How do i spend my steel?

Hi everyone, im near to reach enough steel for a ship.

- I dont have any steel ship yet.

- What i really like is shikishima. (I dont have Yamato)

- Stalingrad Is good for CB ( i arleady have petro that is similar )

- The new Austin looks good, but It will be released in March, and i want a ship now🤣.

( And i dont know how Much It will be good for CB ).

What do you think? Is shikishima worth 24K steel? Is It playable in CB?

Sommers, since it will be gone soon ( if you have collection habits you might want to secure the ship)

Bourgogne, the most fun steelship. A not nerfed Alsace with good accuracy, range and good pen for 15”.  And a reload booster to punish hard when you find a broadside enemy.

 

Stalingrad is a one trick ( but very good) pony which can be replaced in gamestyle with Petro. Current captain change is also quite harsh on supercruisers...

 

Shishima is not much better then Yamato ( but a moot point since you don’t have the ship) and the extra pen might become usefull with the current deadeye meta...although its extra secondary bonus is worth less..she also is the most expensive of the  steel BB/ cruisers.
 

Choice between 6 shots or 12 shot salvo with mobility and reload on Bourgogne side and ranged pen and overmatch on Shikis.

About Stalin being same as Petro...

 

Stalingrad is like Moskva (nose in stationary cork). Now it burns faster.

 

I play Petropavlovsk differently  - as an open water - mobile cruiser.

Shikishima is a worse Yamato with camo.

-> Bourgogne but "that thing" is different from rest of T10 BB.

Stalingrad is only good if You can play BIGcruiser with horible detection range. In crosfire broad sinks like a Moskva.

If not sure, maybe You can check those ships planned to remove (collector view).

Only use Steel if have a coupon to spend. If not, wait for next coupon ready (except a MUSTHAVE ship will leave store before coupon regen).

Yea , bourgogne looks good, but her armor/hp Is really bad actually.

Also shikishima has better AA and secondaries than Yamato.

Bourgogne is very strong.

I would hold off on the Stalingrad as it is now just a big slow flaming torch.

 

Shiki looks ago but in most case the Yamato is as good or better.

10.2 is the march patch, probably 18.3 would be my guess. That would be a 4 week 10.1 patch which is the usual interval.

We get CBs next patch (18.2) so you can get the steel from there.

Damn I have never played in CBs and our our clan is not active in that.

Completing every daily chains in a week nets 280 steel, with steel port 2 its 300. 3 weeks of getting every daily chains.

I could get Paulo Emilio and get 80 steel from a snowflake but I'm 800 FPs short of getting the Ohio.

 

We are still in 10.0 so might be more than 4 weeks until 10.2?

These days you can play for another clan because they allow 1 mercenary. Atleast i assume, since that was the case last time aswell, and recent Clanbrawls you could also play with people outside of the clan.

10.1 will hit on 18.2, thats the thursday in 2 weeks. After that it should be another 4 weeks till 10.2, so you have almost 6 weeks minimum.

Well.... there lies the problem. Brindisi is the only VIII - IX I'm  missing and my Amalfi only has 8k exp on it. I got the Trento, when Italian cruisers were introduced and played her mostly in ops and got the Zara. I played through Zara and unlocked Amalfi, haven't really played her after that and don't want to free-exp  her.

It was a tough call between FDR and Shikishima, but FDR just seemed so horribly broken that they would remove her, so I slammed by steel on her.... Oh how wrong I was.

Wrong as in you regret the purchase or that the FDR is not broken enough?

 

Best steel ship currently is arguably the Bourgogne for reasons listed above. Stalin did get hit by the rework but it is still a potent ship so that is also an option.

Wrong, as in it has not been removed post-haste from the game.

Now with all those back-line camping "dead brain" BBs it makes a little sense, but still.... its broken af.

I have not played any Random games with FDR as I dont have that many games in CVs. I've played them in operations but I need more experience on randoms before moving to higher tiers, cause CVs have so much influence on the game.

Well, what can I say, @Jvd2000 has already suggested not forgetting about the two ships that, IMO, have better potential: Somers (which I have and has been one of my workhorses during TX rankeds) and Bourgogne (although not in my possession, she seemed a pretty strong opponent whenever I exchanged shots with her).

 

Shikishima can and does bite hard but she's more about bark: you can hear her distinct clearing of throat from the next map. Regarding Austin, I've faced one with Minotaur and I must say right now she's a really tough nut to crack when almost bow-in for same calibre shells, but we'll see when actually released.

BBMM is stil hiring... (yes shameless plug). We're a potato clan but we are quite active in CB. 

Usually we manage Storm League (eventually...). Kinda doubting too what will be my next steel ship. 

And yes I got FDR as well but Manfred is much better. Certainly in CB... even if FDR is indeed broken AF.

It mainly depends on what you like to play. If you can also play it in randoms that is handy.

Steel (and coal) ships have perks that may make T10 less "credit consuming". 

And indeed they can be used in CB, so that is a factor too. 

 

However there will be a limited number of BBs, CV, and DD in CB so a cruiser is always handy. 

So I'd say get something that you LIKE to play and can use in randoms as well (grind credits, train captains...).

Shikishima loses out to many ships in CB. I'd not buy that. But ask your clan if you could run it. Maybe they will.

 

Hell yeah, we even run a Conqueror - because it makes sense with the stupid heal & stealth, and we win often enough because of that.

And when I am not in a Conqueror they want me in a CV. Because I'm pretty decent with those and kinda mediocre with a cruiser and a disaster with a DD.

So, it depends mostly what yoyur clan will want YOU to run in Clan Battles, too. 

 

Petro is just more wanted in CB right now than a Stalingrad. If you have Petro, nobody will want you to play Stalin.

Hell I'd even think nobody would want you to run anything else. Unless you are a CV or BB or DD specialist.

Petro, Puerto Rico, Venezia, Des Moines - those are the most wanted. If you see something else, be warned, they must be REALLY good.

 

So, the most important thing would be... what would YOU like. 

Or, what would you LIKELY BE RUNNING in CB.
