Hello!
Seeing as bot h of these ships are getting removed, which one would you buy (assuming you have neither)?
Simple poll included, opinions welcomed!
Thank you.

Have both, hands down the Georgia. Have a ton of fun OP games in her on my channel. Thunderer - zero games.....and not for a lack of trying.

@Shiplife

This is an extremely difficult decision as both are really good ships;

I personally don't have the problem as i already have Georgia and i'll get Thunderer in 10 days (not because i need coal, because i want to get her in a launch day before the coupon reset and HMS Rodney's launch day in Dec. 17, so i choose that date).

I'voted for Georgia, i have her since she got released and she hasn't let me down since.

I'll say: if you want to play an OP ship get Thunderer, if you want to play a FUN ship, get Georgia.:fish_cute_2:

Well...they are totally different ships. I have both...but depends on your game play style Georgia is a very fast ships (can reach 40 knts) and she is deadly in a short medium range thanks to the very good secondaries and extremely high damage per salvo. On the other slhand due to the very bad dispersion is almost useless for long range fights and she catches fire very easily.

Thunderer, is not that fast but is great for long range fights, thanks to her great accuracy, damage with AP shells as well as with HE shells (beside the high dmg she has 66% of fire chance per salvo), and has also AA defence boost that makes her a nightmare for all enemy planes and the secondaries are pretty normal with 6olkm range (Georgia can have up to 11.3 km).

Choice is yours.

Thunderer is a boring sniper, oftentimes with zero impact on the game. AP Thunderer is better in that regard.

Georgia, on the other hand, can be great fun. I have her secondary speced and she's alright, sometimes great.

I voted Georgia, because i hate seeing 4 Thunderers every game, shitting HE from 24km. Then they are probably bored to death because they dont hit anything, rush ahead, and die within 1 minute :cap_fainting:

I have both ships and very much enjoy both ships. However, you must remember that the Commander rework is coming where secondary builds are seemingly going to be nerfed and many people kit out the Georgia as a secondary ship to take advantage of their commanders for Massa, for example.

In light of WG's abaility to make a dog's breakfast of any and all changes to the game, I'd suggest the safer choice would be the Thunderer as it is fairly basic and uses both AP and HE well whereas the Georgia is more specialised vessel.

Enjoy whichever ship you decide to buy! :-)

Good fun ship vs borderline OP but boring to play, unless your playstyle involves alt-tab and youtube or other websites that may or may not be nsfw.

I bought the Thunderer first, but have more battles in the Georgia.

For entertainment value choose the Georgia, for OP-like performance, choose the Thunderer.

Thunderer is a bit dull, to be honest. It's a bit of a Nelson - deals out lots of damage, can't take it. If "park up and spam" sounds fun, get that one. Georgia looks more exciting but I don't know how often you'd get to brawl with the all the Thunderers about.

I will get Thunderer as soon as the coupon comes through. I so have Georgia

I would probably opt for Georgia, even if Thunderer is easier to play (and probably currently better suited to my play level).

I have the Thunderer and when my Coupon resets I'll get Georgia... My friend, who has both, rates Georgia over Thunderer but he said it is a close call.

I got them both, Thunderer first, Georgia I only got recently. Before I played them I would have said Thunderer was the better ship. Now that I experienced them, I think Georgia is the better ship. I so far am more successful in Georgia. I like playing the Georgia way more than the Thunderer.

The Thunderer is a bit boring. I end up spamming HE most of the time. Also the Thunderer cannot tank well. That means it cannot stand its ground and thus not fulfil a BBs primary purpose to exert power. Thunderer is not suited for the BB-role as much as a Kleber is not suited for capping or an Azuma is not suited for cap-support. In return the Thunderer depends on its team. It needs other ships to keep the enemy team at a comfortable distance, it folds if pushed. The flaws become obvious in Ranked, where Thunderer is the choice of the star-keepers with bad winrates. You can farm damage in it. A good player will use it to win the game by the excessive amount of damage it deals. It's the perfect tool for a bad BB-main, sitting in the back and abusing his team to tank and spot, while having his damage counter go up.

