[S-E] FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor Players 3,532 posts 29,240 battles Report post #1 Posted December 5, 2020 So we have a "scam" that Wargaming pulled in more or less the same form every year ever since introducing Satan Lootboxes. Only in the past years, the best-known streamers and youtubers celebrated the event despite the insincerity and the money-grabbing, opening dozens, even hundreds of crates live on their streams, showing themselves to be super happy with the results, uploading all that to youtube. To the extent that at least one of them completely ignored an event that, in contrast to the shortlist hypothesis, absolutely 100% proved that the mechanics of the ship drops did not work the way they were advertised in the rules. (The shortlist hypothesis is based on probabilities, which makes it very likely, but you still cannot prove a negative, I'm sorry to say.) For the details on that 2019 fail, I refer you to my earlier post in the big thread. https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/144252-santa-containers-rigged-wg-chooses-your-santa-gift-ship/?do=findComment&comment=3716446 The biggest and most important thing that changed this year is that the most important and well-known streamers chose to make a big meal out of this unprovable "scam," wheras they, and everybody else that mattered, happily ignored definitive proof of irregularities in the past. Coincidentally, this occured just in time to turn the stream of the Verizon Tournament into a sewer of mockery and abuse. It sure does look like a powerplay to me. 8

[S-E] FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor Players 3,532 posts 29,240 battles Report post #4 Posted December 5, 2020 I mean I'm not judging here. Much. WG has way too much power and the WG marketing department doubly so. It was high time they got at least a little come-uppance. And the fake sincerity of Flamu repating over and over again how he's "taking one for the team" by buying more and more lootboxes (all of which he openly told his cheering lemmings in the same breath he claims as tax deductibles) - that was straight up funny. More fun than I got out of the game proper for a long time, to be sure. I do believe the streamers and youtubers are genuinely unhappy with the way things are going at WG and with WoWs, first and foremost the CV rework of course but also all the other BS, Russian Bias, cash grab here, dumbing down there... it shapes their existence and they are not happy with that shape. And they might just have come to the conclusion that while resistance may be futile in a frontal attack, i.e. where the actual substance of the game is concerned, with WG straight up refusing to listen to reason - at the same time, WG's own greedy scams are opening up all kinds of flanks. Truly a worthy play. I still wish they'd have used their influence to organize player resistance and boycotts though, that sort of thing. But in this predatory-capitalist world, it would seem one has to be content with scraps and appreciate the little things.

CCs and Youtubers did what it's suposed to do, aware people of frauds like this. Why did they aired everything so fast? CCs and Youtubers aren't happy with WG? Ask your russian friends about NDA of new ships, or forcing them to remove anything similar to WoWs logo at their merch. As we say in my country, "vengance is a dish that is served cold". WG caved their own grave, in my oppinion, and the same is doing with their costumers.

Seems his math stopped at 1st grade. Well it's not like you don't have a chance to get every one of those 107 premiums. It's just that some of them were preselected to be the first to drop. Is it a scam ? No ... as proven by the drops, you can get other ships. Is it honest ? Hell no. But since they don't disclose the drop chance for each ship, all we can to is not give them money until they realize the path they chose is not the correct one. 1

[CUPID] TruePhoenix Players 266 posts 12,724 battles Report post #23 Posted December 6, 2020 There is some truth in what the OP has written. Its been very noticeable over the past few months that some major streamers have been (after building careers upon the back of) scathing of WoWs. Some are opening talking about cutting or reducing WoWs content and moving to other games, so a "false flag" event, such as a scam alert would help their own agenda. I really don't care what motive they have or why its suddenly become a big thing (the whole santa box thing has always worked this way) and if some wish to use it as a lever to take their audience elsewhere, so be it, its just a stream after all. It's just a shame said vloggers are using the same underhand techniques that they are accusing WG of using. I'm no fan of WG or their business model but if I find it too offensive, I'll just walk away quietly, no one would be interested in why I walked. Unless of course I need an audience.... 4

Everybody who's been playing for couple years knows already those containers are rigged.
