Hi guys! After a short break of about 3 months I started playing again. Being active from the anniversary last year to the New year celebrations got me burned out, and I just lost the urge to log in. Its not the first time.

Fundamentaly I love this game, Its just what I want from a game. But chasing that next great reward is just sucking the fun out of it. I get that people want progression Im a sucker for it too. Last time I just had to get Småland and Thunderer... But for what? They are and will be Port Queens.

The downside with playing t2-4 is that you cant complete missions so you cant grind rewards... But Im starting to think its a good thing. I can play when I feel like it and just have fun, skipping a few days or weeks wont matter. If I play in a div then I guess they can choose tier.

How do you guys cope?

Regards S

For me, the real downside of t2-t4 is the constant 2cv per side problem. I enjoy many of the low tier ships like Kuma, Pheonix, Danae or the bbs of that era as well as the dds.
But that constant barrage of planes!!!???

No thank you.

As Im only playing DDs anyway, t4 CVs dont bother me that much. They are mainly food, and it makes me feel good thinking they might give up on playing that class if they get murdered a few times early in their "career". Some are fellow clubbers, but few are good enough to pose a threat.

The fact that you cannot do missions is the reason low Tier has such a low population.

WG could revive low Tier and make it more popular if at least some missions were available below Tier V (like daily missions).

Well missions used to be doable down to t4. Im not sure why they moved it up to t5. The fact that xp/credit rewards are better the higher you climb should lure most people there anyway.

Still how do you guys keep from burning out?

Short answer: I don't play for objectives.

This means:

I don't play all the dailies, just however many I complete by playing what I like.

I don't do dockyard crap.

I don't grind for time limited campaigns or ships.

All the "FOMO" stuff? I embrace the fact that I won't get it - and I don't care.

Also, I never play anything lower than tier 9 if I can help it. Seal clubbers make my skin crawl worse than triple CV games.

To keep more veterans at Tier V+.

Veterans meeting new players can be solved by MM (we now have a new player protection of 200 battles, which could be extended even further).

T2 is a breath of fresh air. You will never encounter any CV, nor radar nor hydro if that bothers you.

If you do not bother with goals and achievements then there is nothing stopping you from enjoying the game at low tiers.

And the historian will find there some marvels like Emden, V-25 or Mikasa.

Play other things, when I feel I'm getting a bit fed up with WOWS; currently, Valheim is providing me with an entertaining diversion, or I can just mess about in WOT for a bit...

Been playing since September 2017

I used to play 10 games daily, nowadays I might play 10 - 15 games in a week and for sure not every day

I play tier 5 - 10 Lately I´d say I mostly play tier 9

I don´t  play tier 1-4 ever (noobs, seal clubbers and CV:s what else can u say about it)

I don´t play ranked (just too much frustration and to what gain ?)

Snowflakes is the only grind I bother with and mostly I play in coop to get all 150+ snowflake ships done fast

Dockyard ships that I want I literally buy  (If I can earn the cash for buying it in an 8 hour day at work why grind like mad for 150 hours)

Left the game, came back, might leave again. The grind is ridiculous and unworthy. It lost its soul, it is not fun. Maybe I played too much, got the ships I wanted, got ripped too much by WG my voice mute and now I just dont see the point in it. I agree with what you write here.

Hi Systergummi, welcom back!

I have been burnt out 3 years ago, didn't play for a year. Don't stick with low tiers, here's some advice which I hope may help you.

- Choose a handful of ships you like playing. Look back at some ships you may have forgotten, but really like playing.

- Play those ships at least half of your battles.

- Don't do more than 2 or 3 grinds at any point in time. Choose grinds you enjoy. Grind silver trees you enjoy and lead to a ship you really want.

- Buy 2 or 3 premiums you really like. Or collect the resources to buy them.

- If you have a loosing streak or feel frustrated playing, play 1 game with your favourite ship and then stop for the day.

I play 50% DD, no CV, very little BB and 30% cruisers. I like Lightning, Gadjah, Fiji and Chapayev. Play Daring in ranked. I enjoy those 80% of the time.

