Dear WG,

As you will have noticed, another PR disaster is unfolding.

However, this one is easily fixed and turned into something will generate a lot of goodwill, which is a very valuable commodity. Just follow these simple steps:

1. Apologise for the Santa gift short list business.

2. Suspend sale of Santa gift items.

3. Re-code drops to be without the short list.

4. Give everyone who has bought a Santa gift under the previous rules this season another with the new drop rules.

5. Resume selling Santa Gifts.

6. Profit!

My fellow players, please feel free to tear this idea to bits as is traditional.

And from experience we know WG is going to try to shove both feet into their mouth by ignoring it, lying to the players, and maybe even insulting us.

Don't expect anything from them and you won't be disappointed.

They do have a terrible habit of doing that kind of stuff, yes.

However, arwful cliche but this can be Win/Win if they want ...

A company like WG is never going to flat out admit what they did, because they know it's wrong and admitting it opens them up to legal problems.

They are going to say something along the lines where "they are sorry we feel that Santa boxes don't live up to our expactations"
See what they do?  They are basicly telling us its our fault/problem that we have issues with them without admitting they are in the wrong here.

It's legal 101 for game developers, never admit anything, make it the players fault/problem and say how sorry you are about the players feelings.

They ain't gonna admit sh*t.

You ain't gonna get sh*t.

If they cared they would have done something by now. They don't give sh*t about this.

They wanna whale out as much money as possible and they gonna ban everything related to this.

Just for the hell of it they are gonna give everyone a Makarov for free if they claim it on the website and if you already have one you will be compensated with equal dubs and that's it.

Hmm..

1. Apologise for the Santa gift short list business.

Never gonna happen

Have you ever bought any IRL  item from an IRL Russian ?  (car, outboard engine, bike, car radio, tennis racket)

If so you would know how they traditionally do business..

Man of his word  ?

2. Suspend sale of Santa gift items.

Not likely

Quote

3. Re-code drops to be without the short list.

No need

Quote

4. Give everyone who has bought a Santa gift under the previous rules this season another with the new drop rules.

Haha..

Quote

5. Resume selling Santa Gifts.

Resume, no need..

6. Profit!

Yeah.. They will be laughing their heads off all way home:Smile_veryhappy:

No I don't think it is.....They would have to do something very special to re Establish trust to the player base.

Its not like this is the first time they have been deceitful and I don't think a Few tokens here and there will cut it this time.

Trust is easy and quick to loose. Very hard to get back.

More likely they will apologize for our misunderstanding of their 'generous' offer, do nothing and know that the majority of the community will forget all about this in 4-6 weeks time when the next shiny bauble is dangled in front of us.

Sorry to be pessimistic but knowing this community people might complain but they never learn.

Very true and that's why something like my idea is needed as a minimum. My way, everyone get's what they thought they were buying in addition to the stuff they have got already and WG would would very likely to make more money than if they follow their usual ... practices.

I think it's very unlikely WG will be that sensible but there is no reason they can't salvage this situation if they want.

BTW, I havn't bought any of those crates so have no dog in the fight.

From previous experience I see it going down something like this:

  • Blame playerbase for "not understanding / reading correctly"
  • Blame it on a translation issue
  • Blame playerbase because it would not have been an issue if you had simply spent more
  • Something nebulous gets blamed
  • Spreadsheet says the crates are working as intended

Whatever happens, it wont be WG's fault and WG wont have anything to apologise for thus no compensation for you.

Merry Christmas to all our players :Smile_trollface:

OP must be new here, he clearly doesn't understand how WG works. If he sticks around long enough,  he will tho.

In my country, we'd use the term "slaughtering the product". Who cares about possibly bad PR as long as people are buying crates like crazy and the profit is up. If you can make a great deal now, it's ok if the game is dead in 2 years!

I've been around off and on since just after the game was released so I'm well aware of how WG usually handle things.

However, it doesn't have to be that way. It is in their rational self interest to sort this out. Whether they can behave rationnally remains to be seen...

More like a golden opportunity for insulting the player base even more by censoring Twitch and creating another textbook example how to anger your customers by declaring: Working as intended, we need more cash, nothing to see here....

On the other hand WG has created a tradition of creating a PR disaster for every Christmas, so we should cherish the long held tradition. Please join me in remembering the Christmas convoy!

They have neither the will not the skill to act in their rational self interest. Win-win is not in their dictionary. Forgive them, they know no better.

Any idea about what time will the WG "announcement" be?

Today supposedly "Monday" was mentioned in the twitch stream. May have been an attempt to shut all the trolls down so they could carry on unhindered.
