Rework small Santa gifts to feel more rewarding on Snowflake event

Im sure that many of you already know how poor loot is from small  (or medium?) Santa crates and we get most of the time 4x XY camo or 50 flags.

What we need is to rework this for TX ship for update 0.9.12, in order to boost mood among players to actually play the game to get rewards and to feel rewarded but not with few camos and flags.

I heard that for last Christmas (when I was away from game) you (weegee) gave players 150 Steel per TX ship.

To me that reward sounds way more useful compared to few camos and 50 flags, and im sure that many, if not most of the player base would want this system to be possibly back to 150 Steel per TX or something else.

Because frankly, many players wont even log into game for dogshit loot like these small Santa crates that have no value at all.

 

This is Christmas. It doesn't have to be SC per TX but also it doesn't have to be the lowest loot possible.

 

What do you guys think? Are you happy with this current ''gift'' crate that we are about to get in next update or you want rework?

WG don't believe they've done anything wrong and that, as the Xmas crates have been the same since 2018, it's OUR fault if WE are disappointed and want a refund - so with that in mind there is zero chance in hell that WG will tweak the Santa's Gift crates for increased items or increase the T10 crate to a "Big" crate instead, no way at all.

Big as Mega crate? That one gives 2 or 4k doubloons? I dont think people ask for that much increase, but more Steel or at least medium crate (big one, not smallest) would be sufficient.

The biggest problem of special crates (not just Christmas ones, too) are camos. They seem to be treated like special (various dragon kinds) signals in terms of value but they just aren't. The really special camos might be another thing, but even the good normal camos (+100% xp AND SOMETHING MORE) are hardly in short supply, most are ugly AND the packs of just a couple are laughable either way. 4 dragon-ish signals (aside from the green ones that only give credits) would always be a nice consolation prize. 50 normal signals are meh but (usually) something you feel you'll end up having some use of some day. 4 camos? "Oh, another empty container".

Free stuff is free stuff, I guess, but - as I've said in other threads - it seems a bit weird that T8-9 get a more useful reward (for a lot of players anyway) than the T10s do.

 

Mind you, I have opened a couple of freebie basic crates already this year and both had a few hundred doubloons in - that's better than a sharp kick to the happy sacks. I suppose one might even get a ship if you have a *lot* of T10 ships, although that's pretty unlikely (or entirely unlikely in my case, as I've got all the crate premiums already).

We used to have much better rewards but some cried out that WG is handing out too much free stuff so now we have nothing

I would love this option but that would be a ton of free steel and thus devalue it a bit.

Sorry to break this to you but the free crates have an even lower drop rate then the paid ones.

In their eyes this was a communications error, in ours it was a deliberate attempt to mislead the community. This combined with their rare ship removals created scarcity thus increasing the desire of said rare ships ensuring people would spend more to get what they wanted. Is it Illegal? Im not a lawyer or a judge so I can only give an opinion on the matter. Is it a scumbag move? Oh yeah it is.

but that's a point: Why is it an issue this year? It was obvious already during the last years, especially before the change in 2019 (with the removal of duplicate ships) because  players owning all possible ships got always the same ships as duplicates then...I found a list where I got 6 ship drops in a single bundle of 20 of the biggest boxes, and it was 6 times the same ship...

At my workplace (auto service and tyre fitting) customers can get free coffee, tea, espresso, hot chocolate etc.. There is free mineral water too, often there is also tin of (free) biscuits

Some take a coffee, some have tea and maybe a biscuit or two, some don´t bother with either coffee or tea and just wait.

 

One thing tho, in 20 years I never heard any customer complain about these free beverages

Tier 10 snowflakes gave small santa gifts last year. Steel was for t8-9, same as this time. Supercontainers for t10’s was always for the anniversary event.

 

Ofc, the crappy nature of the small santa gift crates means that t10’s give worse rewards than t8/9. WG logic.

originally snowflakes were giving 200 steel per premium, 100 per silver ship if I remember correctly...

200 for T8-T10 premium ships, 100 for regular T10 and 50 for T9.

 

 

So basically level of the steel for regular ships remained the same as instead of 150 steel for T9/T10 per line, we are getting a 150 for T8/T9 per line, so there is no loss there (if we disregard the fact that during 2018 snowflake event there were two more T9 which are now not present, Taiho and Essex). It is amount of the steel for premiums that changed drastically. But considering number of T8-T10 premiums that were added since 2018, that is understandable. Sure any amount of steel for T10 would be better than those Santa Crates but free stuff is still a free stuff so .... yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
