The Kearsage looks a awfull lot like the USN decided to actually make something off that monstrosity Gibbs & Cox made for the VMF..

I'm pretty sure that the USN wanted exactly as much to do with that as the VMF did, NOTHING what so ever.

Wargaming surely didnt take long with announcing more hybrids. That aside Rochester is practically a better Baltimore. Carrying one less consumable for Hydro and Radar with the latter being slightly inferior in range and duration doesnt justify the elimination of Baltimores short range AA for a very powerful mid range AA with a range equal to that of Des Moines. I am not going to waste time with Carnot. 25mm plating at tier 9. No.

WG your doing the same mistake as with the Congress T8 Alaska, you have the heavier turret mounted higher up on the ship surely for stability the French Engineers had learnt from their top heavy Pre-Dreadnaughts and put the 4 barrelled turret lower than the triple?

Kearsage appears to be inspired by the afformentioned Gibbs and Cox Design B;

Carnot sounds, but sadly does not look, like the 23,700ton protected cruiser concept that came before Dunkerque.

While its nice with some historical reference it is insane to see how WG can screw it up so hard with the A-B turrets on the French cruiser, just like they have done with the USS Congress.

Now we just have to speculate in what resources will be used, I bet that's aa FXP supercruiser and a coal hybrid (just worried what it trades for its planes compared to tech tree ships).

Kearsage: The entire idea of a hybrid is gone in this particular one. Its a better minnesota with planes. Full feelings in General discussion thread

Rochester: Looks spicy. Would love to see a div of Baltimore, Rochester and Wichita. Having one less consumable will make things a bit tougher so conservation skills have to be the best for this cruiser's potential to be unlocked. Better AA is always nice. Slightly less HP and reload tho. 3 second worse rudder for better conceal. I am interested.

Carnot: Looks pretty ok. Not the most interested but its ok ig. Depend on her HP. Did notice that she has longer reload than average SC. But she does throw out a fair amount of shells. Ig that's reasonable. Fire chance is pretty meh tho.

Ok devblog if Kearsage wasn't there

Looking at the Carnot. I just dont think it will be very good at Suviving ^^

Its just too Bulky and Big of a Target for 25mm Plating ^^

It will basicly be a Glass Cannon I guess.

But what I am wondering much more about right now.

Is WG trying to Add more Hybrid Ships for other Nations than Japan.

Because I wonder if we will also see the German Approach.

As some might Know. Germany only had Seaplane Carriers in WW1 but not in WW2.

Germanies Hybrid Designs in WW2 were much more Geared towards the Aircraft Part.

https://www.german-navy.de/kriegsmarine/zplan/flugdeckkreuzer/index.html

Taking the most Heavy Armed of the Designs. Which is the AIII

It would have 2x3 280mm Guns, 8x 150mm Guns and 8x 105mm Guns.

Which means it would have a Large Secondary Battery but only a very Weak Main Battery.

Which is Extremely Different from the Current Hybrid Ships which all come with a Pretty Hefty Main Battery.

However. They would have 32 Actual Aircraft Carried. Thus not just having Floatplanes.

Judging by the ship's HP Pool, what WG have done is to merge the pre-Dunkerque concepts of a 32,000 ton fast Battlescruiser (capable of 33 knots +) and a 24,000 ton Super Cruiser armed with 305mm guns.  And the 24,000 ton design did have the turrets arranged that way (shown below, from John Jordan's book on French Battleships).

I'd prefer her as a Tier IX Tech Tree and for Buffalo to be quietly towed away and parked somewhere as a source of Mozzarella.

@Tanatoy The turrets on Carnot are wrong.

Put the triple turret in the superfiring position, and put the quadruple below it.

How about first wait for more info about armour and then complain about it. 25mm in DevBlog means 25mm bow and stern which is standard armour for all T9 and T10 CAs and SCs but those German and US. This doesn't necessary mean that it is 25mm all around.

Buffalo is more fitting at T9, Oregon City is basically a Baltimore with different superstructure and same armament. Having a same class at two consecutive tiers in same arrangement is not a best solution.

And WG, that T9 US BB hybrid is such BS.

yes but it 25mm plating. So that means the armor mentioned is the bow and stern. Until we have the armor don't jump to conclusions

I would describe it a bit different:

Kearsage: An Iowa with four turrets (and better Minnesota reload) and an attack squadron. Hmm - actually, it is a shorter range Montana with less armour but fighters instead. This ship could also be placed at T10. So, I expect some remarkable nerfs (f.e. sigma 1.8) but the ship and the concept looks interesting.

Rochester: It looks spicy at a first glance. Then you realize that the radar ist light cruiser level (9km), the concealment therefore too high and the rudder shift is Baltimore stock, which is a heavy downgrade, particularly if you compare it to Wichita. The AA is improved in medium and long range but short range is completely missing. Flak remains unchanged. And of course, you have one consumable less. Or in other words, you trade all of this for the additional use of hydro. Worth it? In fact, I ask myself if an IFHA-Cleveland is a better choice. I do not expect any changes and the ship will be added to the armory. Some will buy it but most of the players skip it (like Wichta).

Carnot: Alaska on speed but with less gun power (alpha, fire chance, standard pen angles) and the reload is more or less BB level. I also expect a less armored mid section compared to alaska.

For some reason the reload boost is missing. Unfortunately, the combination of reload/speed-boost makes Bourgogne and Bayard attractive. If speed is the only selling point though then we are moving towards Flandre... which is in fact less attractive

I expect the reload to be buffed to Alaska level or if we are lucky, WG really adds the reload boost. Otherwise this thing will end up as an Azuma and players will complain about the bad fire chances.

Kearsage is by no means interesting. What made Ise interesting is it having junk firepower but planes and using them simultaneously brings big dmg numbers. This is literally a Montana with Planes. Nothing less

Rochester is still interesting coz it will make me play Balti a bit differently. This is how premiums should be. A bit different from the original tech tree. If a new ship is to be introduced, make a new line with other new ships. If its too unique them make it special ship, that's how it should have worked but its not how it works so whatever

Carnot is a high speed yoshino with better amor and more guns. Not particularly interesting but its ok

You realized that you compare those ships with T10, right? And, using your words, Ise is also a Fuso with planes and less guns - so nothing less.

Kearsage has more guns and rocket planes. So per construction it has a higher DPM than Iowa and Minnesota.

Premiums should offer a different play style. In fact, I cannot see this when comparing the ship to Wichita. You should play Rochester more aggressively (due to the shorter radar, hydro and dev AA) but get worse rudder as trade-off. Sure, you can argue that your AA is buffed, but this wont help against surface ships that you will be primarily confronted with.
