So, these "snowflakes" are available only once? (I thought they'll come every day during the event). Yesterday I had them, and took them all... but today they're gone. Good thing I got the camo for Gadjah Mada... bad thing I don't have enough ships to get another one...

I only have 7 snowflakes left, so I think I'll get 7 crates to try to eventually complete the puzzle.

Only once. Some people have 300+ ships. It takes a while to play them all.

When you want more rewards, try to get more ships. This works till the event ends.

Well, I only play since April this year. I have 22 ships tier 5-8. That's it for now. We'll see what happens till Christmas. :)

You still have a few weeks left until the event ends.

I introduce you my IOWA (ex-Colorado) captain. He got his 14th point and now he has 4 pts available.

Should I invest them in Concealment or I'd be better with something else or a combination of others?!? Like PT+IFHE ... or PT+ERS+CS ... ?!? :Smile_sad:

This is his current config:

Any advice? Thx.

I would have probably advised concealment as the first 4pt skill, but you have FP now so I would suggest you take that next.

A typical build for Iowa, and later Monty, would then involve taking Basics of Survivability (3 points) and taking Emergency Repair Expert (4 points) when you eventually reach 21 points.

If you wanted to take PT I would replace Grease the Gears with it.

IFHE is simply not useful for Iowa, this skill primarily serves to improves the HE penetration of some secondaries on BBs that can utilise secondaries (like German BBs).

ERS is not a very impactful skill but is useful and a viable alternative to Gun Feeder. But, you already have your 1 point skill and won't have room for more (unless you want to spend them while you save those last 4 points up and respec later).

CS is just not worth using for the Monty line of BBs, it only lowers the cooldown of catapult aircraft (fighter or spotter) by 10%. The point is better spent elsewhere and saved rather than needing to be paid to be reset at a later date.

@Astolfo_Is_My_Waifu has covered off the specifics, but on top of that: as a general point, it's worth bearing in mind that - at least some of the time - the 'recommended' skills can often be sub-optimal.

My suspicion is that the the 'recommended skill' flags are at least partly assigned to give the impression that there are more viable captain builds than there are in practice. If you're in doubt, it's usually better to listen to expert players (such as the previous poster) than to follow WG's advice.

IMO, of course.

I wouldn't take Gun Feeder on a BB unless I've got access to a unique captain (e.g. Halsey, whom I keep on *my* Iowa...) that gets -75% time instead of -50%.

The reason is that 50% of 26-30 seconds (depending on the effect of Adrenaline Rush) is often too long to switch to AP and punish a broadside with citadel hits, or to switch to HE and deal better damage to a DD.

An exception to this rule might be the République, which generally goes for reload in slot #6, so she has a 21 seconds base reload: waiting 9-10 for the switch is more acceptable. On the other hand, the Iowa should run the accuracy module in slot #6, so that's a 30s base reload.

Imho the better alternative is Preventative Maintenance (top right), which reduces the number of times you're going to lose a turret (mostly when a BB shoots AP into them) or engine/steering (mostly when you take a torpedo in the stern).

With stronger main turrets, you might opt for Auxiliary Armament Mod 1 in slot #1, making your AA guns (and your secondaries, for what they're worth on the Iowa...) more resistant, which is helpful if a carrier has it in for you.

-30k difference. What happens if I lose-lose-lose... and run out of credit?

When you cannot pay the service cost, the ship is blocked to go into battle.

You have to earn money with other ships then.

In the worst case scenario, you have to take out a Tier I ship (they are free) to get credits.

Thank you!

And, if we speak about the service cost, I have another one: if you heal your ship before the battle ends, will the cost of the service be smaller than if you wouldn't? Or it doesn't matter?

My logic says YES, but actually I never had the patience to look closely.

It does not matter. It is a service cost, not a repair cost.

Is there a way to access a battle report, the one usually found here:

image.png.116d3e6601ce260496aa750ac4105691.png

Or, because I closed the game, now it is lost forever?

I have the replay, but it doesn't show the final battle record screen.

As soon as you close the game, the data is lost.

I suggest to make screenshots of battle results you like (one for every of the 4 result screens).

I've read in many places that Mainz does not need IFHE because - somehow - she already has them built-in!  I wonder what happens if I still put IFHE on it?

They'll probably have no effect, otherwise I'd found recommendations about this all over the place. But I'd still like a ...confirmation :))

And another one... help me decide, pls...

image.thumb.png.b47026aed36b24dc0628e50d6316e97e.png

What should I take next for my Baltimore's captain?

1. SI (as everyone recommends as the 5th skill)

2. Heavy AP (as everyone recommends, but as the final skill to take. I won't hide, I'm inclined for this one)...

or

3. better wait a little more and take TGG?

As I only need 35K XP more until I'll unlock Buffalo (that's like 3-4 days, no more), maybe the answer should also take Buffalo and DM into account...

Thanks.

IFHE further increases Mainz HE pen.

