So is this the future of not detonating?

On live stream, I just asked @MrConway how we will be awarded the anti detonation flags after encountered that fun and engaging mechanic.

 

With the new achievement system, how will detonations work. We used to get the 10 flags straight away. Do we now have to complete a mission and risk detonation again to get the reward?

 

His answer ...

 

Simply go to the armoury and buy detonation flags for coal, and you will never have to detonate again.

 

So basically you want me to pay to avoid the fun and engaging mechanic that everyone hates. I can see the benefit of buying the flags for competitive modes, but for casual fun I don't like the idea of another 'micro transaction'. Just getting the 10 flags was enough to guarantee 10 det free battles and was ok. 

 

What do you all think?

well it creates a coal and credit sink and some top players have literally billions of creds laying around

and probably some will be in supercrates or flag crates

Play CVs, they don't detonate. :Smile-_tongue:

Other than that, just don't give a damn about detonations. If it happens it happens. The only reason to rock a deto flag is when you play Ranked or something like this.

I have played 9'652 Random battles and i have 118 Detonation achievements, that's 1,22% … uuh, big problem :Smile_ohmy:

 

As for yourself. According to your public profile on the WoWs website you have played 1484 Random battles and you have 2 Detonation achievements, that's 0,13% of your games where you detonate. That's a massive problem, i guess.

 

There are a ton of problems in this game. No more deto flags is probably waaaaay down at the bottom of the concern list for most players.

WG showing it's true colors again. One does not get rewarded for achievements anymore. One needs to pay to get the rewards...

The anti-detonation flags that have been in the Armoury for years and drop regularly from containers.....not sure why this is a big issue.

Particularly when detonating isn't exactly an achievement.

The problem is, that its again biased against classes. Not only do CVs not detonate at all (still waiting for the reason why, WG..) but the 2nd master race has a very low chance aswell. And ofc, who detonates the easiest? DDs!

Hm, lets call it "classism" and poke some lefties? Maybe I can get the cancel-culture on board, so they will start a worldwide shitstorm against WG, because of "classism" against DDs & CV-supremcy? No company can widthstand their anger :cap_win:

Well, if his answer was like that "buy detonation flags for coal" they might be removing the option to buy them for credits?
If thats the case i might go and buy 500 or more detonation flags for credits just in case they remove the credit option

Because they do not carry ammo and highly flammable aviation fuel for their planes.

Still it is way too much rng depended design for a multiplayer [competitive maybe?] pvp game.

It's less about the detonation flags, it's that WG is cutting down the signal income continuously since a while now. Look for example at Ranked, how much signals we got from this. One season was enough to cover half a year of gaming. Same with SCs. They used to drop 250 signal in the beginning, but this was cut down a couple of times a s well. They want that we buy signals for credits in the armory, because too many players have way too many credits hoarded. I personally do only care about speed flags and heal flags, all other are gimmicks and nice to have, but not vital. Eco flags on the other hand are very important to me. I don't spend credits on anything beside sped/heal flags, because they are way too expensive for someone who plays a lot. A stack of 20 signal, no matter what type, should cost 1M and that's it. To equip a ship fully you need 5-6 signals at least, for 20 games (signal stack size) this is 12M or more. If you don't rock eco flags like crazy and have a Missouri (which i don't have), 12M+ in 20 games is doable but hard to achieve.

 

I don't know how the new system works, how many signals we get and what the missions are, so i can not say if it's good or bad. But whatever it is, it will be much worse than it used to be 1-2 years ago. For me it's simple, if i don't get enough signal through playing i play without and become a potato like the rest, Not gonna bend myself backwards over a barrel for some stupid flags, especially not deto flags.

I know, its true, I noticed it a while ago. For a long time, my signals just keep piling up, Ive reached numbers of 1000~1600 of some of them. Little by little, it slowed down. Then it started to drop.

Thats pretty much how I do it aswell and I agree with the conclusion.

How many were in DDs, by far the easiest class to detonate?

 

I have 195 detonation "achievements" out of roughly 100 times as many games. But only about 25% of my games are in DDs, so the chance is more like 4%.

Sure, sometimes I've detonated with other ships, but increasingly I've been playing DDs with a detonation flag (always in Ranked, most of the times in Randoms if in a division, or if I'm solo but I'm using a good camo and special flags), so I guess the two things sort of cancel each other out.

 

Detonations are basically a tax on playing DDs, which makes no sense, as DD gameplay is already the most stressful one.

I think you are optimistic for thinking you will get a satisfying answer from MrCorporateSpeak.

 

Regarding the flags, of course I am with you: don't change the rewards for achievement system.
