Dear WG, the Vigilance skill is meant for DDs and CLs, not BBs

Just a FYI, in the next skill patch/rework, be sure to place the torpedo lookout skill on the ships that are actually meant to spot ahead the torpedoes and have the maneuverability to react to them.

Please don't overlook this minor detail amongst the pile of needed changes. Our dear glorious NOCAP leader needs it!

The WG logic here is, nobody spec into Vigilance anyway. So it doesn't matter in which tree they put it, when nobody uses it. I'm pretty sure that's what the spreadsheet says.

I used the skill on my Tirpitz in brawl and never thought to put it on my DDs...

So what you want to favour is a DD that is constantly moving in front of you to protect you? Interesting...

Can be useful in CBs when screening ahead of a push and/or trying to zone out the enemy DD from an area.
Might have considered the skill myself if it wasn't for the fact that I run RN DDs (Jutland this time around) as my first pick.
For 2 points it could be a rather interesting option to spec into for certain other DDs. :-)

That is indeed how DDs are meant to be played, unlike what the hordes of 20km shimas's would like to make you believe.

Don't forget wide spread on top of that. :cap_fainting:

That is true. But it is a question of trade off. I rather use, say, RPF to ping the DD position on the mini map instead of specking two additional points in this information. This might bee too much. In addition I cannot always take care of the BBs on top of the other tasks that I habe to fulfil. Hence this is perk that is too situational.

I never understood this either.
Vigilance on a battleship : You know you're going to die 2 seconds earlier, uh, ok?

Vigilance on a destroyer : Could actually be useful because you're spotting 25% more torpedoes for the big ships behind you.

I used to use it on Italian Cruiser because they can't mount Hydro...

And I also used to have it on the Hindenburg...

Never used it on a BB though...

Maybe little BB is able to take care of itself? :Smile_veryhappy:

-Your perspective is I want to make big boi damage number appear on my screen in random battles, I don't care about the battleships behind me eating torpedoes (or winning)

-His perspective is we're trying to win hurricane league, the more torps I spot the less torps my teammates eat (which should be the mindset in random battles too but obviously is not)
It's actually sad to read this, people are so used to random battles being a stupid every-man-for-himself FARM FARM FARM game mode that they don't even know spotting torpedoes is something a DD does. No wonder the level of play is depressing in randoms

Oh, I use it on my Bismarck with hydro mod and a von Jütland commander. Works fine.

It is actually sad to read what kind of big balls hurricane league players want to have. If you make something happen in the elite clan leagues - everybody wants to have that candy. So - image what happens when you allow vigilance on DDs.

Tbh Elbing and Felix would love to have that skill as they don't have Hydro anymore and also have worst turning as possible for DD. Basically BB turning we are talking here.

So what would happen? Sorry, my imagination is failing me right now, care to explain?

You ... you want me to imagine what life was like from july 2015 until last month? Why would I need to ... uh

You laugh but your simple mind simply cannot contemplate what it would mean if destroyers could wield the power of vigilance a brand new battleship-only skill that totally wasn't available to destroyers from early access until last month.

And now you have to adjust you gameplay, or is that impossible with your 2015 mindset?

We can't, there is no time to adjust, we are still trying to imagine a world in which destroyers could take the brand new super overpowered battleship-only vigilance skill. As you said, it's overwhelming, unspeakable things would happen if destroyers could wield the power of vigilance (which they totally couldn't until 5 weeks ago true story) I'm done laughing at you now.

WG please add vigilance in the one skilltree where it could actually be useful, plenty of useless 1pt and 2pt skills to swap out, you'd be fixing two problems with one small change.

Or how about start playing brit DDs, if you actually want to cosplay fleet screening actions? They have long duration hydro hammer crafted by WG just for that purpose.

Bonus points for having one of the best destroyers in game from tier 8 onwards.

I literally never even thought of choosing that skill in any ship. Use that rudder, it's all the vigilance you need to avoid torps.
