In the new framework "

Engine damage

When a ship's engine is critically damaged, it now continues to function at 20% efficiency instead of stopping entirely."

So why we need last stand now?

No you always take Last Stand

Cause 20% is like if your dd has 40knots speed you can go max 8knots speed now with the new improvement , which means you are still almost sitting duck

Who said you needed it?

It is your choice to risk ending up with a blocked rudder and moving at 20% engine power.

Does it matter? Read again what @ColonelPete wrote. 

It really succs hard to try Torpedo beats with a locked rudder. And DDs are kinda prone to do the beats.

He didnt add anything of value, just rewording what @Nauseica said to take his usual negative dump on the TS.

If you get immobilized, you will die instantly.and get no torp or any other beats are even a possibility after that for the rest of that battle.:cap_old:

PS. All DD's take damage to rudder and engines VERY easily due to poor / no armor. :Smile_amazed:

No it's still absolutely neccessary, as this doesn't help one bit with a damaged rudder in case you hadn't noticed.

LS is not enough on DDs.

You also need a MIRACLE !!

 

Just took out my Oland for the first time (just bought it). Double T6 CV game.

 

8 minute match, harassed the entire time (absolutely no help from our CVs), hit 1 torp and ended up third with 300 base xp.

Both our CVs bottom with 100-200 bxp. Fun and engaging.

 

Don't know who enjoys playing DDs this days .... and this is coming from former DD main!

 

From now on I play only BBs with dead eye (as intended).

It still possible to play DD just fine (had a couple of games just yesterday). Though conditions apply...:

1) Only 1CV per team.

2) Minimum of Semi-competent own team CV player.

3) Preferably 1 or 2 own team Cruisers willing to play close to the front line to provide an AA umbrella in dire need.

4) Yeah, luck is still preferable, but then it always was.

 

Also admitted that low to mid tier smokeless DD's do suffer more than most due to no possibility of escape when being focused on. But other than that I have enjoyed myself (well, mostly) lately when playing DD.:Smile_smile:

Every IJN cruiser you mean surely, as they're all heavy cruisers from tier 5 up.

I have fewer issues with the heavies so far. Engine room protection appears to suffice if you don't do light cruiser stuff in open waters and too close to enemies.

It's only one point now, though, and lets be honest none of the other choices are that good, except maybe the 50% time to change shell types one..

I haven't looked at the new cruiser skills so far; I am still looking for all those diverse builds for BB (LOL). After all, promoting diversity was the reason for the rework - according to WG.

I think (hope) cruisers get a different version of LS to DD, the cruiser version is 1 point, the DD version 2 points.

 

If not then this is the most god awful nerf to DD imaginable.
