PT 0.10.4, BALANCE CHANGES - another Thunderer/Stalingrad nerf, and more

Oookay. A max firing range of 21,5 is actually very shitty for a T10 battleship, and might even start to affect how the ship is played (Thunderer), particularly as it doesn't have a spotter plane. Not a fan of the death by a thousand cuts approach to balancing... Like they literally last nerfed Thunderer and Stalingrad a few weeks ago.

 

A lot of nerfs to other ships I play, including Leander, Fiji, and Jutland. Can't quite follow the logic for some of them, like did Jutland urgently need a torpedo reload nerf?

I'm not sure what the point is though, like what do they want the Thunderer to be? It was previously a sniper. Do they want to push it into mid/close range? It doesn't really have the armor model for it. It's certainly not a weak ship, I'm just kind of puzzled why they are nerfing the range rather than the things that actually make it broken.

Problem is, that those nerfs dont do anything. Is Thunderer OP because it has 24km range? Ofc not, its the Thermonuclear HE which makes it broken.

Same for Stalin. Might aswell remore radar and give it hydro instead, much better...

Now wouldnt that be nice? 

Maybe instead of nerfing its range, rather nerf its HE effectiveness so that pepegas who shoot nothing but HE cant rack up insane amounts of damage............................

Or is it just the Kremlin solution, i.e. you throw a dog to the bone to silence its yapping (nerf irrelevant stuff to avoid having to make hard decisions and upset people).

20km should be plenty of range if you consider it has better concealment than most cruisers.

If they really listened to player feedback, as they stated in the devblog, maybe people complained "im getting farmed by Thunderers from 23km" So WG be like "lets nerf range!" :cap_yes:

The other option is that they just slap some placebo nerfs on Thunderer and Stalin, because too many people complain and now they might finally stfu... i mean, might aswell just slot rangemod if the range is not good enough. :cap_haloween:

Very nice, more balance is always welcome.

 

Buffs to lines I currently grind: Italian BB, Asian DD looks nice. And Flint is looking more and more appealing, but that price in coal... 

 

Who said WG dont listen? They nerfed the ships that community thought were OP and buffed Flint and Italian BB. GJ WG

 I'm a bit sore about the nerfs to the British CL line and to the Jutland tbh, it smells of balancing-by-spreadsheet.

 

IMO the Jutland and the CL line win games because the role they play is influential (i.e. you play around caps, killing enemy DDs), not because the ships are super strong per se. Maybe we need to recruit more potatoes into these lines to "correct" the anomaly in the spreadsheet, Smolensk style.

Yeah, I don't get it :/. Nerfing their firepower in particular is BS, that's the only thing those ships have. They are glass cannons, so nerfing the firepower (and in fact also survivability, due to smoke duration nerf) is something I don't understand.

FDR is new ship, Stalin has 15x more games and Thunderer has 30x more games. They clearly consider it, because if they would go only after the stats, then Bourgogne is absolute best T10 ship by far, yet has only 1/10 of games played compared to Thunderer, despite it being much older ship

Don't think the nerf will effect any good Thunderer player much. They just reverse a couple of kms closer and still do the same damage with probably even more shells hitting and can still disengage at any time. Only nerf that could effect that ship is accuracy or fire chance.

 

Woooh, 800 meters for Flint? What are Flints gonna do with all that range .........