Most HE penetrates armor equal to 1/6th of its calibre. For example, a CA 203mm HE shell penetrates 34mm of armor (203/6=33.8 rounded up to 34).

This penetration modifier increases to 1/5th for 150-155mm guns on tier 8+ ships.

So, 152mm guns penetrate 152/6=30.4 or 30mm of armor at tier 8.

Some HE is further enhanced to penetrate equal to 1/4th of its calibre.

So, 150mm guns with improved HE penetration such as on Mainz penetrate 38mm of armor (150/4=37.5 rounded up to 38mm).

IFHE increases this value by 25%, so on Mainz it would increase from 38 to 47mmm, while losing half of its fire chance.

This is all very interesting, but whether IFHE is worth taking depends mostly on two things:

1. What notable armor thresholds you can overcome with your new penetration.

2. How much fire chance you lose in exchange.

Here is a graphic regarding armor thresholds:

image.thumb.png.2a1862a923e06aeb1bef25d463ae436a.png

As you can see, improving penetration from 38mm to 47mm does not grant Mainz the ability to penetrate anything new in terms of "common" armor thresholds. There are ships with exceptions to these rules (like certain CAs with 40mm+ deck plating and so on) but Mainz already has the ability to penetrate most common armor thresholds thanks to her improved base penetration, so taking IFHE on Mainz would boil down to gaining the ability to penetrate some plating on some cruisers.

In exchange, her moderate 8% fire chance is halved against all targets and she spends 4 points that she could have used for other skills. This does not really seem like a worthwhile exchange.

For more specifics on HE penetration I recommend the Wiki Article on Armor Penetration.

Personally, I would probably take gun feeder, the 1 point skill, because the US CA line has such powerful AP and being able to swap quickly can help you to not miss opportunities to use the AP when it would work.

Then I would take superintendant for the extra heal you'll get with Buffalo and DM.

Get TGG after that and then your final three points could be Heavy AP or Survivability Expert or Consumable Enhancements + Incoming Fire Alert, the last three are more flexible.

You can notice the increased penetration of German HE in mid tiers - I found it funny that a Nurnburg's HE can citadel a angled, almost bow in, Kotovsky.

Merry Christmas!

Time for another noob question.

I'd like to complete this mission:

image.thumb.png.8d7a8c8aaa499c723f572b95ff6c557c.png

Those 10139 are from 1 game. In this rhythm I'll complete it in like 80 battles (ok, maybe less, because I'll probably improve my skills in the process)... Still, too much pain for me (and for my team), as I'm a total noob in CV field.

I'm wondering, wouldn't be quicker to farm it in Coop? :cap_hmm:

Doubtful.

The CoOp bots rush forward and are spotted by everyone rather quickly.

Try to spot more in Random. 40 to 80k should be realistic for you.

Is there a way to quantify the worth value of FreeXP in credits? (I couldn't find).

I'd like to know what is worth more from changing my star tokens: buying "Christmas and New year in the navy" containers or just changing them for credits.

(I'm not interested in the captains and from the containers is only the Fxp that piques my interest).

As the event ends this evening, I still have 290 star tokens to spend, which is 2,6kk credits or - if I take containers - probably around 3150 FXP

PS. For many of you, sitting on mountains of credits, this would probably be an easy answer. Not my case thou.

Well both currencies can be obtained via doubloons, though not in a very economical manner.

1 doubloon:1500 credits

1 doubloon:25 free exp

This gives us a credit:fxp ratio of 60:1

Or, from another perspective.

2,600,000 credits would cost 1733 dubs.

3,150 free exp would cost 126 dubs.

In terms of pure doubloon value, you would get more from the credits, but the exaction doubloon ratios are quite inflated and don't indicate good value. Buying credits for dubs is one of the most economically inefficient things you can do, so naturally it would appear as a great doubloon value.

However, 290 tokens is enough for 19 containers.

If 20% of those contain 750 fxp and 33% of them contain 500 exp that works out as closer to ((19*0.2=~4)*750)+((19*0.33=~6)*500) = 6000 fxp.

Plus you'll also get 19 collection items towards the collection, and camos/signals.

Completing the collection gives premium time and a big gift, but if you complete the collection any further collection duplicates are only worth 15k credits each.

The containers also give your clan a small amount of oil.

If you need credits, exchanging the tokens for credits seems like a better deal than buying containers.

The containers do offer a decent amount of general economic bonuses unless you are already swimming in signals and camos but might be worth it if you can complete the collection for the free days of premium and the gift containers. But if the collection is already complete they lose a lot of value.

If the collection rewards and economic consumables are not not inviting enough, the token:credit ratio is quite good.

So i played my first ranked battle - was happy we won.

I end the match and see i got reported twice.

Should i be worried? Despite knowing i did nothing wrong.

Cause i will avoid ranked if i just get random reported.

(I primarily used the quickchat commands to confirm/say well done on capping/killing enemies to my team)

I have anxiety and it got automatically triggerred, it sounds silly but yeah xD.
