Pommern or Marco Polo?

Hi, i have enough coal for Pommern. Should i get Pommern or wait for Marco Polo?

Pommern is better in Coop (since you are a Coop player).

Marco Polo has nothing bringing to the table for coop

- Worse reload than pommern while having less guns

- SAP is not necessay, you want to citadel Bots to get more damage faster, so AP is the ammo of choice

 

Pommern has

- Hydro good for pushing to spot the torps coming your way

- Torps to kill enemy ships when you get close

- Doesnt get citadelled (basicly), i assume Marco Polo can get citadelled if its broadside, and bots WILL hit your citadel if its possible

- Better secondaries

 

Marco Polo might be better in randoms, but even in other gamemodes (Brawls/ranked), Pommern is better... thats if you ever wanna try those.

Should be noted however that there is most definetly one thing the Marco Polo can do that the Pommern can not: Train Italian skippers for you.

Have we seen anything regarding the Marco Polo? Seems like many is looking forward to it but I don't know what the gimmick is? Escorting submarines? AP bombing squadrons? 20 km torps? Mines?

To me it looks rather boring tbh...

Biggest SAP in the game, but everything else seems to be on the meh side. Low HP, bad reload, doesnt have the smoke from other ita BBs... i guess it has better dispersion than the others tho thanks to better sigma.

I guess if its able to consistently nuke everything with its SAP, then it has something going for it, but apart from that, i dont see anything which would make it worthwhile.

Marco Polo is the new shite. It's more addictive than crack. Only a few of the supertesters dared to touch her, but they are on infusion since, as they can't stop playing the game. Even WG's balancing department does not dare to nerf her, as they are so addicted that they would not stand the withdrawal symptoms. Hope I managed to clarify what to expect. Hype Hype Hype

I played the Italians and the SPA has a big disadvantage:

- broadside BBs, if you have not enough pen, you get NOTHING;

- DDs, you only get 10% damage with SAP. Even the AP is better.

Definetely gets better on the hightiers against all-or-nothing armor schemes. Its the same with midtier italian CAs, who deal much less damage than on hightiers, because suddenly they get pens everywhere.

Only up to T6. The T7 has 500 more SAP damage than AP, so you can just shoot SAP at DDs. But the difference is so small it doesnt matter either way. Certainly NOT swapping ammos to shoot a DD is the right way to go, just shoot whatever you have loaded.

I have Pommern and it certainly doesn't disappoint. We use it in current T9 CB as well. 

I never play co-op though... but it is tanky, and the accuracy is not that bad (if you dare go closer...).

Dispersion is less bad than I expected. You CAN go closer as it is tanky.

And if they try to yolo you, you have some LOL-torpedoes. I call it the T9 Derpitz.

I hope so. The main problem I had with mid-tier CAs is not the damage, it is the BLAP. 

They are absolutely weak... like some damn AP-magnets. The only decent one is Tranto (which is a keeper).

Venezia makes it "worth it", in the end.

Well, the T4/5 were quite good/OK... the T6 is just abysmal, certainly when you get uptiered.

I haven't been paying much attention to Marco Polo, as she strikes me as just another BB (only with SAP); I can strongly recommend Pommern for Coop though, especially with a semi-manly (at least) build - she's glorious at closer ranges...
