Stuck in select username screen

I cannot get passed the select username screen.

Deleting steamapi64.dll does not work s the game will not start without it.

 

Does anyone know of a workaround?

Unless Steam/Wg add the feature the wg launcher has where you can log into an account, then playing the wg client until this is fixed. Been happening to me since trying to log on at atleast 2am uk time for me.

There is no workaround - it was more or less by accident that you could use your WG-account within Steam, it was never intended to work that way.

The why did they release it on steam?

Same es for Epic - they got/reached a new playerbase.

BTW I'd never use Steam for Warships - it's less stable as people complain each week that there are login-issues and updates are far more huge. I'm running WG-Center since it's early stages (Alpha or Beta) and I'm absolutely fine with it and I do run multiple (Test-)Clients with it.

I use steam for the trading cards I get when I purchase something so basically money off sort of.

I wonder if steam will be happy with one of the games forcing their players to abandon their platform...

Yes but there is a work around, installing Wargaming Game Center and use your Wargaming account to log-in.

I started the game using Steam but WOWS does require a Wargaming account and will create one so Steam users can use Wargaming Game Center to install (another copy of the game) and play it from there using their Wargaming (not Steam) account credentials.

Yes, you're right in general - if there's problems with steam you can use WGC ofc. But I think the OP asked the other way round how to use Steam with WG(C)-Account - but maybe it's too early and too few coffees here ;-)

Problem also theres no update from steam or Wg about this issue and its been alteast 5hours when I tried logging on this morning but could be even longer. And as I said the simple fix is "Unless Steam/Wg add the feature the wg launcher has where you can log into an account" and problem solved.

WG cannot do anything in this case but it's strange that Steam doesn't have anything in their WoWs-Community-Section. Did you already try the check&repair on steam? Some users report that this can help.

This is what I sent steam support this morning I have even tried to glitch out all of my steams wows file to see if I could break something then something got replaced as I restarted.

This happen from time to time. I think is something related with login server. Usually it fixed without do nothing in some hours

Now I can't log in either, it gets stuck on the username login screen. Why is this happening and when will the problem be fixed?

Same here. Can't start game through Steam after the preload of the patch. I have the game and the account made through Steam. Never had this problem so persistently. All I get is the log in screen as above with the subs.

Ok, through Steam Charts I see a persistent difference in player numbers between yesterday and today. It seems that there are persistently over the course of the day approximately 2200 less people playing. And as the time passes, this difference doesn't seem to decrease.

 

It's gonna ring bells at WG as it is more than obvious that people cannot play.

 

Also, it seems that is a Europe server only problem (?) Didn't see such a topic over at the NA forum.

Well, I'm a WGC player now!

 

Not hugely different for me as I rarely play other games through steam and updates should be faster and more easily managed.
