Hello, do you think there is a chance that ships like the Odin or Anchorage will ever be available again maybe for coal or dobloons?

Sadly I missed both of them and would like to get my hands on the Odin.

Thanks

i hope not, if you missed something get over it, you missed it. why should everyone be entitled to everything? i'd like the iwaki alpha and arkansas beta too, but hey, i wasn't an alpha or beta tester, so nope.

Might see Odin and Anchorage returned in Santa crates next year. Like some other ships that went out of shop. Requires exceptional luck or a big wallet before these ships drop after you get all the Makarov, Yudachi’s etc...

It was announced that some special ships will not be available in next years Santa loot boxes like the GC and the Kamikaze trio. Maybe they will be replaced by former DY ships.

As for PR... might be gone like Smolensk and soon the T10 Swedish FXP dd. But then, I will also never get my hands on Arkansas or Iwaki.

I am pretty sure they will all make a comeback in one form or another.

What's the problem with being able to, after some time, pay for a ship you couldn't/wouldn't get back in the day IF she wasn't removed for gameplay/balance reasons? He's not asking for a Missouri, FFS.

The problem is timed events are a tool to keep people engaged, that does not work if you can get the reward of timed events at any time later. As for premiums being made unavailable, they do that with ships that became too popular, to avoid T5 games with 8 kamikazes and T10 games with 8 thunderers and 6 smolensks. The whole purpose of removing ships is so you see less of them as time goes by. You'll still see thunderers 2 years from now but you won't see half a dozen of them in every game

I do seem to recall WG saying last year during the PR event that they would eventually make her available again "through other means". My guess? Something along the lines of Neustrashimy and Flint, where you can get them for an existing resource (coal / steel) but it's VERY expensive and you can't use a coupon to get a discount. Time will tell.

Why was neustrashimy even removed rather soon, it certainly wasn't too popular, haven't seen one in weeks.

In my estimation it was removed for the exact opposite reason - nobody was buying it, because it was a steel ship, and people rather opted to get Stalingrad, Bourgogne etc rather than it. It was (and probably still is) one of the rarest DD's in the game as a result. So, WG removed it, and decided to bring her back later, for coal.

Odin is a great ship. I do very well in her. I have a W/R of 89% in ranked, and 60% in randoms.

Maybe your clanmate didn't give her a chance? I reckon 100 or so battles in a ship are needed to make a proper assessment.

You haven't really missed anything. Anchorage is inferior to both Baltimore and Wichita, as is Odin to Bismarck and Tirpitz. I have both; only ever played Odin twice in randoms (for a mission) and Anchorage never.

Why do you want Odin? If you fancy torpedoes on a BB, Tirpitz is a better choice at that tier. If it's the torpedo and hydro combination, just get Pommern at T9 - a far superior ship tier for tier. Otherwise I see zero reason to obtain Odin over something like Massachusetts or Lenin.

If one hundred or so battles are needed to make a proper assessment of a ship, why are you assessing Odin as 'great' after less than thirty battles in her in randoms and ranked combined?

Your W/R in Odin is good, but the sample size is quite frankly too small to judge. Two losses in your twenty random games instead of two wins (well within the scope of random chance) and you'd be looking at a 50% W/R.

I've no reason to believe that, if I continue in this trend, that she won't still do well for me.

She gels very, very well with my playstyle.

As an aside, I have a 56% W/R in Viribus Unitis with about 130 battles played.

If I can make her work (and she's not a bad ship like others think), then I think I'll do fine in Odin.

Its most for the sense of collection. I am saving up coal for Pommern.

But might wait for Brandenburg if that ship is even still in development.

As I say, she's great. If you ever do get your hands on her, then I believe you'll love her.

I like to collect things that I find appealing. Also if I only collected ships in wows that existed I would be fairly limiting my self.

If WG stops making ships which never existed (like most of the RU ships), then I daresay that people will stop buying them.

I personally don't mind the paper ships only if they didn't come at the expense of real ships. For example that neither Renown or Repulse aren't yet in the game is a sin

I agree completely.

Renown and Repulse, and indeed, Rodney, the ship which did the lion's share of trashing the Bismarck, should be in game.
