Good, bad, meh or whatever?

 

I'm picking them up for free with the current event thingy and will probably bag up to and including the T8. Personally I can't play them for shhh just yet in regards that bombing aircraft thing. The bomber range seems to be way too short to use without getting slapped for getting that close to the intended target ship and the time it takes for my bombers to get from my ship to a selected target area seems to take too long to guesstimate correctly to hit anything other than a slow, static or straight lining ship. Maybe it's a case of practice makes perfect... or at least practice makes less crap?

 

Also, when it comes to commander skills, just a humble 7 and 10 pointer, is there much difference in skill choice with these dutchies?

They seem alright. Just general purpose cruisers with a small gimmick. Not great, not bad. I'm interested how the more battlecruiser like ones are going to be.

 

The airstrike isn't amazing for doing damage, but it's quite useful for scaring people out of a stationary position. It's easy enough to avoid getting slapped big by it for it to be balanced, yet scary enough to try to get out of the way.

Weak guns, useless AAA because every CV can strike from a standoff range, it's all about the airstrike gimmick, which is situational at best.

Kinda meh. Found that they are somewhat tanky at mid tiers. Didn't splurge on the scam bundles to get the T8/T9.

The guns are underwhelming just like the airstrike.

They seem to be just mediocre ships, not good, not bad. The gimmick... meh. I'll sell mine as soon as I can and make bank. All my tokens went to credits too. I'm happy.

As a Dutchie I uininstalled the game right before their release becasue I was fed up with this developer and this game, waited to see if they would be a reason for me to reinstall temporarily. Heared the verdict overall. Not even worth downloading the game for. GG WG :P

Perfect WG ship, hide behind an island, play the static CV game, give very little help to your team, die quickly when caught !

I'm using the tokens to obtain as many of the Du camo as I can. I require the Cpt exp bonus camos & some of the newer signal flag bonuses (for any remaining tokens). I will keep the Gelderland Cruiser as my token Du ship :cap_yes:

Played them all up to tier 7 and generally meh experience. Nothing to write home about.

I've warmed to the Kijkduin, a decent little firestarting cruiser. The Airstrikes are not easy to use and are definitely preferable for hitting slow moving / static targets but they do have reasonable alpha against the right ship (not Russian BBs). Eeenimeenieminiedracht doesn't look like much of an improvement though - almost like a Dallas moved up to Tier VII with the Airstrike gimmick. Not sure about the BCs, but I have heard many complaints about the gun performance.

Based on very few games, and - I think - all PvE:

  • T4-5 are pretty terrible, but then most cruisers around there are; you don't even get to try out the gimmick; can't see my playing them much/at all outside of snowflakes and/or specific missions.
  • T6 gets the gimmick, but it's a pretty worthless incarnation of it. I imagine I'll give her the occasional run-out in Ops; besides snowflakes, that'll be it I expect.
  • T7: dunno yet - I'll get her this weekend some time (I mission left to do).
  • T8: this one I might occasionally play; the airstrike happens fast enough to be of intermittent use, and (I think? I could be mis-remembering) she gets a heal, which is nice.
  • In all cases so far though, there are plenty of better options already in the game, so I'd file them under 'meh'...

I suppose they don't do any harm, so it could be a lot worse <looks sideways at incoming submersibles>...

I do that before the game even starts. Every single CV, until I run out of reports. WG needs the feedback, if only indirectly.

Not really seeing the appeal to be honest, they seem rather mediocre and balanced around the potential of the air strike which doesn’t remotely interest me, as such I’m not bothering to play them I would be a detriment to my team in them. 

 

Will save the early access ones for snowflake events in coop but that’s it.

Thankfully not very good. But note that they are still not much appearing in the higher tiers, where the idiotic airstrike is more powerful. 

They could have done pretty serious damage to the game if they had been good. We dodged a bullet here.

If people try to play this kind of ship around the air strike, they'll not be much help. But they're good arced shells that can fire from cover, and basically do a lot of fire damage if played right. The AP is mediocre at best, but it does work. I deal about 35-40K on average per battle with these ships (though that average been dragged down by a couple instakill matches before I realized how squishy these are and did just 0-12K), which is fine on the looks of it. They're okay against DDs. However, since it's mostly DoT, it's hard to stop anything coming at you. At max I'm dealing between 58K and even 103K at tier 4 (included two CVs). The AA is actually great, even at tier 4. Tier 5 I barely played against CVs or they didn't go after me. But the other tiers? They tried, oh they tried. :D

 

I use the following captain skills and upgrades for all Dutch ships T4 to T7 (all are 10pts spend, I got one 12 pter, but saving up for now till I make up my mind which skill I really want next):

Accuracy is fine as long as you have the 7% increase.

 

The spotter skill is useful since you have a lot of them and it's the best way to deal with BBs. From a range they'll miss more shots. And still prefer to hide near cover. Most my engagements are at 13-18km, unless DDs, which I deal with 4 to 12km. Takes quite a bit of leading at 12km, but it's not bad.

 

Bomb damage isn't great. It's just a 12K total in a match, if you're lucky it'll set a fire. I'm getting the hang of it more though and worked my way back from a 24% WR to 50%. The others are 55%, 53% and 50%. Not too great, but I have to admit it's been a while since I played cruisers mainly and in some of these matches with Kijkduin and Eendracht I've been too focused on practicing the gimmick than just dealing damage. Usualy in DDs or BBs lately.

 

I find they're hard to carry with since they are teamwork tools. And most the teams are made up of tools. Even clear wins and obvious support offert is not taken as an opportunity too often and you'll suffer from it since you can't just geronimo in with torps to do a last second Hail Mary that kills or limps a few ships at once, turning the tide. You really need to play these with a plan in mind and stimulate players to coordinate. They're defintely not bad. Squishy, but not bad. Your team however... Is.
