Downtime.

Hi Comrades,

I just wondered why the downtime is not 0300 to 0600 instead of 0600 to 0900 when I have time to play before work.  It annoys me every time it happens and I am at a loss to understand why you wouldn't do this earlier when there are less people wanting to play. Surely it only requires one member of staff to 'throw the switch'? Or is it a whole team effort?

 

 

My imagination working overtime, I'm sure it's one person and the cleaner at 0600.

If there is something going wrong with the update you need a full staff to cope with the problem immediately!

Well, as the op is registered less than 2 months ago, someone should tell hit that it's like this since 5+ years and i doubt that WG gives a flying f...art about if he has to work at that time or not.

Why? For giving you facts? Or that you have a totally ridiculous request for personal reasons? How about you ask your boss to change your work hours so that you can play a few games in the morning? I'm sure he will happily grant you your wish. Or how about you get up a few hours early, then you can play a couple of games and then go to work?!

But you rather have the whole system to change, that you can play a frickin video game before work, for the ONE day per month this happens, right?!

Mind your manners and I wouldn't do but as my old drill instructor said 'There's plenty of kn*bheads about' and in this day and age they are getting more plentiful day by day.  I came on here to ask why someone would think doing something at a particular time was a good idea.  Didn't realise that the forum is populated by people who think they are above others.  Is it because I am a player with a few games?  Check my stats and I think you'll find I'm a sodding reroll.  Can't check you or the other gobby g*ts stats as you are obviously embarrassed by them.

Those people gave you a very valid reason why they won't change those hours: If something goes wrong, WG has the manpower at work to at least do something about the problem and resolve it. Wouldn't be the case if the downtime was 0030 - 0600. And talk about stats once you are done fighting bots in low tiers :) Your rapid decline in mid tiers tells a lot

assuming server developers are also from russia, its early for them also start update at 6am. another thing is i think noone want really work at 3am in night.

Bit like your solo stats then matey, only reason why your stats are reasonably good is because you fight in divs all the time.  Your solo WR is well lets just say not very good.  Still you can trash me for mine eh?  What utter drivel.

Wow that got aggressive really fast. To try and answer the original question in as basic terms as possible :

 

1. As mentioned before its best to have a team available during server work such as this. Should there be a problem you then have multiple people working to fix it as fast as possible.

2. In a critical environment for example financial network security I would expect people to be on call 24/7 and be prepared to do system upgrades at the sorts of hours you suggest. However a free computer game isnt really in this category which may explain the timings which are slightly friendlier to their workforce.

3. If my boss told my I had to do a work shift that started at 3am once a month I know what my answer would be so I think its a bit unfair to expect WGs staff to have to do it.

 

Its only once a month, surely you can miss playing a computer game before work once a month?
