Ship trade-in?

Hello Captains,

 

In WoT there is a feature 2-3 times a year whereby you can trade in a premium tank for a same, or higher tier premium tank. You get 50% of the gold value of the tank you are trading in, which gets applied to your new tank as a discount. Handy for those tanks you got for free and / or dont play (anymore). Is there a similar feature in Ships?

This here is why it wouldn't surprise me if WG implement something similar for ships at some point - it's a simple way to get people to spend more money:

• Player thinks, ooo, that T8 premium is bound to make me win more, and buys it (whatever 'it' may be).
• Player gets their donkey handed to them.
• Player thinks, ooo, that other T8 premium is bound to make me win more...
• Along comes trade-in.
• Player trades in original T8 for new one and pays the difference, and so on.

At the end of proceedings our hypothetical player has one T8 premium, and paid 150% of its value in doubloons. Over-simplification, of course, but you get the idea.

 

(Incidentally, this is why I avoid the WOT trade-ins like the plague.)

Oh, I understand and I agree. Got the T34 for credits last Black Market and exchanged it for the CHinese WZ TD and have no regrets with that trade-in. Was just wondering if something similar was available in Ships, but I guess not.

You missed one. player trades in the ship for another.. misses the ship they traded in and buys it again for full price 

 

I dont think its something i would ever do (trade in a ship) but it would be nice to have the option from time to time..

I left it out for relative brevity; there are all sorts of other permutations that end up with WG laughing all the way to the vodka emporium...

 

The only 'player friendly' way this might work would be if trading in a ship re-set that ship in the Armory [sic]: if you could trade-in one of the coal premiums for something else, and then re-buy the same coal premium again afterwards. Presumably though, this loophole will have been already closed (I can't check, as I've never sold a coal premium)...

I've been annoyed by this mistake since they renamed it. I still refer to it as 'Arsenal' as that was actually spelled correctly (and I think it fits better).

They don't need it for wows as premiums are selling to well. Players are buying new premium ships full price and even buying loot boxes with only a chance of getting a premium. Them adding the option to save money by discounting via an older premium ship would mean that sells aren't going well anymore and they would only need such an offer to bait people in to spend more money they otherwise wouldn't.

There are a bunch of noisy blighters (who live alarmingly close to me - thank gods for Lake Ontario!) who are labouring under the misapprehension that 'Armoury' doesn't require the letter 'u'. Needless to say, they are incorrect.

 

Since we're talking about the EU server, the least WG can do is to use the correct spelling in this instance (let NA have their 'Armory', even though the Canadians also spell the word correctly)...

I disagree. We should purge the world of the u-fearing 'Muricans butchering perfectly fine words such as armoury, colour, and aluminium
