I remember seeing some posts that one needs to have certain amount of battles to participate in ranked mode.  Here, posting this to disprove those thoughts that if you have only 30 battles or perhaps even less, you can enjoy the new ranked mode.

You need to finish the Service Record, atm 200 battles, any battle type except Training room counts there afaik ...

Thanks for the info.

Coop is not a skill determining factor for a player. How can WG count coop games is another numb question with i'm sure pretty dumb answers.

The Service record is there only to slowly introduce the player to different aspects of the game, commanders, signals, modules, ranked/scenarios/clans etc .... so not really anything to do with skill ...

I’m not talking about service record. This player has 2k plus coop games vs 30 random games and able to play ranked.

Then, bot is really the correct term we use here quite often.

Yup, we definetely would need some form of barrier to keep the worst people out of ranked, like minimum random games or something.

well, on the flip side, if a skilled player wants to get an alt account as fast as possible into ranked, there's nothing delaying that significantly as well ... pros and cons ... also since Ranked has different format to Randoms, using Randoms as a baseline is not indicative as well ...

But this account I posted is not alt account. People usually don’t play coop in their alt account.

As said, Randoms are not an indicator as Ranked is a different format ... that's like comparing winrate in Domination vs Standard Battle and trying to guess how the person will do in Epicenter ...

Yes he might be bad, but high barriers of entry will make Ranked an underpopulated mode ... there should be nothing preventing entry into the lowest League ... the higher ones are up to discussion as at the moment there is NO bar set other than number of battles (the new format still favors persistence). There I agree with you ...

Randoms is an indicator of how good of a player you are. Coop is not. Period.

The protected MM is pretty much Coop 2.0, with 80+% bots and like 4-8 humans sprinkled in at best. So i dont see the need for a reroll to play Coop.

I think an easy fix would be to add more leagues above Gold so that the Unicums can escape our clutches and then just complain to each other. It would also make them feel more special which they will like.

What do you think - we could go for Platinum league, but then maybe elevate to

  • the Super Awesome league,
  • Make WOWS Great Again League,
  • Pink Fluffy Unicums Dancing on Rainbows League, etc.

Basically add more levels and then everyone will find their level

Sounds nice to play with different people at your own level.

Maybe 10 or so leagues with a mechanism so you can go down again if needed  - could even be voluntary, i.e. I'd like to go back to silver please because gold is so super toxic

Dosnt fix the core issue: Botting to the top.

That one's easy, just make the rewards for each league the same, then there's no incentive to "bot to the top" whatever that means (forgive me noob ignorance)

Well its the law of the great numbers (not sure if that is the math. term in english): If you play enough matches (by yoloing) even if you have a 30% WR there exists a winning streak which will grant you rank 1.

Thats for me "botting to the top".

You really think many will bother with reaching higher leagues if there is no incentive?

So good players should progress higher and have to play more to get same rewards? Makes perfect sense, even worse than the current system, where you get barely more if you go to silver and gold league.

I definetely made the right call sticking to Bronze, because the other leagues are shitshows aswell... HF for those who went to gold, and now it will get worse every week till the season ends, because more and more potatoes will flood into gold (nothing is stopping them afterall) :cap_haloween:

I rather take my 400 steel per week in bronze, and tbh, thats already annoying to do every week. Again, way too much in such a short time.

Or we just didnt understand WGs next level thinking: Make a super grindy mode, so that all the bots are occupied in ranked rather than randoms :cap_hmm:

Sine this is both true, the barrier to be able to play ranked should actually be way higher than 200 games. Since new players, that spend the 200 games within the protected matchmaking, actually have no idea how the game really works, thanks to the fact, that you play 85% bots in that protected mm. Man WG, what are you guys doing with your game... If they could atleast program bots with a realsitic behavoir, so that they copy human playstyle - but as it stands right now, playing in the protected matchmaking doesnt help new players at all. Quite the opposite - it teaches them the wrong way of playing.

Isn't that the nirvana that the "skilled" players are clamouring for?

Nope, thats <50%ers who want SBMM because they think they deserve atleast 50% WR and they are being hold back by potato teammates and superunicum enemies.

If you want a proper ranked with different skill levels and harder to achieve rewards, then the rewards need to reflect the extra work needed. Currently, we have barely more rewards in higher leagues, with substentially more effort needed to get those rewards while there is no mechanic to hold up less capable players from reaching silver or even gold.

I think, going into gold league is really shooting your own foot if you are after steel, with every passing week, more and more potatoes will more into gold - and they wont be good players :cap_fainting:

Surely the incentive is to play against players of equal skill level.

We have 2 requests:

- to be rid of bots and sociopaths

- to be able to play games that are not ruined by patatos and glue sniffers

My motto for new ranked is:

-Play in bronze.

-Stay in bronze.

-Be bronze. :Smile_trollface:

This way I can get my steel easy without sweating in gold.

Thats exactly what im testing this season. Second week - I wasnt sure if I made the right decision. This week - its awesome. A walk in the park. In bronze, AFKers und Yoloers seem to be gone aswell (they have moved to silver+ with their dedication I guess xD). Easy and fast path to the rewards.

I think, the system still has a lot of flaws, that WG really needs to work on.