Find your mix and play that for at least half your games. The fun will come back!

Enjoy!

I mainly play IV-VIII

T4 has a good few fun ships and maps, also battles are mostly very frantic

T5-T7 is the sweetspot for me, most ships are viable and already start to feel specialized.

T8 is where the powercreep and bad balancing starts to shine until it becomes worst at T10

However I still often venture to T8 for the higher tech goodies, and also because thats the entrance level for many events/missions, just hope youre not bottom tier.

when i play T9 or 10 its just to complete it and then i rarely touch it tbh.

Seems like solid advice. I used to do something similar. My problem starts when I get sucked into grinding. Progression is so captivating... This time I would love not to get caught up in it and just enjoy the game, not the rewards. And yes it would be a shame not to play t5-9 DDs. Every tier has its charm (except t10).

The V-25 was my first love in this game. And I agree with the old gnome. I found my end game ship at t2 ;)

I stay at 6, I can both grind mission, relax a bit, or go release my frustration in scenario mode against pre programmed bots .
enjoyable at all ways

Dude you get nearly 100% carrier battles and you are just hapless fodder for them.

You can also not learn anything in carrier hell because tactics don't work anyway.

What you do is skip to Tier IX as soon as possible where you only get around 30% of that BS.

First thing is never buy the "WG" dream.

Grinding this and grinding that just to get the new meta or next OP ship, because in the long run, they get changed. Stop chasing the rabbit that you will never catch.

I play this game purely for fun and the social aspect, clan life and banter. If it wasn't for that, I would have left ages ago when a lot of people, who used to be on this forum, did.

Won't touch anything lower than tier 5. It's seal clubbing and we all know what that was like. It's not fair and should be left to people getting into the game.

I don't have to have any ship now, got plenty over the years. I even have enough coal and steel for any ship but don't fancy any of them.  WG isn't getting a penny out me and its been that way for ages now, its completely liberating.

Div with friends and you will enjoy it a lot better.

I can maybe see the Thunderer being boring (though personally I like some "boring" ships, like the Azuma...), but the Smaland? that thing's a firecracker!

Actually I think doing many grinds at once is better, as you feel less "forced" to finish one just because of a sunk cost fallacy.

Also, I simply didn't know how good most ships were, and I basically found out as I moved up (or...down?) the tech tree: the Fuso was great, the Nagato crap, the Izumo unexpectedly fine, considering the press she had.

Also, someone in chat told me great things about the NC, but I ended up having far many more memorable games in the Colorado.

I remembered Jingles talking about the Soviet DD split in some videos I'd seen before starting playing, but all the names confused me, just like for the IJN ones (Akatsuki-Akizuki: took me a while to figure that one out): I just played them and I adored the Udaloi, for instance. I had no idea before.

I would also recommend to identify some "comfort ships" (as in "comfort food"), that you enjoy (tech tree) or probably would (premiums), and play them more when you want something familiar and reliable.

For me, the list used to be Wyoming-Charleston-Sampson-Izyaslav, then Fuso-Dunkerque-Nelson-Blyskawica-Hosho-New Orleans, then maybe JB-Worcester-Georgia-Baltimore-Asashio-Ibuki-Alaska-Shikishima-Leander.

Most lines have at least one "jewel", a ship that's really good at her tier and just "clicks" with you.

Its just that even before this break. T10 was the least enjoyable tier. I used to play a lot of t8, the t9s are nice too, but t10 just feels stale. Also t8 gave me better rewards as nearly every game was 2000+ xp. Ive even had multiple 2000+ losses.

Apart from CWs I cant see myself playing Småland and its not because its a bad ship.

I normally don't play below tier 5. I basically don't have many ships at those tiers. But basically I pick a ship I want to play and try different tactics etc.

There's a simple way to not burn out:

1. Don't force yourself to play. If you are losing game after game, cursing at the teammates or your own mistakes, simply stop. No good will come from forcing yourself to play.

2. Set your own goals. I started ignoring WG events about a year ago and I am setting my own goals. A tech tree ship to get, an achievement, improving torpedo predictions etc ...

3. Do NOT chase the meta.
