Could we get the Option to make Private Notes in Ignored Users ?

Sorry for Posting this in the General Game Discussion.

But I am not sure where else to put this. As I didnt find a Forum Request or so Section.

 

But could we get an Option to make Notes on Ignored Users ?

Unfortunately there is alot of People in the Forum which should not be taken Seriously. And instead of bothering with them constantly. I tend to just use the Ignore Function.

 

The Problem is. After a few Weeks or Months (Depending on how much I tried to bother with the Person) I just Forget about it.

And then I have him on my Ignore List and got no Idea who it was or why he is on that.

 

But I cant very well make a Public Post or a Comment on their Profile Saying: "This is a Second Account only used for Forum Trolling which the Person apparently doesnt dare doing with his Main Account"

Because that would not be seen as a Personal Note I made for myself. But rather as an Unecessary Provocation.

So it would really help alot if we could make Small Private Notes only Visible to ourselves to Remember why exactly we put someone on Ignore.

 

 

I know its a Somewhat Strange Request.

But as Funny as it Sounds. After being here for a few Years. I more and more often Find that I simply cant Remember why I Ignored someone. And thus dont know if maybe I should give him another Chance or if its just a Troll Account anyways and I better keep him Ignored without bothering.

To make it perfect, it would help tremendously if users blocked on forum, ended up marked in the game as well.

I have only one user on my ignore list, so it´s easy to remember why.

And to make it even more easy: if i would ever forget why, i would only have to click "show this post" once on any of his comments to remember why :)

I get the concept, but... For something like that they would have to change several aspects of the forum's backend. Not to mention allocating storage per user.

This in an interesting suggestion and I think it would help work for some people, including us, CMs.

But there is a but.

How many people you think would actually use it "normally", just to distinguish them from each other? Don't you think, that vast majority of those, who would actually use it, would use it to mock and insult others, without the player knowing about that. This would just boost certain toxicity.

So unfortunately this is very unlikely to happen. If you would like to tag certain forum users for yourself, you should do that in your own space, in your PC.

Actually how many different people you usually discuss with on forum per week? It is not that much and after some time you simply remember nicknames of those you interact the most with.

From my Experience most People wont be so Insulting if they know Nobody sees it.

And if its part of the Ignored Users Screen it also cant be used to fake Profile Notes as the 2 Screens are suffivirntly different.

But I see your Point.

 

Thing is. Its a Hassle to write all the Nicknames out on a List with Notes and then search the Name matching it.

Its also useless fast if the user Changes his Name.

 

And Yes. I remember those I care about.

Thing is. I am not Interested in Remembering those I ignore.

Albeit I am Surprised You cant attach Notes to Players.

Admitted. Its been over 15 Years I worked with Forums. But we always had a small Notes Field for each user in the Adminsections of the Forum.

This was Generally used to keep track when Someone got a Unique Title or Profile Color etc.

So other Admins know why and when they Received it without Scrolling through the whole Profile History of Changes.

We also used it to mark Accounts which tended to show certain troublesome behavior.

But we didnt have a Punishment History with Points etc back then. So maybe thats just no longer a thing ^^

I've heard that having a long ignore/blocked list can cause performance issues.  So, I routinely clear down the list apart from several individuals....

 

WoWS seems to have enough performance issues at times so why add to them.

Let's start with something easy. User on your blacklist, who are on it for a reason, should never end up on the same team with you again - but they do, because blacklist users does jack, like so many other 'features' in the game.

The Blacklist just blocks communication from what I've heard.  So, if you don't want to hear from someone just blacklist them.

 

I would presume if putting a player on a blacklist resulted in you never being in a battle with them this would be exploited by players putting good players on their blacklist.

If i put someone on ignore ( 1 person currently ), i don need any note why he is there. Being on my list is enough for me that i know i dont want to bother with him anymore, even if months passed since.

workaround/solution:

write urself a mail via forummesenger, problem solved. u can add every single one account name u like with a note, while being able to add more in one conversation. so, all in one place

When I was new to the forums, I wondered "what happens if I click here..." and the post I was just reading disappeared. I had no idea what happened. Only about half a year ago I found my "blocked"- list and saw that one user is blocked; @El2aZeR but don´t tell him .

I unblocked him and all´s fine.

 

 

@YabbaCoe I have a question which kinda fits here:

Can I see who blocked me? Or at least how many have blocked me? Just curious how many people I peed off here.

Sorry, but this is not possible to see who blocked you. Also with the number. What kind of information it would give to you, if you would see something like: You've been blocked by 23 users... opportunity to celebrate, or cry?

I am Talking about the Forums.

Blacklist in the Game I usually only Ignore People for extreme Reasons.

So There I never review it.

Neither do I consider unblocking someone etc.

I don't understand, if blocking others is so important to you, and you want to go the extra mile by taking notes on their behavior, (wtf are we still on a game forum ?), just keep an excel list ?

this is quite toxic, maybe I should open my own list, your note would be "uses capital letters in every word mid sentence, annoying af"

thing is: long ago I had a dispute with a guy because he was claiming that his navy did the greatest things in WWII and that wows should make that navies ships stronger than others and glorify them etc. I stated that to my knowledge "his" navy did very little bc incompetent leadership + lack of fuel. After that he and some of his mates down-voted every single comment I made. They even went back months and down-voted old comments which had nothing to do with them.

 

And suddenly it stopped and they disappeared  So I wonder, did they retreat to their native forums or did they block me? It wouldn´t do me anything to know, it just came to my mind while reading this topic.
