Being sensible: I'd suggest it depends on several factors:

• I can't imagine there is much chance she won't be nerfed to some degree; will you get your money's worth before that happens?
• Subs are coming; ditto.
• Do you object to giving money to WG on general principles?

Could turn out to be a co-op only ship later....

 

She's fun now, but who knows?

Yes. It's highly overrated. If you can't use torpedo bombers well it won't do you and your team any good.

spoken in general, if one has no clue what he buys, he doesnt have a clue about what he is buying. so, i'd advice that one simply to not buy it...

It is like a Kongo with torpedo planes strapped onto it.

 

If you don't like how a Kongo plays, dont buy this as it is it's main way of fighting. The torpedo planes are a gimmick that lets you hit targets your guns ( often temporarily ) can't reach.

 

If you use the planes often or without proper cause you get a low(er) score as their travel time to target steals main gun salvo damage from you. It also has terrible gun angles, you cant fire behind you ( plane platform in the way ) until turning almost full broadside. So it hinders normal BB play a lot.

 

If you want to play something special this is a nice ship however.

I like the Ise a lot. It provides some new, refreshing challenges what comes to getting the most out of your ship. Also it is just 20 something Euros.

 

If you like CV gameplay and don't mind playing in tier 6, then absolutely get it. If you don't like CV gameplay, then don't get it.

If I didnt feel shafted and didnt have so low regards and respect for WGs chosen path, it would be an insta buy for me. But Ive learned from WOT. Once they double down on their preference slowly raping what I find fun in their initial design, money spent is money wasted. A hard pass because I think they are poor pvp gameplay designers basically. A shame really, it looks like a fun and weird ship and i like weird. But I cant even get myself to let them have 20 euros anymore.

Since I expect WG to abuse the nerf-disclaimer in order to power-creep new premiums even faster, I stopped buying new prems for now. 

 

Also what good is a T6 apart from current Ranked?

I'm going to ignore the nerf-disclaimer as this is part of a general policy shift and applies to ALL new premiums while OP's question is related to Ise specifically. Good reasons to not buy Ise:

- If one generally doesn't play T6 ships and is not interested in T6 content.

- A general distaste for P2W "microtransactions" (there's nothing micro about WG prices).

- Disliking battleship and/or carrier gameplay.

 

I bought her instantly and I do not regret it, Ise is hands down the most fun ship I have ever driven in this game. I am absolutely certain that she will be nerfed but I can live with that as I didn't buy her because she is OP but because her gameplay is a uniquely flexible blend of battleship with a bit of carrier.

reasons why not to buy Ise?

 

1. You would have to reward WG for stupid game design choices (= the flying attack options and inefficiency of AA) by throwing money at them, which would make them just more dumb game design choices in the future
2. if you don't how to handle something like this hybrid you will not be able to battle efficiently and hurt your team's chance to win
3. some players - me for example - will find tons amusement in trying to down any enemy Ise they meet just for the lulz. Imagine a bullseye tattoed on your forehead...

I'm tempted to get it as gimmicks can be fun but I'm not a great BB or CV player (or anything else for that matter but they're the low-hanging fruit on that particular skill tree) so combining the two could be a recipe for disaster. Or a recipe for fun and frolics. 

 

Honestly, I dunno. Looks like it could be fun in a division but considering how few Ise divs I've seen in mid-tier battles since the day after launch I'm guessing it wears off pretty quickly.

I cannot help but smile at the comparisons we all so often make, like you did above, as if this in some way justifies it's value. How often we fall prey to our bias - in this case its anchoring, or perhaps some kind of pre-purchase rationalisation, comparing the cost with some obscure other thing we could be (but not necessarily so) spending the same amount of cash on. Somehow this makes it reasonable to buy it? Wonder how many of us do this?

As an experiment, I tried Ise out in Ranked earlier (just one game, because I'm not a complete scumbag): the opposing team did seem rather keen to sink me, it has to be said.

 

It also ought to be mentioned that - in this case - it probably lost them the game, as while I was getting my Dreadnought, the cruisers and DDs on my side had a more or less free rein, and basically won the game (although I believe I bagged a couple of kills)...

Basically you only buy it if you have a very very good shower and do not mind using it several times a day. 

That is - when you are playing BB and CV about equally, else you might have some trouble. 

I think it is interesting. I also think it is sick filth. But hey... WeeGee makes some dreams come true...
