[TACHA] triumphgt6 Players 1,870 posts 22,592 battles Report post #28 Posted August 1, 2021 14,452 games - 87 detonations - last in June - I use the flags when I have them but don't buy them - I do remember detonating a Colorado with a single torp - it was before they introduced the no detonation if full health - he was full health! It has to be said he was less than amused! Detonations not a huge problem but somewhat annoying when they do happen - and I think 10 flags was reasonable recompense for a game ruined through no fault of your own. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I'm not entirely convinced that the full-health-no-deto system is fit for purpose to be honest, particularly on ships with lower health- if they get hit by a staggered salvo (particularly torps) or a couple in quick succession, they can go from 100% to <75%-and-boom in essentially the same amount of time. Now you don't even have the consolation of a few signal flags to prevent it happening next time. Had to watch this replay slo-mo as, during the match, it looked like I had det'd a full health ship. But our GK had taken a ~12.6k chunk out of it just before so it was at 72% health. GK could have had a right to feel a bit peeved too. GK : 12k dmg that's not bad for a bow-on target, those puny cruiser HE shells NewHorizon's has fired won't do much. I'll get the Prinz Eugen with my next salvo. ** BOOM ** Me: WTH? GK: WTF? GK's AP and my Riga HE shells just about to hit After GK's AP had bitten out a chunk and the first of my HE shells hit for a few hundred damage 2nd HE shell hits and detonates ... ... scoring me 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I kinda feel that if detonations are to be in the game then, for ships that have a citadel, that needs to be penetrated first before there's a chance of losing the entire ship. After all the ammunition magazine is protected by the citadel armour. DDs (with no citadel) you could reduce the chance or the 75% health limit. Detonating an armoured (OK relatively lightweight, cruiser level armour) with HE just feels wrong as you can't citadel a Prinz Eugen with 220mm HE rounds. And no I wasn't using IFHE.
