TheWarJaC Players 3,049 posts 988 battles Report post #1 Posted May 27, 2021 Grand Battle A new temporary battle type—Grand Battle—awaits you, and its main feature comes in the form of super battleships. When legendary battleship Yamato was destroyed by aircraft carriers, it presaged the domination of deck aviation in naval warfare. Super battleships are the ships that might have existed if shipbuilding had moved toward the development of main batteries as the primary decisive factor of battle. Two super battleships will be available to you in the Grand Battle: Satsuma is a project based on Yamato with reinforced primary armament—510 mm guns in four twin-gun turrets. Hannover is a version of the H-42 project with 483 mm guns in four twin-gun turrets and her secondary battery replaced with dual-purpose artillery with a caliber of 128 mm. Things You Should Know Battle format is 9 vs 9, playing Tier IX–X ships, including super battleships. Restrictions: no more than three super battleships per team. Once Update 0.10.5 is released, you will receive Satsuma and Hannover for rent. To enter battle at the helm of a super battleship, you will need a new temporary resource—Intelligence Reports. Participate in the Grand Battle playing Tier IX–X ships to earn the new resource. The rewards include Dazzling expendable camouflages, a commemorative flag, and the Grand Battle patch. Adjustment Fire New mechanics have been added for the super battleships—adjustment fire. Each gun salvo that hits a locked target, or lands near it, fills the adjustment fire meter. As soon as it is filled, some ship characteristics get a temporary boost. Satsuma receives a bonus to the accuracy of her main battery; Hannover receives a bonus to the range and accuracy of her secondary battery. The bonuses can be applied an unlimited number of times in a single battle. If the ship ceases firing for a certain amount of time, the progress of the adjustment fire meter resets. Thanks to the new mechanics, you can reinforce your ship directly in battle, but to use this feature to maximum effect, you will need to plan your actions and positioning in advance. This will make the gameplay more interesting and diverse.

[ODIUM] Dinichthys Players 33 posts Report post #4 Posted May 28, 2021 The idea to introduce Super BBs in a special game mode is good in my opinion. However, implementation could be more entertaining. I tried one game in Satsuma and one in Hannover, one as T9 DD, one as T9 BB. The Super BBs do not seem very strong to me, more like a "normal" T10 BB. They get farmed quickly and are rather helpless without full support like many BBs. If they are meant to be a special "boss" ship maybe it might be a good idea to make them more resilient against fire / flooding / torpedoes? E.g. let them only take a quarter of the damage or so? Give them better armor in general? Make Hannover secondaries seriously dangerous? I stopped after these four games as you need 16 intel points, but receive only 3 per battle, no matter how you perform (but you have 26 on login = 2 normal games for 32 intel = 2 games). That means easily 90 minutes plus to be allowed to field one of these ships for one battle where they do not stand out very much. As much as i like different game modes (asymmetric battles were a very good idea, but also poorly implemented), I have to pass on grinding the points for this one. [R7S] lovelacebeer Players 3,858 posts 24,670 battles Report post #7 Posted May 28, 2021 Really don’t like this mode thus far I found the automated gunner bonus on the Hannover irritating but that’s in part as I hate the sound effect it’s distracting as is charged up and down. Also when you die the sound keeps going off and on, off and on non stop so it’s insufferable to watch the battle with the sound on. Both ships are pretty easy to deal with, a Des Moines can easily chew through either BB with ease, will try it with DDs tomorrow but so far I’m spectacularly unimpressed by the lack of effort from WG on this mode. Play a random battle in the T8 of your choice, it should give you enough XP to research the next one, it's only 4k needed to unlock a ship. Two battles unlocks a T10. You need to play tech tree ships in Grand battles to earn tokens to play the super battleships. Hope that helps.
AraAra_My_Ass_Is_Blasted Players 67 posts 6,657 battles Report post #11 Posted May 29, 2021 CVs allowed in a gamemode taking place in an alternate world where superBBs were the focus and not CVs, that already tells a lot. Gotta love seeing a "superBB" bullied by a single CV taking 20k of its health with every runs. Also the automatic use of the special consummables is a terrible idea, because it's gonna activate when you don't need it (secondaries out of range for Hannover and while satsuma is maneuvering, with the terrible turret traverse if the consummable activates you either can't shoot anything or aren't using the full potential). And anyway these ships will get bullied by DDs and HE spammers. Also the special Hannover perk is terrible to activate, make it so the secondaries are charging it, not the main turrets... And you might want to change the ways you get the intellignce reports, i already see some peoples abusing the system by just suicide rushing BBs in a DD and launching all torps to get enough points, because you get more points overall if you chain suicide than if you do 20 minutes games seriously, because you don't reward good players, you reward dumb and fast tactics. [B-EYE] Barwena [B-EYE] Players 529 posts 22,429 battles Report post #17 Posted May 30, 2021 Congratulation Grand battle a first good idea from a very long time after series of many stupid monster killing events. Super BBs are nice to play and give a lot of fun. Althought I have a few questions: Why points required for start battle by using super BBs are named inteligence reports (IR). Inteligence reports can be usefull if we need to build a those BBs (in dockyard) before enter to battle, but It sounds strange when I must colect inteligence reports to enter to battle? Maybe rename is a good idea. Super BBs tokens for example. Why I can't use a premium ships of tier 9-10 to earn a IR, and have to use only a standard ships? Why Satsuma don't have a sound of gunshoot known krown from Shikishima 510mm guns? Finaly I hope that kind of battles will became a standard game mode in WoWS not only short event. Mayby a new dockyard event will be devoted to build Satsuma, Hanover or both of them and use them in this battle mode. That would be great.

