Dumbing down on flags!

Thank you so much Lesta for getting rid of flags from earning achievements it was so hard, now every bloody 40% can get flags by playing the game. The one who tryhard and kills left and right? Nothing no reward for such a game like this, even if it was a loss. Please dumb this game down for the 40% even more. I propose giving every one of them 100k of steel every year. 

Ohh I am very sure that that ohio did not liked to get his 10 detonation flags, for sure not.

Agreed removing flags from achievements is not good.

 

Trying hard and getting kills does reward you. More damage = more XP and credits, but those flags, WG clearly want us to buy them from now on.

Now you take Thunderer, do your 50k HE spam behind spawn, get 1 random achievement weekly and get equal amount of flags with @Animalul2012 .

Are we talking about any particular signal flags in general that the OP is unhappy at not receiving anymore? I really loathe it when people use the forum to indirectly boast of their fantastic battle performance.

 

Secondly, is it agreed a better player would more often receive achievements, therefore more signal flags? I think so. Following this, do some signal flags not also offer advantages in the game, i.e better speed, fire starting, flood / fire mitigation and healing, better secondary efficiency, AA cover, etc??? I think so again. So, we can assume a better player would have a better supply of advantageous signal flags, thereby giving him an even better advantage in the game? In this sense it makes sense WG would want to make signals more readily available to everyone. Though I can understand why some players would complain because it might mean having to play a little more fairly for once. Sportsmanship be damned eh?

 

Just my humble thoughts on one way of looking at it, though I would like to know WG's real motivation. I don't quite trust them.

But wasnt it also some sort of tiny motivation to become better player for those who believe its all about flags?

Trust... neither does Malwarebytes. With the update today it just flagged WGC/website as 'Compromised'....:Smile_sceptic:

This won't help with that. The flag believers will now throw all their available resources at securing even more flags, because they hope to gain even more of an edge over 'less resourcefull' players.

It's more insidious than that. 

 

Come with me on a journey.

 

Example - New players needs to spend a LOT of real money if they want to use signals in every battle.

 

Example 2 - I only need to buy some premium time and take out my Musashi/Kutuzov/Thunderer or other incredible credit earners. Doing this i can spend 50 million credits and up easily per week on buying signals from the armory.

 

IMHO the signals ''income gap'' has only increased. Players who have been around longer have more options for earning credits to buy needed items.

Well as random battles player only i did like flags, i started to love them after cpt rework (german bbs), now i dont care, team will suffer not me, so when my flags will end i will burn longer, secondaries will have shorter range, i will heal less.

Thats how i see it, team will suffer not me.

then why not remove them completely ? that would the most fair situation ....

This is the biggest issue as I see it. 

 

Imagine being a new player and trying to contribute/compete - how long before burn out happens?  Players feeling that they'll never manage to become competitive unless they grind and pay isn't going to result in a dedicated and loyal player base.  Once people feel they'll "never catch up" they'll stop trying (if they're sane) and either quit or play without trying to be competitive (causing other players to rage against the low skill, no modules, no camo and no flags non-meta silver ship in ranked).

 

Anyhow, I don't see "dumber"/newer players getting unfairly rewarded with flags - I see a greater and increasing disparity between the well resourced and those that aren't.  And, over time, it's a disparity that won't serve either WG or committed players.

Lol once again the complaining on this forum sigh…WG removed premium modules last year So that has been a benefit for all. WG gave us daily goodies with some silver, FXP,  crates that can drop everything and even SC etc. And now we all can get up to 8 flag containers + 3 * 5 special flags that you could not earn before regulary a week.

 

 But no one here is looking at that. No they prefer to whine solely about losing flags from achievements. Without looking at the larger picture. In the old days we got weekends with 100% bonus but free goodies and events were sparse. And achievements were then your only stable income for flags… those days are gone for long. We get spoiled with all the free goodies. I  sold flags because I had unneeded numbers. Will sell them even more now with this change.

 

Dont pretent that your ship needs to be fully loaded with the max number of flags each battle. You could not finance that in the long run before and neither can you now. And if you really feel you need you can buy them with ingame free currency also given too you in greater abundance due the extra crates since they also give coal and silver. 
 

Use your flags accordingly taking into account supply and stock and the kind of match. Randoms or coop and using flags? Maybe not because of either the change of being in a bad team makes investing in the match a big risk or the low income of coop and the guaranteed win makes flags almost pointless.

The income gap has been made smaller. First because of the removal of premium consumables last year but now with the more equal handouts of flags. Before you had a group of players that could fully load their ship with flags in all battles. Not because they bought them but got them by playing the game by farming achievements.If you were one of the new guys you had an extra disadvantage. Now the new future will be that the auto full load of flags will become much harder to maintain without actually spending additional resources on buying them. Everyone has the same weekly income due to the weekly flag mission. That only gives enough flags to use them in a more limited way. 
 

If you are so set on having that extra advantage due to having more flags to spend, yes you can buy them..but that’s rather a heavy price to pay for that limited extra advantage. Not many will do that. And not for randoms. So the poor guy gets a relative easier time.

So instead of improving the player base, just remove all rewards?

Makes sense, it's easier to nerf good players than to buff potatoes.
