I'll just leave this here..

https://www.naval-technology.com/news/hms_belfast/

So it seems that WarGambling are using the Imperial War Museum Group to promote their gambling game.

WarGambling made the approach and I suspect that due diligence on the company was not carried out.

I hope that no Children are suckered in to this wonderfully ethical game, under their parents noses, without adequate warnings/disclaimers

Or maybe no one in either party really cares..

Nothing wrong with writing to the imperial war museum and highlighting WGs business practices nor with mentioning their inaction around Yuro’s comments.

Chances are the contract signed probably massively favours WG but nothing wrong with letting the IWM know just who they are dealing with.

Does it look like this?

I would be fine if the money went to the ship and museum and the game didn't have fifa/nb2k style scummy business practices. But yeah not really a fan either since belfast isn't really accurately portrayed in terms of gameplay (warthunder would be better even though gaijin is questionable in of itself). and weegees games can get addicting (i should know since i only played world of tanks and did little else when i was a lot younger).

Comrade, I assure you WG will be more than willing to show the famous Russian support of LGBT+ rights by prosecuting that guy for his homophobic slurs.

"The gaming room was developed in collaboration with Wargaming, the computer games maker behind the historically accurate naval combat game World of Warships, which now includes two iterations of HMS Belfast from World War II and the 1950s." (Emphasis added)

Dear gods....!

Edit: FWIW I've dropped IWM a short note apropos WG and encouraging kids/the vulnerable to gamble...

TBH, I remember the not-quite-the-early-days of WoT. That was an amazing time to play that game. Since then... watching paint dry is more addictive these days...

How could the Imperial War Museum Group get so badly 'suckered'?

WoWS is not even a reputable/respectable simulation - it's a commercial arcade gaming company (with some, apparently, really questionable business practices).

And of course her extensive Aircraft Carrier Fleet that will be in the game soon along with the extensive German Aircraft carrier Fleet.

May be the ship actually get money in exchange of the presence of the game station. Seems like you just became a bunch a brain-dead mob at this point.
Whats next ? You will ask all the ships that used to host anchor tour away to stop housing the event because reee wargaming ?

I was able to go aboard HMS Belfast a few weeks ago and honestly that game room is pretty awful you only get the British ships of upto T4 if that and Belfast T7 and Belfast T8 plus as you might expect most of the accounts are Orange status so locked to coop (as they probbably should be to be honest) though despite WGs current actions I do feel that at the moment the advantages of WOWS being on Belfast outweigh the negatives fortunately there is very little to no trace of the gambling that has become so prevalent.

But again to be honest it seems it currently suits Belfast better to have WG onboard and its not like they are losing anything for having it a old compartment that was not being used.

I also mailed the IWM that something as historical significant and of national pride should not be used to sell lootboxes to children and introduce minors to gambling.

Do you not think we know that ?

I'm a member of the Imperial War Museum; my annual subscription goes to HMS Belfast and the other IWM sites. Yes, she needs funding, particularly after the loss of revenue due to the Covid lock down. However, as the economy opens up, her exhibition and venue spaces are in good demand from companies in London.  There are more reputable ways for her to earn her keep than be associated with WG.

As an ordinary member, I have limited influence, but I am making my concerns known to the board of trustees. I hope people associated with Bovington Tank Museum will do the same.

WG most likely offered a substantial amount of funding. Museums do need them. Nowadays still were even banks are uninformed towards gaming companies and, upon on requests for credits, ask "Do you make these killing games?", museum officials would most likely never guess Belfast is not even obtainable and if, locked behind evil christmas loot boxes. Also business development and marketing employees in gaming often do not really know anything about the products, they are only there to advertise a partnership.
