Imagine the marketing that sells free stuff.

Imagine you are getting a free new car , but the guy who is giving it for free tells you, if you want you can buy it now for a lot of money or you can wait and get it for free. What would you do? Ofc wait.

So why are we feeding them with money on stuff that are free? Its like donating money to WG. Why we as a players dont do anything to stop these kind of money milking from people? Are we that much not powerful? Without us they are nothing.

Not a fan of this random bundle fiasco myself - it's the same formula over and over from WG and rather seemingly obviously rigged in their favour. Noone begrudges them a bit of money, but it's boring now. Obviously they make money from it and so keep doing it. The longer we see this repeat only means people are supporting the idea. Not me though, total garbage. If I see a good deal I'll possibly take it, but there are none in any of this. Nothing is free either, there is always a cost one way or the other.

 

Remember the makarov episode folks? Well, since then I automatically assume there is very little 'random' in WG's random box formula. There is no doubt in my mind they'll tweak the drop rate in their favour, only letting a few slip through here and there to create hype of some kind. If you assume this too you'll save swathes of cash.

I've never bought any random bundle. 

I don't intend to buy any RNG-based content simply because I'm not a fan of the gacha style for making money and I don't want to support this kind of behavior in any game I play.

The only early access I would support is for bugfixes.

I do check the first random box since the contents are displayed. Last time ( German dd line) it was the T9 as a first drop. So I decided that it saved me much grind etc etc. and bought it. Just checked my Dutch cruiser drop. It was no Johan De Witt so the rng boxes are on my ignore list now. Will never know if the T9 is in the second box or in the last…

Bundles for tokens - yes. The ones for doubloos - never.

Ok i have no big issue with this type of gambling box.. IF someone wants to spend money and gamble to get what will be a tech tree ship for free later.. Well that's there thing..

 

I DO however have a big issue with the Agincourt gambling boxes we had a few patches ago. Hiding a ship only behind gambling boxes.. That's deplorable  I'm my mind

Yeah

They can't reward the tokens for just playing the game, and then those tokens for buying em.

They could have just kept the T9 under NDA and still as a test ship.

Scam indicates fraud. If you show the odds it is not the correct definition.. 

For me it is just uninteresting. With cheaper boxes it might have been interested to take a few, but cheap is not consistent with WG these days.

The Halloween boxes the first year (with the steamcamos) when you got doubloons for the duplicates where pretty good, bacjk then the camo supply was more limited so the other content was OK.

Let us say the cost was 50% I might have gambled a few (5-10)  (for tokens to T8), but now out of the question. 

 

It is not that you are not able to do a informed decision - 1/72 says it all - no further info requred for me at least.

Naturally if it is in the first box it is another matter or if I am very close to a target, I predict 0 for myself for now. 

 

But remember that for players that do have far more money than time the calculation might be different.

It is as if you pay to convert XP to speed up grinds just in another form, so if the desicion is to pay to convert XP to FREEXP and boost your way up the tech tree, paying for boxes might be reasonable, I am sure that WG sees it this way.

 

Or buying a few extra pints or buying boxes - it is the leisure account and it differs a lot. And I do think quite a lot of players have large such accounts. The whole prizing is attuned to that.

I normally check what's going to be in the first box (assuming it's the type that tells you contents in advance), the only thing I'd consider buying would be a (higher tier) ship, but even then it'd be a close call to do so.  So far haven't had any pop up, so no reason to think too hard about it!

The thing is, it's more like the guy would have soon a car meeting with a lot people, and he can have now a new car, or the new car for the meetings later. So there is some kind of buy pressure.

Guess that's why people buy it, or because they have too much money v_v

I remember with the "US fat BB" line, people got Minnesota in random bundle one for 1k dubloons, while others whaled themselves through them. Same for italian BB line. I find this even more ridiculous, since naturally those lucky players advertise their luck in the forums or elsewhere, making others jump on those bundles and get hard-scammed. To me it is a completely disrespectful situation even offering early access to tech tree ships for such an insane gamble and prize. Additionally, WG actively promotes not only early access to new ships, but also early access to higher tiers, making the match quality worse and worse. They could not display more how less they care about the game's quality to be honest. The player quality gets worse and worse when you have people with 200 battles in tier IX and X. In the end it is the fault of the customer to cash in on such a scam, but naturally games like this are designed in a way to tempt people to drop a dime here and there, potentially getting hooked with a good gamble or two. It is just mind-boggling.

I bought enough to bag the T6, and got a bunch of useful dragon flags at the same time; unless I'm missing something though, the motivation to keep going further is essentially zero as I've achieved my aims:

• Got the T6, so can try the new mechanic out in Ops, and avoid having to play against the T4 CV plague.
• Got some dragon flags that I want for my regrind.

Unlike at least some previous early access things, there appears not to be any coal available in the bundles, and (as @Fatal_Ramses points out) the Asian cammo bundles are pretty poor value (Type 59 costs 125 doubloons; how is an Asian cammo possibly worth four times that, even with the Dutch tokens?!).

Unless i get the tier 9 in the first bundle i'm not buying. Hell, now that i think of it, even if it was in the first box... why would i buy a tech tree ship even for 1k dubs, if i like the branch i will grind them and enjoy playing them, if i don't like it even if i get the tier 9 it is useless to me.  Also the DZP dockyard event is coming next month, you have to buy 3 phases to get it for total of 4500 dubs, which i expect will be 3000-3500 if you buy the starter pack, so no point gambling now.

I think it's technically two cammos (if it's the same as Asian Lantern); still poor value though...

 

This edition of early access looks to me as if WG are trying to work out how stingy the bundles can be and still sell...

I have seen at least 5 today, but apart from the whales all players probably check and I think most will buy if it shows as first bundle.
