This is one of the problems with being convinced to buy a ship (Lenin) from recommendations........3 battles and one kill (by ramming) but already a font of knowledge. It's really quite hard to buy a high tier ship and enjoy it when you can't get the performance out of it, then it just feels like paying to suffer. Understanding AP shell mechanics like ricochet angles, overmatching, fuses will help you to aim correctly and judge when to fire for maximum effect and also if/when you should swap to HE. Understanding damage control mechanics like repairable HP, saturation, damage compartments, fires/floods will help keep you in the fight. Understanding concealment mechanics enables you to stay in control of your concealment, to literally disappear when you need to disengage from a fight, while still not being so far away from a fight that your accuracy suffers. Understanding national strengths and weaknesses like will help you recognise when you have the advantage and when you do not. Understanding maps, strategies and tactics will improve your situational awareness, prevents overextending into the enemy, prevents you from being caught out and enables you to play proactively rather than reactively. A lot of low tier BBs are fun, albeit slow, but lower tier games featuring lower tier ships have a much lower burden of knowledge, which can help with learning the mechanics that do exist at low tier and lays the foundations for higher tier games.
