So, I just bought the Sims (Idk if its good or not, I only bought it because it seemed better then the other CBT access packs ).

 

So, Quite simply, Im downloading this game right now, And, What do i need to know ? Whats the best nation ? Whats everyones Favorite classes ? How does the game play ? 

 

One thing i have been worrying about, Are Carriers as game breaking as Arty in WoT?

 

So yeah, I would really appreciate a brief little thing of what does what xD.

 

(Ive played WoT for a few years so i will get the interface and stuff, its just how the game actually plays im wondering about )

 

Oh yeah, And is the VII Sims good?

Firstly, welcome. Secondly, its going to be a great game when complete, no matter what you may hear here. Go to youtube and do a search for Captains Acadamy, lots of info there. Also just a search on Youtube should turn up many vids covering the different classes of warship. Enjoy.

I guess look around the forum for tips and videos and learn how play certain classes and do some maneuvers, like how to evade torpedo bombers or how not to fall in the traps of a destroyer. 

Some things might be frustrating and some ships may look overpowered to you but please don't come to the forumand ask for nerfs straight away. Search the forums and see what others are saying about it. Play that ship/class yourself and maybe you can learn how to counter it better. 

 As for classes and nations, I can't tell you what to pick since each has their favorite playstyle. I would suggest you try them all and see which fits your style better. don't rush in tiers since XP in this stage of beta is very generous XD

Giving it slightly more though, don't play the Simms immediately, try a tier 1 vessel of whichever type you fancy first. BTW each nation has its strengths and weakness. As Takeda92 says, try them all and of course the biggest thing is enjoy yourself.

Yeah, I was planning on just using a tier 1 just to grasp the basics before i go mess up a tier 9 game in my sims xD

Check out the many videos that are available to watch as that will give you a better insight than words will ever achieve. Of course you can go the Portal (link in notification bar at top of forum page) and from there go to your Member Page and click on News and Schedule where you will find many guides.

I have another question as well, When i bought this pack, It gave me 3000 of those premium currency, Am i right in saying that if i spend them, When the game Leaves CBT when my account gets wiped, I am Given back my sims at that 3000 Premium currency to use again?

The first thing you should know is this: torpedoes don't make a distinction between an allied vessel or an enemy, don't launch them when you can hit friendlies. When playing something armed with torpedoes, before pressing battle make sure you know their range so you don't spam them with no chance of hitting an enemy.

 

Now, Sharana's guides are very informative, iChase's video's are very informative, I recommend both. Most of all, I recommend you to have fun and don't worry if it's a learning curve as the rewards will be equal to the difficulty of getting the hang of things ;)

There's a fair number of guides written by experienced players. They're pretty much all worth reading so you can understand the game in full, while you might not need to take everything in all at once, it will be pretty handy knowledge when you start wondering "why did that happen?" after 10-20 games

I hope they change it to 2+ eventually and do something about tier III BBs as they are so easy to kill and constantly face rank Vs that outgun them (even CLs).

I tried that today full broadside on a Omaha 5km away, it was like watching a shotgun fire as the shells flew all over the place. The ones that hit did about 3k dmg, in return he was doing 1k per shell with HE against me .

Yeah, actually the tier isn't that important in the game: BB beat cruisers even if they are higher tier, CA beat DD, DD beat BB...

Today , in a half life Kongo I ran aginst a full life Cleveland and a full life Aoba.

Guess who won with 300 hp remaining, then got torped by the topedoes that the Aoba launched before dieing...

Hey Guys!, This Game Is amazing! haha, I have played a couple dozen games now, Most in the sims, And ive only been sunk Once xD *(When i was playing the tier1 they give you)*, So yeah, Sims is Very good :3.

Im New, What do i need to know?

 

1. Destroyers are seacancer, carriers are [edited].
2. Torpedoes are OP.
3. Air dropped torpedoes are even more OP because they magically appear next to your ship. Air dropped torpedoes have no arm time, and they really should get some.
4. HE is OP.
5. Cruisers are OP because they only fire HE and set you on fire with every shot.
6. Battleships are the weakest class in the game, everybody picks on them. It takes immense skill to do decently in a battleship and all the other classes you can just faceroll on your keyboard and win.
7. Scout planes should be launched immediately upon the start of the game.
8. Battleships should always stay at maximum range and snipe at the enemy, especially destroyers.
9. If somebody hits you from more than 10km away he's using an aimbot.
10. Sailing in a straight line is the best strategy to avoid torpedoes.
11. Always have your broadside towards the enemy so you can fire all your guns without having to turn.

Mhmm, Surely Would that not be a bad idea ? Showing the enemy a big, flat, non angled surface to penetrate easily ?, Not to mention making it a zillion times easier for torps to hit?

 

And tbh dude, Torps dont seem that OP to me, Its not like theyre impossible to dodge  (Depending on how slow you are / close they were launched). And, Tbh, If you get slammed under your hull by multiple torpedos that bore holes in your ship, One would think that would SERIOUSLY eff up your ability to fight right ?, I think if they got nerfed, It would make them completely useless in battle, I mean, Why take the time to torp someone that they can easily dodge, Just to have it hit and scratch their hull?
