, sitting behind a far island) and afk in ranked.

It is a place to review people she their play. So if you see a guy that was going YOLO in his CV and see in his profile that others reported that as well - then it's not a one mistake.

Or someone that is spamming commands in chat or being rude.

It's not super useful but as additional info - yeah why not.

Gaining Karma is much harder and rarer than losing them. While playing well and being nice to your team doesn't always guarantee a + karma, getting reported over the silliest of mistakes is more common and frequent than you might think.

- Badmouthing and name shaming is an instant report

- Playing CV

- FDR, a CV so nasty it's reported at the beginning of the match

- Smolensk, Conkek, Thunderer, Halland all have a fair chance of getting reported

- Spamming HE at one particular individual (especially BBs) long enough to piss them off

- Abandoning team to selfishly 'save a star' rather than supporting alive teammates who could use your help to win ranked

- DD that doesn't spot / or dies too soon

- being AFK, intentional, or due to a bad connection (darn high ping!) will get you reported

- Kill stealing low HP ships is just not cool!

- Teamkill/shooting at teammates, thanks to the new rules we're no longer in danger of getting killed by angry tryhard kids in our own team.