Thanks to the new mechanics, you can reinforce your ship directly in battle, but to use this feature to maximum effect, you will need to plan your actions and positioning in advance. This will make the gameplay more interesting and diverse. The BBs are very nice Satsuma is another sniper. You could have made her quite tanky by removing the cheek weakness Hannover is what the German T10 BB should have been. The guns are very good. They are decent at long range, and very good mid to close in. The secs are quite nice, and with booster its extremely dangerous. It would make an interesting consumable for the German BBs. Adjustment fire is interesting and making it unique to a nation, each of its classes and premiums, and their roles would be nice. It should however be counted when you hit a ship regardless of whether its spotted or not. Also the booster, which is available when the player reaches the goal, should be activated at the players own will. If any of you have played the mobile game temple run, you know about the booster which activates upon collecting a set number of coins. If you didn't, I see your a man with no culture, don't look at me and go and play it. So basically upon a certain amount of coins collected in the run, a special booster is available, and upon the player's will it can be activated. For temple run, it is mostly unique to the configuration you set up and character you play, so it can be running as fast af boi, being invincible so you go right through obstacles without dying, magnetic abilities to unlock the next booster, etc. So this concept can be implemented here. After 4-5 salvos fired in the vicinity of the enemy (about 50m-100m from the center point of the ship), you get the increase. Say you hit the ship atleast once in those 5 salvos, you get the boost, but if you don't hit the ship, the bar will fill up half to what it would if you hit the ship. So upon hitting the ships in five salvos, boost is activated. That doesn't mean you activate it if you hit him five times in one salvo. This is the current concept with some punishment if you don't hit the ship. For eg:- Hannover you require 5 salvos worth of shots to get the bar up Salvo 1 - salvo 5, you hit, you get the booster. So if every salvo you hit, bar goes up by 20% If you miss every time, while still the shots land in the vicinity Salvo 1-Salvo 5, it only goes up to 50%. So every time you miss but land in the vicinity, bar goes up by 10% each time. So 10 salvos of that same result to fill up the bar If you for eg hit sometimes, miss sometimes S1 - Miss, 10% S2 - Hit, 20% S3 - Miss, 10% S4 - Hit, 20% S5 - Hit, 20% S6 - Miss, 10% S7 - Miss, 10% S8 - Hit, 20% S9 - Hit, 20% S10 - Miss, 10% So in this case, your bar fills up by the 7th salvo. Now once you get the bonus activated, you can use it to your will. You can also stack it up (Among Us Mayor from Town of us Mod reference). So you activated once, you can keep it in reserve, and fill up again, and get the second boost ready. Then you can use it and once the first one runs out, a small cooldown in between and the second is ready for usage. How does that sound?

CaptainKreutzer Players 286 posts 9,096 battles Report post #20 Posted May 31, 2021 I wanna say few things, I'm casual player and 6-8 matches is too much for 1 Super BB match it needs to be lowered to 3-4 match, Gun sounds are very weird, Shikishima with 6 510 mm guns make a blast while Satsuma with 8 510 mm guns has similar sound to Thunderer it just sounds uninteresting and bad, Hannover has 8 483 mm guns compared to Yamato's 9 460 mm guns Hannover also needs Yamato gun sound to sound more epic. Now to Hannover's model, It's more about my researches about German ships so Hannover looks weird to me, I mean i give up about her being H42 thing because she it will change nothing, GK is more close to H42 at this point anyway. I gonna past all but atleast get electronics right for once, it shouldn't be hard to make it right? Hannover has mix of FuMO 25 and FuMO 27 radar systems which is good but not later war style, Pommern for an example has FuMO 26 and FuMO 23, GK has FuMO 27, FuMO 23 and FuMO 213, Most accurate one is Agir with FuMO 26, FuMO 213 and FuMO 23 being used. Tirpitz in 1944 used, 3 FuMO 26 on all main fire directors, 1 FuMO 213 radar on her AA fire director, Hipper last refit planned with FuMO 26, FuMO 25, Prinz got the Hipper's said refit before in 1944. So Hannover model to me atleast looks weird, she just like Hindenburg has late war armament and AA but uses mix of 1942 and 1944 electronics, What she should have is FuMO 26 antenna on all main rangefinders, FuMO 213 radar antenna on all AA fire directors. Make some reward missions for non superBB ships to make the player base to play right on this mode else isnt much fun to have 6 to 8 yolo players on each match. You could also limit the tokens to be received with atleast 700 base xp on win or 500 base xp on loss (random numbers adjust it on what should be better) Over all the only change i would like is that the special skill for each superBB to be not automatic activated but give the option to the player to have a time frame of lets say 50-60 secs to activated when he wants on that frame cause now sometimes i got the sec accuracy buff but with no enemy ship around the 14km or wasnt on lien of sight. IF you make this suoerBB in a special permanent mode i will be happy but i wont like them in randoms or Rank etc modes
