They used to be good, always giving good value in events.

Now they don't worry about value they just put a "95% off" sticker on and expect enough people will fall for it.

I've said it 100 times, they are making it very easy to close the wallet on this game.

It's sad how greedy this company has became and honestly I only see the trend going downwards. They're doing more and more gambling and their entire purchase policy is based on whales. Until whales stop spending so much and they will fail to make the money from their target they aren't stopping this trend.

By trying to make more they made less... or so we think. They are probably making money on this, otherwise they wouldn't be doing this cr*p.

Imagine "Premium" ship with 30% discount and full Doubloon refund for "Premium" ships you already own (i.e. you already got Doubloons with 30% OFF and saved them for "Summer Sale" event and then you re-buy the "Premium" ship you already have that is on sale - but you still get the full Doubloon refund and thus actually have the 50% Doubloons OFF and, finally, with that you buy the ship you don't have with 30% OFF = equaling practical cost of ship at around 30% of regular price)... :Smile_coin:

It did happen... in 2017... good times... :Smile_honoring:

And in 2021 we have this mess called "Summer Tokens"... :Smile_amazed:

Sorry WG, same as last year, nothing from me... ZERO spending again... :Smile-angry:

Wow I almost forgot about summer sales!!!

Yes - glorious times when I bought all sorts of premiums :Smile_honoring:

Well I guess WG killed that and put in gambling crates instead :Smile_sceptic:

Now add to that the fact that you actually could purpose buy something you could use. With the current Voyage crates even if you win the grand prize (a permacamo) for a normal player it is highly likely you CANNOT use it because you simply don't have the ship. If you are lucky it will be a silver ship camo.

So all in all, this is only for collectors that actually have the vast majority of camos ... the rest are just gambling on something they have no use for ...

I am a collector, but this event leaves me cold. If they had offered the camos for dubs or tokens straight up with no RNG...

This.

I needed some doubloons, so got a few tokens with that (which was enough to get a SC, from which I got 1.5K steel, so yay); because of the gambling boxes approach, that's all the money that WG will get from me. If it had been a sensible % off ships (for example) or similar, I would probably have spent significantly more (my US account has very few premiums, for instance).

Clearly, gambling boxes work or they wouldn't do so many of them, but if WG want more money from me they need to provide a definite - known - thing in return for said money (either that, or make every possible drop desirable and worth the money).

What a ****-poor excuse for a sale.

In the past, I've bought discounted items in WG sales, because I've considered the value of them much improved by the lowered cost.

Now, I'm buying nothing, and giving WG no money this sale.

How can anyone with 16yo grade mathematics figure out that this is a success?   Surely the entire idea of a summer sale would be to offer crates including random perma-camo's *ONLY*  (or a guaranteed drop every 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 say)  whilst also reducing the cost of premium ships by 30-50%?   Perhaps a different ship / ship group per day or per week?

I mean, there's premium ships I'd like to buy, but am not buying at full price, even with armory "discounts".

Surely more premium ships sold = more profit, as they're digital goods and already 100% sunk cost, and there's no cost involved in producing them?      Baffled.   Absolutely baffled.

Afaik 2019 had discounted ships as well. 50% off for some ships up to tier 7 and 30% off for selected ships from tier 8.

This was kinda *yeah, i take it* ...

But now? Not even worth to calculate or whatever brainfart they think is neccessary to even consider to buy that stuff. It would be sad if it would not be so hilarious stupid to treat customers like that.

I'm sure Sale means something else in Russia as this does not even meet the legal description of a sale in the Uk according to some but hey I blame Google Translate :Smile_facepalm:

Last year i was able to collect the Enterprise, with a reasonably good deal for a veteran (buying atlanta again for doubloons + tokens).

This year is the ultimate epitome of a disappointment.

I loved this sale, I bought 3 of my most played ships with those discounts - seriously regretted not picking up Belfast later on!

It's just sad how we've come from stuff like that, where ships were actually on sale, to the current WG false advertising.

Yeah, this isn't a sale.

It is also my opinion that in the UK, the "Summer Sale" is presented with a lack of information to the consumer which is a violation of the Consumer Protections Act. Most notably because they are offering bundles at a "discount" without showing their previous retail price, probably because there isn't one considering they're new bundles. But then they're just doubloons with the "gift of summer tokens". But then, why not just show the discount of doubloons? This Summer Sale event is poorly presented, lacks information and then the information that is there is... contradictional and/or unclear to be frank.

