Epoch Camo – personal survey

Hey guys!

 

I recently finished the Epoch collection and am now sitting on two permanent camouflages for tier IX ships. I am not a huge fan of gameplay at that tier, but have quite a few grinds going on there at the moment.

My question to you guys as the community: Which tier IX boats did you put the Epoch camos on? I have already gone through the Ibuki, and I can't say that she was my favourite ship, and I can say for definite that the Dmitri Donskoi will not be kept once I have managed to grind through her again (did the Moskva before she was turned into a coal boat).

My personal bugbears at tier IX are currently the Alsace, the Brindisi, the Roon, the two Russian DDs, the two IJN DDs, and I have unlocked the Seattle and the Fat Freddy, while homing in on Iowa and Lion. Of all these, I would say the Yugumo is the one I enjoy playing the most. Alsace and Brindisi are okay, but I am terrible at even trying to carry with them, I cannot do Kitakaze, the two Russians are not my thing, although the Udaloi is bearable, and I have yet to understand the Roon.

What is people's opinion on where these camos should go? Should I stick with Yugumo, as she is probably the closest to a tier IX keeper for me?

 

Where did people put their Epoch camos? Maybe Fletcher or Chung Mu are worthwhile? Or do I have to do the long haul for the Mogador? I am not asking for you to tell me which the best ship is, as I know that there is no "best ship", and that everything depends on individual preferences, but it would really interest me which boats you guys consider keepers and why.

 

So, help an old geezer   out and give me your reasoning, so that I may be able to make a better-informed decision.

mogador, roon, kita, freddy, jutland, may z46 and some others which not hop to mind right away.

Epoch? 

I use it on Izumo. I have better camos for other ships. I hope I get enough of those Black red white camos for Germans coz I love them like that

I used it on Alsace and Soyuz. If I had to make a choice today, then it would be Mogador and Drake.

I used mine on Izumo and Yugumo. Later when i grinded FdG i used the Christmas perma camo on her.

I used it on my first T9s that really don't like getting shot at - Fletcher & Neptune.

Haven't used mine yet, I have T9 camos for Kita and Brindisi from Halloween and New Year. I plan to use these camos on Lepanto and Drake as of now. I'm also considering Johan de Witt as an alternative but I'm waiting to see if she is a free xp sink or a decent ship.

Kita being a very good DD and on the cheapest line in terms of XP for RB makes her a very good choice imo.

There's no rush, just wait until you find a T9 that you play on a regular basis and enjoy a lot.

I put the camos on:

2x Yugumo

3x Kitakaze

1x Izumo

2x Friedrich

3x Z-46

1x Neptune

1x Östergötland

1x still unattached

I am still working on that collection but one is reserved for Z-46, the other undecided.

It depends a bit on which ships (if any) already have permaflage; if nothing does, as a DD main, I might go with one - or both - of Yugumo, and Jutland (honourable mention for Feltcher), as - IMO - they're perhaps the best silver T9 DDs, and most likely to be worth keeping.

 

I can't remember where mine actually ended up (possibly the French T9, and whatever comes before Khaba?), as most of my DDs had permaflage already.

Roon and Iowa. I think you need to give one to a ship where you want to grind past it reasonably quickly (Roon, for me) and the other to a ship you like and want to play without a high credit cost (Iowa).

What's the 'disposable' cammo economy like at the moment? Most of my ships have permaflage, plus I'm an idiot and buy containers now and again, so I've rather lost track.

 

Isn't the xp gain on T9 permaflage 'only' 100%? In which case, you can usually do better with disposable cammo (and make the silver elsewhere) - that'll get you past your 'nasty' T9 (<looks sideways at Seattle>) as fast as possible and enable you to keep the permaflage for something fun...?

Alsace and Izumo - both are required for regrinds in the RB when I get 21 p on the T7-10. I have several permacamos on T9 before so it was many good ships that already had perma. WG has had a few sales on perma w 50% off - long time ago when I purchased f.e. Fletcher and a few others.

Apologies - I meant another, more fun, T9; the suggestion was to use one to get you past a stinker as quickly as possible.

This is a very good consideration that I'd forgotten about: permaflage on regrind lines can be very helpful if you're short on disposable cammo. That said, if I have it, I try and use Asian or Type 59 cammo from about T8, to speed things up as much as possible (even when I do have permaflage available).

I put them on the Donskoi and Mogador, mainly because they are somewhat enjoyable (and I already had the christmas camo for the Kitakaze) and because I played them a lot in CB.

Udaloi and Kitakaze because I already had perma camos for Yugumo (favourite T9 by far), Donskoi, Alsace and some others.

 

Perma camos are good for a ship you will keep playing just because it's fun. Expendable camos are better for special events (+xp and the likes) and (re-)grinds.

 

If you have a lot of expendable camos in stock you can wait with your decision until you are sure which ship is special enough for you.

Exactly the same here. It's actually quite pretty on my IOWA...