The Georgia surprised me. It's like a child of Jean Bart and Massachussetts. It combines the mobility of Jean Bart with the secondary bubble and healing power of the Massachussetts. It's tankiness is a bit weak, when you try to use your rear turret and secondaries, but Thunderer is worse. In Thunderer I once got devstruck on the cheek by a Stalingrad at 25° angle.

Thunderer excels at doing what I hate to do, sit in the back, slowly wear down the enemy team and hope that your team makes the right moves on the frontline. Depending on your team mates is the horror of every good player. That is why I rarely play Thunderer, only on days when I go into potato mode and want a ship that doesn't require a lot of thinking. Georgia I love, cause it enables me to do, what every good BB-players wants to do, exert influence, be where the action takes place, where the battle is won or lost.

On top of that both ships differ in economy. Georgia rewards good play with good earnings. Thunderer does not punish bad play with high cost.

tl;dr Georgia wins games. Thunderer farms damage.

Very well put. I used to be scared of Thunderers when playing other BBs. After having learned to play against them, not so much. They are super weak particularly in the end game, as they are a. too far from the action in the end to affect the outcome or b. a free dmg pinata if close to the action, due to their squishiness.

In your place, I would save Coal.  But thats just me.

@arttuperkunas  Thunderer easy to delete when you play against it, but Georgia must more easier to delete. You can almost one shot Georgia. Did that with Missouri.

I get the feeling that some of the guys trashing the Thunderer never loaded AP with it and tried to play it like a Conqueror  .

12.3km concealment with 8x457 AP loaded guns having supercruiser accuracy , that's what thunderer is about .

I've had both georgia and thunderer on my old account and between the 2 i prefer the consistency of thunderers guns over georgias secondaries .

Tankiness wise both are pretty similar with fast recharging heal , only advantage i see for georgia is it's capability to redeploy wherever she's needed with its shy of 40kts speed boost .

+1 Thunderer as seen in me getting it a 2nd time .

Well, I did refer to the Georgia as an idiot test for broadsiders and Yolo-ists earlier in the thread :P. I don't disagree with your assessment.

Mine both mainly live in Coop, due to a distressing shortage of being DDs, apart from the recent 'Pommern' Ranked season, where GA was glorious.

I personally would pick GA first:

  • She's a bit more unusual, and fun, being a secondary-orientated BB (and the engine boost is glorious).
  • She's the better earner.
  • Thunderer is basically the same play-style (at least to a non-BB connoisseur) as several other things.

From a practical perspective, the main thing Thunderer has going for her is that she's T10, and - as such - eligible for the bulk of competitive events. Whether or not that matters to you will depend on preference, and which other things you already have.

Fixed that for you.

MVR eats Thunderers for breakfast, just like any other BB or big cruiser.

Also on topic:

Thunderer dont fit my playstyle (too boring) so i never played mine. I dont have Georgia, but I know I will like her and look forward to pick it up in another 40k coal.

It doesnt matter if you are yolo or broadsider or not. Sooner or later she will show a broadside to someone, and that can delete her if that is high caliber BB player that can aim.

I said this many times but, Georgia is the worst BB in the game for me. Especially on T9 next to my newest addition (and new favorite) - Jean Bart B which is very on top of its tier.

IF I could I would sell Georgia for -50% of price, like real Black Friday event to someone :Smile_coin:

I don't disagree = I agree with you.

Personally, I quite like the Georgia, but it is very fragile. That said, find it much more fun to play than any of the tech tree T9 BBs.

Sorry, somehow I read your comment ''I disagree with you'' :Smile_hiding:

Yup, and being fragile is not my thing to play. When I play a BB I expect some tankiness, because that is their purpose, being tank in the teams.
