Hi, i'm F2P player and have 2300 dubloons. I want to buy 2 medium Santa crates to unlocking Premium ships. Is it worth to get?

Gambling is always... well... gamble... :Smile_hiding:

Here is the statistics for this year "Santa's Crates":

As you can see the medium Santa's Crates are not that good...

You're very unlikely to get even a single Premium ship from just the two Santa crates (of any type). Better to spend the doubloons directly on a ship in the Armoury, you should have a 25% discount coupon either now or (if you've used this one already) in six days' time to help you make the most of your doubies.

Edit: Just remembered, if you use coal to buy the Shipbuilding Collection crates and complete that, the overall prize is a Santa's Big Gift crate, so you can get that one without spending doubloons. If you're lucky, you can get a Makarov...

The data kindly collected by some very hardworking forum members as linked above would suggest it’s not worth it.

It’s very rarely worth taking a gamble on loot boxes and it amazes me that people do at all.

Firstly, don’t buy them just for ships. If you aren’t at least moderately happy with special flags.

Secondly, you are paying roughly £17 per ship. If you are only missing a couple of rare tier 9 ships, buying some crates is absolutely worth it.

If however, you are missing all the tier 6 ships in your inventory, you might be disappointed as you are far more likely to receive low tier ships rather than high tier.

I believe they are some of the best value you can get for doubloons. In 2018 I more than doubled the money spent just in ship value while also receiving premium time, special flags, freeXP and doubloons.

WG sees Santa crates as a way to extract money from gambling addicts. They rigged the system to give you undesired ships first, so that you would continue to buy more. They only worth it if you are a whale ready to spend hundreds of dollars to get a rare ship. In my opinion, no ship worth that much money. Missouri is just a worse heal Iowa with radar. The economy benefits do not matter if you are a whale. Giulio Ceasare and the Kamikaze ships are tier 5. Do you see yourself playing much on tier 5?  The Enterprise is easier to get from Summer sale CV crates, if you have the other three premium CVs. Also the drop chances for a ship in general are quite low. There were guys getting one ship from 40 crates. It’s much better to spend doubloons directly to get the ship of your desire.

Would you be happy with 2 packs of Frosty Fir camo?

You might get 2 ships, but you are far more likely to get 2 drums of camo.

as F2P you are probably most interested in premium time, but it has low chance to drop, just like ships

Depends, how much do you want economy flags with a 12% chance of getting a ship and knowing it will be a makarov unless you already have one?

Gambling with crates for a small chance of a rare extinct ship may be worth it for players who have a ton of max level captains, a ton of meta ships etc. A new player is much better off buying premium time and grinding out a few meta tech tree ships so they have tools in every tier/class for all upcoming clan and ranked seasons.

The way I suggest starting out is pay for premium time, get one meta T5 destroyer, one good T5 cruiser and one good T5 battleship. Repeat for T6, T7 etc. When you have one good ship in every tier and every class, you can compete in all content wargaming releases. Then I would buy currently available good premiums you like. Only after that would I suggest gambling with crates for extinct meta ships.

Do you have a konigsberg? Amazing T5 cruiser. Budyonny at T6? Sinop at T7? Baltimore at T8? Kitakaze at T9? Fiji, North Carolina, Lightning, Gadjah Mada? Many of the best ships in the game are in the tech tree, you can get these reasonably quick with premium time. Spend your 2300 doubloons on that. You really want to go down the tech tree lines to get the best stuff there first for your fleet. Wargaming is pretty fair in that sense, much of the best ships aren't locked behind RNG crates or mastercard.

If you look in the Armory under "Coupons", you'll see that you are about to receive a 25% off Ships For Doubloons coupon - should drop in 5 days or so. There's a similar one for Coal.

If you keep your 2300 doubloons and wait for the 25% voucher then the balance for Massachusetts or Tirpitz is 7500 doubloons - £21. You could spend four/five times that amount on Santa crates and not get something that good.

Wow. How do 2300 dubloons find their way into the pockets to a F2P player who has started playing 2 months ago and stopped playing 3 weeks ago? :Smile_amazed:

Maybe OP stumbled upon a wreck of one of WeeGee's Doubloon galleons that left Puerto Rico for Cyprus last Scummas? :Smile_trollface:

Anecdotally, BTW (based on my own findings) if you buy Satan crates at all, buy them the first day as the pickings get reduced to scraps very very quickly.

Unless the Sims B on his alt account dropped from a free container, "F2P" is pretty much BS anyway.

Well, depends how you understand F2P. Complete F2P or someone who reverted to a F2P status.
