ST 0.9.12, BALANCE CHANGES AND CHANGES TO TEST SHIPS, REMOVAL OF SOMERS.

Balance changes of ships and removal of X SOMERS in update 0.10.2

Starting from 0.10.2 X SOMERS will become unavailable to obtain from the Armory for an undefined period of time. She will be replaced with another American ship - Tier X cruiser Austin.

We understand that accumulating resources for ships is a long process, which is why we wanted to warn you in advance, so that those interested can steer X SOMERS into their Ports before Update 0.10.2 goes live in approximately three months.

We've changed the characteristics of several ships, having analyzed their combat performance and taken player feedback into account. Such changes were required to carefully adjust the balance of selected warships. We'll continue to introduce changes in the updates that follow, if deemed necessary.

VIII KANSAS:

  • Sigma parameter was increased from 1.6 to 1.7;
  • Armor penetration of AP shells increased by roughly 3.5%.

IX MINNESOTA:

  • Armor penetration of AP shells increased by roughly 4%.

VIII TALLINN:

  • Armor penetration of AP shells increased by roughly 12.5%.

VIII ADMIRAL HIPPER:

  • Main battery reload time reduced from 11.5 to 11 s.

IV HŌSHŌ:

  • The number of torpedo bombers in a squadron lowered from 6 to 5;
  • The size of an attacking torpedo bomber flight lowered from 2 to 1;
  • The number of torpedo bombers on the deck lowered from 9 to 8;
  • Torpedo bombers restoration time increased from 59 to 71 s;
  • Maximum torpedo damage increased from 5,400 to 5,800.

IV LANGLEY:

  • Maximum torpedo damage lowered from 4,233 to 3,500;
  • The chance to cause flooding on torpedo hit reduced from 33% to 30%.

X MANFRED VON RICHTHOFEN:

  • Increased the area of dive bombers' aiming ellipse;

phpJbhlaH

  • Fixed an error that resulted in excessive slowdown when engine boost was used. The value is brought to standard.

VIII IMPLACABLE:

  • Maximum bomb damage increased from 5,300 to 5,600;
  • Chance of a bomb causing fire on a target increased from 30% to 32%.

X AUDACIOUS:

  • Number of rockets on standard attack aircraft reduced from 12 to 10;
  • Number of rockets on researchable attack aircraft reduced from 14 to 12;
  • Maximum bomb damage increased from 6,000 to 6,400;
  • Chance of a bomb causing fire on a target increased from 35% to 36%.

We adjusted the parameters of the following ships based on testing results.

VIII FEN YANG:

  • Main battery reload time increased from 4.5 to 5.2 s;
  • Changed parameters of AP shells:
    • Maximum damage increased from 1,700 to 1,900
    • The angle at which the check for ricochets is made for AP shells increased from 45 to 60 degrees;
    • Guaranteed ricochet angle for AP shells increased from 60 to 67.5 degrees.

New AP shells settings will allow for a more effective interaction with destroyers and cruisers when HE shells can't pierce their armor.

IV DANTE ALIGHIERI, V CONTE DI CAVOUR:

  • AP shells maximum damage lowered from 8,560 to 8,100;
  • Armor penetration of AP shells lowered by roughly 20%.

Please note that all information in the development blog is preliminary and subject to change during testing. Any showcased features may or may not end up on the main server. The final information will be published on our game's website.

Creating hype for an overpriced Somers. It will probably find its way into the loot boxes. No loss.

It needed this.

VIII ADMIRAL HIPPER:

Good, except Minnesota. People will camp even more now.

Nice :Smile_trollface: Although they could have done this long time ago.

phpJbhlaH

I'm not sure about this ellipse change. The maximum amount of citadels i got with MvR was 3, while I can do 5 cita in one salvo with Enty dive bombers.

VIII IMPLACABLE:

  • Maximum bomb damage increased from 5,300 to 5,600;
  • Chance of a bomb causing fire on a target increased from 30% to 32%.

