Game is nice

i have an esthetical problem tough

those low tier russian battleships are not really sea ships, they more like river ships, with 1 meter of height above the water line. they were called Monitors , after that american ship to fight in rivers that did 1 sea trip and end badly.

why is that?

You do not know how small a meter is.

Vor 1 Stunde, EnacheV sagte:

This is pretty much true for all Russian battleships in this game, except for Gangut/Oktober... :Smile_trollface:

It's a bit like doodling Lamborghinis with guns into your school notebooks to distract you from thinking about your actual car industry too much, which is busy manufacturing too few Ladas.

I heard on Flamu's stream that a naval architect had done a few calculations and came to the conclusion that Kremlin as it is in the game would basically keel over and sink immediately all of its own, without any enemy action required.

And he didn't even take into account the weight of those Stalinium reactors powering the turret traverse.

how the real pictures look like is irrelevant

what matters is how they look when you zoom in on them in game

you just seea thin line and some turrets, like they are amphibious tanks

A short belt above the water was never a good thing. but since this game is a game and flooding from shell penetration was never a thing, it only serves as a tiny hitbox that u cant hit easily to get max damage

.ships like pre dread- WW1 dreads and post WW1 ships all suffered the same problem, shell fly past them and hits the deck, rendering their role to intercept and eat shells useless. that's why pre-ww2/WW2 BBs tend to have a higher belt above and below water, for example KGV has a 7m belt from top to bottom, at least half of it sits above water.

Scharnhorst is the worst among all, posting a less than 5 meter belt that most of it sinks below waterline, , it reduce the surface area presented of the belt to almost nothing at normal combat range, lets say 15000-10000m for Atlantic condition, at least 50-40% shot will hit the deck instead of the belt, rendering it almost useless, making the ship prone to penetration, leaks, unnecessary damage slamming the upperbelt etc.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria-class_ironclad

"This class was one of the last of this period to have very low freeboard, of around 10 feet (3 m). This was done to reduce target area in a naval engagement but had a deleterious effect upon seaworthiness, and was an important factor in Victoria sinking within fifteen minutes following a collision since it allowed the water to quickly reach the gun turret ports."

Dont buy his photoshopped, sovjet propaganda version! Everyone knows, Gangut really looks like this in game!

WG likes to build not sea-worthy ships to make them OP and then argue realism because a drunk Russian engineer dreamt it on a paper napkin which WG managed to get hold of.

Too bad the Gangut existed...

And Pyotr is based on a german design by Blohm and Voss, and I am pretty sure they knew what they were doing...

Debatable, given some of the other things to come out of that yard.
