Also there doesn't seems to be clear pattern on which accounts can and which can't login. For example I can't login there, too.

Out of interest: given that test servers apparently haven't been providing useful data for sub development thus far, why is this one going to be any different?

That is not true, that previous tests haven't provided any data for development. It is very visible on the list of changes that are coming from each round. Also as you can see, plenty of those changes are based on gathered feedback and popular suggestions.

Tested all classes again. Still:

 

- ASW is fun, I like the additional tasks, gives a more acardy gameplay

- Subs are boring. Still. I wish they were as fun as the Halloween-subs back then. :Smile_amazed:

I'm sure it isn't true, but if you look at my post you'll also notice it's not what I said: there's a difference between no data and no useful data. And if the test servers have been so useful, why was so much effort made by yourselves at WG to claim otherwise when people objected to subs being brought to the live servers in an unfinished state?

So far the Periscop depth seems pointless, when using pings. It depeltes battery, but keeps the same concealment.
What I want try next, a torpedo-speed build without homing. So torps are max speed and I get very close to the enemy to make easy hits

As mentioned above, I'm testing the periscope-depth non-homing playstyle right now, maybe this is the way, how it is more fun. Getting really close and stay stealthy

Except the pinging and concealment punishment at periscope depth, I think it's a good version of submarine. You get blind, when diving, this gives the thrill. But you get also invisible more or lesss

The biggest issue is, th atthere are a lot subs, dds and cruisers, less bbs^^

Also against BBs, Ithink it's the best to go for floods. Launch 1 set of torps, wait 30s, than the second

Submarines are super cool, and a welcome addition to the game.

But, you need to be able to recharge the batteries. Its not cool, that you can only dive for 4 min out of 20 min... and no be able to recharge that somehow. Thats just lame! So you need some way of recharging battery or if not, make the total dive time longer... like 10 min... not 4!

Seems like we are playing and watching some other game :) Current PTS iteration of subs looks like an absolute trainwreck on so many levels it's not even funny. Super boring to play and taking slots of actual ships in the game, so it feels more empty and devoid of life. T6 subs forced to stay on surface most of the game spamming 11km torps from behind their own DDs. Fantastic design. Not to mention some big brain changes like the whole "diving capacity" nonsense and the genius idea of showing the remaining amount on enemy subs is just a touch of brilliance. In an insane asylum that is....

 

Subs are looking cool, but plays horrendously and it's a welcome addition to the game if you want to finally bury it and walk away.

I meant that subs as a ship type is cool! And as such would be a welcome addition. But, in the game right now, they suck so bad and they are not fun at all. They are hardly playable!

I totally agree on everything you say... I have been looking forward to subs since forever, but if this is it. Forget it! Its so bad, that I can't see how anyone would want to play them in their current test server form!

Well, the problem is more, that we have massive amounts of subs and dds. In a game with 1 sub and maybe 1 or 2 dds it would be compeltly different. Like a 3 dd match

 

I think this version of the submarines is the best so far, but it needs adjustments

 

-The periscope depth, so good we have it now, but sadly pointless, if using pings. After pinging, the submarine gets concealment like surfaced, with the disadvantage of depleting the battery. so why going Periscope depth anyways? Only for straight close torping it would make sense. But then we need better, stronger torpedos for that. (My suggestion was 2 types of torpedos. Homing, long distance torps and short-range, non-homing, hard-hitting torpedos.

 

-Secondaries: Also good we got it now, but they seem to hit not much. They should be manual, or very precise. I almost got a DD kill, but I needed 2, 3 hits, got only 1 done.

Main problem is the subs just dont fit into this game at all and WG has chance of snowball in hell to actually make it playable.

 

There are so many absolutely stupid ideas they are trying to push.... For starters the whole concept of homing torps is pure idiocy, make them hit harder but just use normal targetting. Get rid of the whole diving capacity and bring back the normal battery system with recharging on surface. Secondaries are a meme and total joke, not meant to be used for a real fight. Also if you cram stupid subs into our throats , then you need to raise the amount of ships in the matches. Otherwise it's just not gonna be fun at all, it's already infested with too many ships playing their own minigame (Cancer Vehicles for starters) and not being a part of the actual battle with consequences.

 

Subs would be perfect for a separate Convoy mode, which could be potentially very popular. But trying to force them into Randoms and Ranked (lol) is just absolute and unfiltered drunk madness. But hey it's WG we are talking about...