Not sure if this is the cure or a sip of the cure for Implacable.

X AUDACIOUS:

  • Number of rockets on standard attack aircraft reduced from 12 to 10;
  • Number of rockets on researchable attack aircraft reduced from 14 to 12;
  • Maximum bomb damage increased from 6,000 to 6,400;
  • Chance of a bomb causing fire on a target increased from 35% to 36%.

Number of rockets are reduced because DD lives matter.

Not sure about the slight buffs.

So the question is is the Somers gone "for good" or just turned into coal?

Undecided. Might come back for steel or another resource(Please no RB lmao)

Also finally some Hosho nerfs

About damn time WG took a step against low tier sealclubbing in that thing.

That thing is disgusting. Even me, who has no idea how to play CVs could easily dab on anyone left right and center while grinding Ryujo.

Don't care about Somers.

Might pick up Kansas after the next buff (in 6 months).

Just as I sold Tallinn for being an unplayable POS! Might not bother, though. I like fast firebugs, soviet CA seem the most boring thing on the planet.

I'm sure MvR is useless now and Audacious will dominate the skies (hint: nope).

Oh and as to Hosho and Langley... took you long enough!!

Finally we get proper Hosho nerfs, it only took a couple years  :Smile_great::Smile_great::Smile_great:

Also the first of many MVR nerfs are happening. Meanwhile weakest T-X CV nerfed too, because reasons.

USN BBS really needs the love and so do the Hipper.

Nobody cares about Somers anymore since CVs are allowed in CB so it had to go. Better milk the steel before its too late!

I wonder what they did to the Akizuki clone Fen Yang. It now gets sAP as well as HE? Sounds very interesting indeed!

Hmm, so the question becomes: get Somers now, or go ahead as planned and skip that one alltogether to grab the FDR...

I have 70 games in Somers in my alt account and I'm glad i didn't get it on my main account. In other words, not having Somers is not a loss really especially if you have other DDs including Shima and when you think its steel price tag. FDR however, seems like a more annoyingly fun ship to torment enemy teams.

Or the Austin, which could be interesting with that 75% reload booster...

Ah that's thrown my plans out a bit, I had planned to get the Plymouth once the new discount coupon arrived, now I have to decide if I want the Somers pretty quickly.

Be interesting to see if the CV adjustments make any noticeable impact, mind you I'm so useless in the Audacious I doubt I will notice any change there.

Austin has almost double the reload time of shells, weaker HE but SAP, 75% RB, Fletcher torps and 30K HP pool with standard heal in comparison to Worcester's 45.5K HP and radar.

Sounds like a mutated higher tier Anchorage with different gimmicks (and ofc without the smoke or radar).

Interestingly this time there is no reasoning about the Somers being not popular, or too popular, or OP. Also they don’t mention that it is coming back for coal.

I’ve already grinded the Kansas and will finish the Tallinn in a couple of days. Might play them later as I have the perma camo.

The CV adjustments were highly due.

FINALLY someone in WG realizing and accepting the fact that the near guaranteed Double CV in T4 games (often T3 as well) with an 80% chance of one of the CV's being Hosho and 50% chance of the CV's being a Hosho and Langley combo have become all but unplayable. Unfortunately they will never hard cap CV's to 1 per game (which they should across the board) so this is probably the next best thing we are going to get.

So Summers gets packed into loot boxes, CVs get buffed, and Tallin gets buffed.

Hm.

Oh well, I'm definitely getting Somers then: I'm not expecting greatness, but she's the only steel DD. It's also a minor consideration that I don't want to spend eternity in the afterlife with demons poking me in the happy sacks with their pitchforks (which is what'll happen if I pick the CV instead)...!

Hosho- and Langley nerfs should have come a year ago. Cant tell me they didnt have "sufficient data".

There rarely was a game without 2 of these per side and also there was jack sh1t you could do against them with literally zero or near-zero AA across the board.

I wonder how many new players left forever after getting repeatedly asskicked by sealclubbers in their 19pt-Hoshos.
