That game is called wwiionline 😁

Its more a simulation than an arcade game and mainly about infantry, tanks and planes. But you can explore europe with your fairmaile b 😆

Or in a triplan Me109 :Smile_trollface:

Is it still alive, or did it die ? I left the ship ... 15 years ago ? out of desperation borne from the sorry state of the naval part of the game. FMB and broken Z39, yeah.

What you see: one giant representation of the pacific, with islands, convoys, dynamic weather, sunset and sunrise, fleet action, ...
What WG sees: Ocean map x 100 with perma cyclone and no limit on CVs

Only if all  WoWS battles were on a much expanded, in dimension/size, an Ocean Map. Will this happen? Highly unlikely.

As MP game? No.

If the battle is named "Battle for the Atlantic" and all your BBs on your team camp Leyte Gulf...no, no thx.

Singleplayer? Yes.

Could you see the general player population in WoWS having any clue as to 'ship tactics' in any game like Naval Action or Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts or any other tactical naval game title you can think of?

I suspect the WG game engine could handle bigger numbers of ships. Doesn't WoT already have a bigger number of players mode?

Clans, in general, would likely use proper ship tactics. This idea of a bigger map & bigger number of players does have some merit.

However, it is my opinion that most of the WoWS player population would fail in & ruin, completely, any larger sized ship battle mode that WoWS might devise.

A single player game akin to Silent Hunter might work. Just instead with subs, you would have surface ships.

But as a MP game? Not sure how you would want to do it. And larger overmap? With battles to choose from?

Just imagine the Ocean map 100km on a side,

10,000km2 of map with 24 ships.....

Even a CV would struggle..:cap_haloween:

To be honest it's not that hard to imagine - as a simulator.

Which WoWs is not.

My man, cvs are limited in training rooms cause the servers and the game engine dies. Smolensk and other very high shells per minute in smokes get shell tracer delay because the game cant keep up. Shell desync has been a massive issue recently.. . We are currently using the prehistoric Bigworld engine while wot has the bran d new Encore game engine. Things like like the exact degrees of the guns being shown on the reticule was removed from the ui for performance issues.

Not so much open world but I have been suggesting a crossover with turn-based strategy games, for clan battles. I think that was back when the Puerto Rico "disaster" was on. Or the Research Buro shitstorm. It would just make sense. Which is why WG will never go for it of course.

Nope.  But a single ship campaign - HMS Exeter, perhaps - sailing from an engagement with the Graf Spee in South Atlantic waters, to the Far East and a scenario battle with Japanese cruisers and destroyers.... we can but dream. :)

I can imagine camping with my battleship in San Diego during the battle of Midway.

Sounds good to me :cap_like:

Sure. Its pretty easy to Imagine really.

Create a Huge World Map that for a Fast DD takes about 1 Hour to Cross from Left to Right. (Meaning there is like 2-3 Minutes Travel Time between Ports on the Coast and about 20-30 Minutes to Travel from British to US Coast)

And then have Players Spawn there with their Ships as part of a Faction.

Players can Earn Currency to Upgrade and Improve their Ships as well as Buying new Ones in their Home Nations Ports. With Different Ports having different Upgrades and Ships for Sale.

And can then Venture Out to Fight each other in the Ocean.

Add to that Regular NPC Patrols and Fleets as well as Convoys so People have something to do.

Maybe Add some Missions to Escort such Convoys from 1 Port to another. Or Raid a Specific Convoy etc etc.

Also Add Control Points onto the Map which Provide Ressources to the Faction which is currently Holding onto them. As well as Providing Potential Repair and Resupply Points for Friendly Forces so one side can Advance closer to the other by Winning them.

As well as the Ability to Conquer Ports which will be Defended by NPC Ships, Coastal Batteries and Land Based Aircraft in Addition to whatever Players are in there.

Every Player can Choose only 1 Nation each Round. With a Round Taking maybe about 2-3 Days.

Maybe add to that. That Player can only keep 10% of their Earnings for the next Round. So you dont end up with most People Driving around T10s by Default after a while.

Voila. You have an Open World WoWs Gamemode which Works in a Similar Fashion to Planetside 2 where an Endless War between the Nations Rages.
