Combat mission - choose a container reward. Training for lootboxes 2.0

So I just noticed,  there is a combat mission this week where you have to choose your reward. You choose between 2 completely irrelevant resources containers (like the ones you can choose for XP every day). I unfortunately forgot to make a screenshot...

I was asking myself, why the hell does WG go to the trouble of makeing it so you have to choose what kind of container you want? I mean why even introduce this option wich seems completely irrelevant, just give a container, who cares which one it is.

Knowing the kind of insidious company WG is I thought to myself: There is another reason for why this option was here..

What I think the response of WG to the lootbox rebellion is going to be is that in the future, like with your daily XP containers, we will get the option of choosing what kind of stuff is most likely to drop in the container they sell you. (to appease the gamling complaints)

Do you want your 10 euro lootbox to contain camos? click here. Would you like signals? 10 euro. Would you like a higher chance to get a ship or whatever special item they are baiting you with, in a container? click here.

This feature was announced weeks ago.

It gives players options. Some players prefer specific rewards. And this feature works with all kinds of rewards, not just daily crates...

the DNT mission chain also allows to select which captain one wants to get. Or of course one can simply read the patch notes from one of the last patches when this feature was added to the game...

who cares which one it is

who does not care if he gets a 'more resources' or a 'more credits' container?

to give the player at least a small choice about the rewards for missions?

But it is always amazing with how much 'creativity' some players want to make really every new feature/event/... to something bad :Smile_facepalm:...

The inclusion of ( trivial) choices between rewards is not that bad. Even if it’s a choice between a bad reward and a slightly less bad reward. Like the option to choose between a credit or a coal container. Easy for me, picked the coal. I am sure with this level of reward it’s more a trial thing for WG.

And the captain choice reward( for the anime collaboration thing)  would be nice for the collection whale that got character A from a paid rng container and can now pick either of the 2 options to make certain he receives the other instead of rng and might end up with getting a duplicate. I don’t care for this event but IF I would this would been a very welcome change.

So complain if you want about the bad rewards but then the option to pick up the reward that suits your need the most is a positive one.

I do not know where the gambling happens,  when you choose between a red haired and and blond haired captain. But as someone that ignores facts, you will probably come up with some other uninventive insult.

Posters have to 'poast' & there's a lot of 'burnt poast' coming out of that particular appliance.

Really? I suppose you haven't yet encountered (nor contradicted anyone?) who refers to 'loot boxes'? (or has that particular mouse escaped your cat senses?) :cap_haloween:

That's not a bad idea, but I'd rather they behaved like other responsible gambling companies and placed a daily limit on the amount you can stake on lootboxes, with a 24hr cooldown for changes.

WHERE is the lootbox when choosing a captain?

Apologies, I did mean an insult at all, just a known fact.

How do you suppose to know that, when you ignore facts?

let's be honest. A maxim on any gaming forum is:

if posts  >  games played then goto opinion is equal to 0.

you seem blind to any fact  that does not facilitate you bending for WG entry.

That is ignorant beyond measure and you make it obvious that you are writing about my posts without knowing them.

I wonder how games are counted in the World of Warcraft gaming forum....

I thought this topic was about 'Lootboxes 2.0' (& whatever may be going on with container rewards)

Usually, persons who redirect the discussion onto a completely different topic do this as they have no valid point to make and are simply being argumentative for arguments sake.

Complain to him for bringing up so much ignorance. But you are probably right about him. This was surprisingly sharp of you :cap_like:

Was a bit weird, must have had a bad warcraft loot box roll.  Perhaps they don't give a choice of 2 piss poor choices.

My comment was directed at your 'redirection' & TY for the compliment. One of us has to be sharp :fish_viking: ( 'dicing your 'poast').

Choosing the type of container reward is fine. I prefer non-credit containing containers as credits are so easy to accumulate. Some signal flags or resources  containers are more useful, imho.

Then you are unable to pick up who brings up a new topic. Now you act more like expected :cap_like:

This is basically a carrot attached to a carrot on a stick. It gives players a suggestion of having options while keeping them strongly embedded in the preferred customer journey. It simply more manipulation presented as benign especially when it concerns a choice between lootboxes.