Spoiler

1.png.72dd5ea6b927bb380e05175617c887bb.png

Exactly what discount?

2.thumb.png.0e6dfb40eb61cb5171697f46cac4e9e3.png

I've been around long enough to know to simply ignore WG's business endeavours.

Folks they couldn't communicate efficiently during the SirFoch incident, CV Rework, Puerto Rico incident, Makarov christmas box galore, Yukon debacle... WG do not care. They cannot even be bothered to show us consumers what we're saving in this sale, plus doubloons are almost always on sale. This sale is not worth a single penny.

If they could be honest about what a sale is and they have stuck some VISIBLE discounts on ships, premium time and doubloons which showed us exactly how much could be saved and then if you bought such items during the sale you got some free tokens for in-game goodies then it would probably be welcomed. But no this is just a blatant lack of clear information and communication because they just want you to fixate on some tokens, which are a "gift" by the way, and not realise that you're not saving anything.  The blatant irony.

Bundles, tokens, early access... These are the most favourite words of WG in the last 1-2 years.

This is not a "summer sale" event btw. This is not even a "sale" ffs. Theres not a single ship or "bundle" on discount. If you look closely, they are not even add some percentage of discount if you buy a bigger pack of doubloons. Like with "admirals chest" or "motherlode".

The only thing theyve added are tokens, which btw are extremely "overpriced" and unworthy.

Imagine spending on 25k doubloons and only getting 2500 tokens, which are enough to get the first 3 bundle (if you get the free 300 as well) out of 8. Which includes 3 "distant voyage" container, (which would probably drop only flags and camos) and a "super" container (which would probably drop 100 xp or other generic signals or some crap*ya*s camos, or 10 days of premium).

Imagine spending money on buying 120k doubloons, just to get 2 guaranteed premium ships (a t7 and a t9), which all worth like 30k doubloons. And maybe getting a few 20 pcs of camo and flags. IF you are lucky, maybe you get one more ship from either of the "lunar" or the "black friday" containers. And if this happens, you can consider yourself lucky af. And thats all. 3 ships for maybe 40-45k doubloons. And you spent like what? 400 eur? :D Yeah... Summer sale... More like summer scam, or summer "give us more money if you want anything special".
I'm playing this game since 2018, and i've spent a serious ammount of money in this game (like more than 2000 euroes in this more than 3,5 years), but this is the lowest "event" since i play. This is the most disgusting money hungry, event since i play. In the last 1-2 years i spent less and less money in the game bc of well known development issues like CV/commander rework, MM issues and so on. The game slowly turning into some dulled down, full arcade,  zombie gameplay and community. And WG just seems to be more and more losing the touch with the (core, experienced) playerbase. It's sooo sad to witness. This game could have been such a fun and realistic experience. It's a shame that money overwrites EVERYTHING at this company.

Btw... we just got "summer tokens" on the top of "dutch tokens", and now they just announced "birthday tokens" in dovbleg... Why do we need these tokens you ask? Because tokens can be sold for doubloons, and doubloons can be sold for real money. They are adding these new currencies just to be able to make you buy tech tree ships and otherwise directly accessible (black friday, lunar new year containers) items for money or double the money. They are making sure, that you spend as much money as you can. The more the better.

If you are a new player and you accept a piece of advice: Don't give them real money. Or at least not a lot/much. They are more out of touch with reality, with every penny/cent you spend. Maybe buy premium and a little doubloons for cpt retraining or modules or something like that. But don't buy these bs bundles, containers and packages.

This bs went too far for me.

Ah, but here lies the problem, my friend.

Newbs don't know how it used to be, they only know how it is now. And they will spend. And WG will take their money so that they can carefully craft a new underwater rock for us to get stuck upon.

Oh yeah, the option to buy any amount of dubs has now gone.

A nice and sneaky extra few dubs to be made for WG ~ No doubt not a accidentally removal but a permanent feature.

From now on you cannot round off doubloons needed for ships, premium time ect and just buy the few hundred needed   (500 was the minimum)

you HAVE to now buy the set minimum amount of 1,250

Yeah, we can assume this level of WG scumbaggery. And community mismanagement will lie their faces off in defense.
