Worth coming back in 2021?

Hello Captains,

 

As per title.

 

I got bored when the game started to stagnate after the CV rework... is it now worth coming back to at all?

 

Look forward to different opinions... cheers in advance!

If you enjoyed the game previously, I would say give it a try. But it's still WG, so there is annoying stuff.

A very vocal element will say no, and they may have some good reasons.

However, many, many players adjust to new ideas and techniques and still have a lot of fun, so I, being in that category, say yes.

Is it perfect, far from it, MM can be poor and it's hard to get agreement on how that can be fixed, the camping is problematic and some ships are really difficult to play whereas others are incredibly easy.. 

Some of the new commander skills have not helped with the current meta but it is fair to say that WG followed the increasing playstyle of many and didn't create the current propensity to sit back and long range fire in BBs, they pandered to it, when I personally feel they should have encourage close range fighting instead, but that's just an opinion.

Every now and again though you will be in that last minute of a battle, trailing by 20 points but knowing you might have one last shot at sinking an opponent, and when it happens it all feels worthwhile!!!

no i wouldnt say so , if your reason were for stagnation post cv, its only got worse much worse in that regard,

I would say yes.

 

WOWS has always had problems and now perhaps more than ever. I expect if you were to come back in a couple of months it might have settled down a little.

 

Anecdotally, even today I'm noticing fewer back line HE spamming battleships and more aggressive moves today.

 

As well as a Bizarre time in my Stalin with a Republique trying to use island cover to fight me, unsuccessfully I might add.

 

Give it at least another patch then come back and have a go.

You should at least login and check the commander skills that were auto-assigned, and reset them, today is the last day to do this for free !

That being said, I still say play a few (dozen) games, especially high tiers, I.e. TIX  and X.

 

Cause the crapfiesta that's going on there has to be seen with your own eyes, and it makes it so much enjoyable, laughing at people who defend WGs hairbrained idea of a healthy meta.

 

Play a few games and see for yourself.

I'll keep an eye on this thread, cause I am curious, what a veteran player, who was away for a time thinks about all crap.

You should have come back for the patch before as this patch WG ruined the game with another rework, this time they ruined the commander skills, and I doubt WG would make any changes. If enough players get turned off by it I bet they would just shut the game down rather than try to fix what they think was a brilliant idea but was something a cow could have drawn up in it's dung.

For the reset yes....

 

For everything else..... personally I’m on a break after the reset.

 

But most of 2021 is still ahead of us, maybe WG will do some good at some point.

FWIW I'm still playing quite a bit, and generally enjoying myself, *but* the quality of play usually seen has been getting worse, and this is a sub-par player saying that, so if you're a good player it'll probably drive you nuts (at least at times).

 

As mentioned earlier, it's worth logging in today though, if only to reset all your captains (or as many as you have time to do; the 'reset all' button expired a few days ago now); after the patch goes live, captain resets cost again.

 

If you are contemplating returning, it's perhaps worth waiting a bit to see what WG do to 'fix' the captain rework (there are one or two things that blatantly need tweaks, most notably the Deadeye skill), or at least using as few captains as possible - the tweaks will, of course, almost certainly not come with another free respec. On the up-side (apropos captains), you can now run all your premium ships from a given nation with a single captain (assuming you are happy with a 'good enough' build some of the time), so enabling more play options with just one captain.

I still like the game, but unfortunately less and less because nothing has improved.  I play more and more other games like "Conqueror Blade", because WG doesn't listen to the community and in "Random" there are hardly any rounds to find that are exciting. But I want to take the opportunity to play before the submarines come and then it will be over..

It's worse than it has ever been.  Both in players and gameplay.

 

However,  It's playable and I enjoy the laugh with the clan.   But would i play solo? NOT A CHANCE...

 

My best piece of advice is don't spend a single penny, not a single one.

The last patch was fairly interesting just because at least you could experiment with captain builds a lot and test ships in a lot of different builds. Now that respecs go back to their normal cost... eh.

 

I'm just resetting all my captains, demounting the more expensive upgrades and giving the game a long-to-permanent rest.

The game is currently going though a rather ‘interesting’ commander skills rework it’s not proving particularly popular thus far so things are a bit in flux currently but it’s WG when are they not doing something weird. 

 

Standard situation applies though with WG lots of lovely visuals and soon early access to Italian BBs but also always new loot boxes that people keep buying and then complaining about the terrible odds of. Also as mentioned the command skill rework hasn’t been exactly popular creating a rather irritating meta of long range battleship duels.
