Hi all,

In praise of new "Ranked" system - IMHO it is the best repeating event thing the WG did in years!

Ranked Battles: The Third Season

https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/general-news/ranked-battles-3/

For me the new "Ranked" system is perfect "tool" to grind all my re-grinding lines (for "Research Bureau") and "forgotten / neglected" lines I didn't (yet) brought to Tier X! :Smile_great:

The battles are fast (much faster than "Random") and the rewards are thus better (i.e. faster battle turnaround - even defeat can bring you 1.000+ BaseXP if you are good)! :Smile_honoring:

What is your experience?

Do you use it the same way (or not)?

Always loved ranked - would enjoy it more if they did the odd T5 ranked season again as per a few years ago. :)

I really like it. Mind you, I stay in bronze.

But the mode and the rewards are nice, plus it allows me to play ships I don't get to play in randoms.

I always disliked ranked, still do, but at least stars are absolutely worthless now and don't frustrate me anymore. Just playing for some low hanging steel and gold in bronze. I do like the use of mid tiers though. I'm sick of the high tier nobbery.

Funny enough I stopped playing ranked with the new system exactly for the same reasons that many of you seem to like it, i.e. faster battles and the new rewards. In my case however I simply dislike the fact that I can burn ressources much faster in a competitive game mode now without ever getting appropriate ressources back (mainly talking about flags here).

I played ranked to grind from Tallinn to Petro, not to reach rank 1.

With this mindset, the teammates and the quality of gameplay became bearable.

I only did the mistake of reaching silver in the 1st season, will not happen again.

I don't care about the rank I reach, and just view it as a nice mid-tier romp, where you aren't constantly facing lots of things of higher tier and with concealment modules.

If there weren't missions that are more efficient in other modes, I probably wouldn't play Randoms much at all (at least until I get gored with T7)...

This. Finally will be able to play T7s without the fear of being blapped by OP special T9 BB and superheavy cruisers and outspotted and gunned down by T8-9 DDs and Enterprise:cap_haloween:

Bronze is good for fast Steel and Doubloons and so is Silver for a bit more resources but also some more and better camos. Right now i consider to go Gold, not because i like it but i need 2 Ranked token (have 8 remaining from the old Ranked) to buy the alternate perma camo for Black. Very strong T9 premium ship with +150% to XP, FXP and CXP would be really nice. Plus the Croco camo looks cool.

One of the best thing is: No +2 MM and you can decide if you play toptier or lowtier.

Worst ranked EVAR ! never seen more noobs till now ! new ranked sucks !

Hehe. Half my team has no camo, at least two are always afk, the enemy team has all the radars... Ranked is great to do potential damage missions in relaxed 5-minute-battles. There is the occasional accidental win, and who cares for ranks anymore?

Pros:

- FAIR matchmaking, only one tier difference and without getting much module difference!

- nice ships available

- games mostly without dull waiting periods: smaller maps make for faster paced matches

- occasion to use the T7 premiums that you may own without encountering much higher powered T9 or T8 ships (STRASBOURG, you'll gonna see the sea again! :cap_look:)

Cons:

- there's still a bit of avoidable unfair-ness remaining, as game veterans with high point captains are matched against players not so well equipped.

Over all, I'm pleased by this game mode, it's as the OP said.

Regards, Nightowl
