Why do you continue to glorify this symbol of Nazi tyranny? Why not focus on those who fought to put an end to its threat ?

isnt the sinking of that symbol a monument to those who managed to do that?

But i do not like be that british or german sailors that we glorify the amount of people who died on british and german ships. The number is big, too big...

We see it as a ship,a metal beast, not a place of eternal grave for all those who went with them to the bottom of the sea.

No, we are not glorifying the Nazi in any way. This web campaign is just to remind, that it is exactly 80 years since the famous Hunt for Bismarck happened.

So if glorify something, it is the ship itself and also the British, that managed to sink this mighty ship.

It was a great ship, innovasive with fails - Taitanic had fails too.

But because i like the ship, just as i like the Tiger and Panther tanks and the JU88 divebomber as innovasive warmashines, i don't like the man with the little moustache and his regime.

In WOWS you can glorify different ships from different countries like you can with tanks in WOT and planes in WOWP (played them all) and for me its ok - i'm a naval man, retired after 42 year and if i like a ship, no matter

where they are from, i dont necessarily like the country and their leaders too.

No one's glorifying anything. They're just remembering history, as we all should. Better to look at history and learn from it rather than wipe everything clean and pretend that nothing ever happened.

I really like both the format and the idea of the mission. I really hope we can get more of such events in the future, especially for longer engagements.

And I hope we can get the Unsinkable Sam content back too, missed out on the Ark Royal skin.

Wow that's some pretty high ship requirements. You're locking out everyone who doesn't have Prinz Eugen, Ark Royal and Cossack.

Nachi all over again?:cap_rambo:

How about a bit more of a mention of HMS Hood as it was her final fight as well and she was just as legendary

Ignoring the weak rewards, who on earth put this page together? Like, was it a conscious decision to hide weak sauce rewards as much as possible so you give as few of them away as possible? Out of the last 9 people I spoke to about this, 8 had no idea the page expanded by clicking the badges and that there was a claim button in there somewhere.

You need next time make better because I also like others didn't know that I need to click on badge, I didn't saw in first time other option exept gold ships, so next time that you know what need to make better. Also, why you can't make Bismarck strong again like it was before capt. rework and after that make options like that battle again in WOWS? Sry my English isn't very good but I hope that you can understand me.

EDIT: Good job you are made with Sabaton :) Congrats :)

Don't be an idiot. What fun would WW2 have been if the Germans  hadn't taken part? I mean, they STARTED it all, ffs!

Ladies and gentlemen, this is what happens when people speak while ignorant of facts. Time for some education.

The Hague Convention of 1907 defined the treatment of sailors and merchant ships during wartime. It was replaced in 1949 by Geneva II.

It did not prohibit any form of commerce raiding against belligerent states merchant marine ships. In fact it clearly defined when commerce raiding was not permitted, for example against clearly marked hospital ships or enemy merchant ships at the start of hostilities (radio wasn't a thing in 1907). It defined how a converted merchant raider should function, that is a regular ship of war with a military crew.

As such, and based upon naval traditions and laws, Bismarck and Prinz Eugen were on a legal mission against valid legal targets. In fact the Nuremberg Trials only charged one Kriegsmarine captain, Hellmuth von Ruckteschell, for breaking the rules of the Hague convention as a captain of a converted merchant ship/commerce raider.  And they bungled it, because naval law is not as easy as it appears.

Members of the merchant marine during WW2 knew that they were valid and legal targets. Most of them even were parts of a naval reserve. The moment an unarmed merchant ship flies a flag of a belligerent country and carries war materiel, it becomes a legal target for enemy ships. It has nothing to do with cowardice or ideology, it's a fact of war.

PS: We need a facepalm reaction.

Wargaming should not use a term like "heroic" to describe that last battle.

Tragic, fateful or doomed would fit way better.
