I doubt it's actually illegal anywhere, I can't imagine them being thick enough to not have the legal department look into it before going ahead with it. It is however very much riding the gray area. And of course, the way it's presented versus the reality is simply a scummy move towards customers.

Companies break the law all the time. Partly from malice, but mostly from incompetence or indifference, or because the expected sanctions are so low that this kind of due diligence check is not worth it. This is particularly the case in the lovely world of e-commerce, advertising and gaming.

The fact that other parties are breaking the law as well doesn't make it okay, however, and the authorities/courts will act so long as someone has the testicular fortitude to take the case to the end and the company doesn't settle. Usually, in the end, they settle, because most companies will not take a loser case to court.

so many wrongs yet i missed your arguments somehow?

You think that WG made shortlist of 3 ships out of pool of ~130 and expected that players wont find out? Problem at WGs is that DEVs and PR don't even talk the same language, they create something and fail to deliver it in a comprehensive way to customers. Does not make them any less wrong

My main argument was not the situation about the loot boxes but what players expectations are they should be like, because i am pretty sure i wont like full RNG boxes compared to current ones at all.

If you missed the obvious, that is not my fault, but you still appear to be missing the obvious. Yes, it makes them wrong and I'm pretty sure player expectations include fairness, not blatant manipulation. Just because something is easily visible doesn't mean it was intended to be easily visible....perhaps they simply underestimated the storm it would cause. Full RNG would be more fair than this mess, it's meant to be RNG anyways. If you want to have outcomes manipulated for you the way they did it here then that's your choice, but I'm pretty certain a lot of people feel cheated and lied to. Why do you have such low standards or expectations?

So far the only authorities that bothered to act were the Belgian ones in clarifying what is ok and what is not ok. Without clarification of the laws it's going to be damn hard to prove whether what's going on is actually illegal. As I said, I am very much against this crap, and it should be illegal and maybe is. But the people that are acting as if this is obviously against the law and will be an open-and-shut case need to stop living in fairyland. If this will ever end up being investigated or go to court, it will be a long, drawn out affair that's going to end up in ages of back and forth legal technicalities.

For anyone holding their breath for a WG Response today. The only official information we have is that they will ADDRESS the issue with the devs today. Not that an announcement is happening today.

Ladies & Gentelmen,

Took a while to clean up a lot of pages.

If you are observant enough, I've cleaned up only personal fights and insults and foul language

A lot of posts had to be removed due to rule violations.

Please continue discussing the subject freely, let it out If you are frustrated over this issue.

But please keep in mind,

- you do not have a right to insult other people

- you do not have a right to insult each other over arguments,

- keep the offtopic posts out of it.

- memes are great, memes are funny,

- do not discuss moderation

- do not share personal conversations you have with CS in the forum.

Rules are rules, and they are still in place....
topic is open again.

For a better understanding of rules :Smile_glasses:

Can we insult the nature for creating some specific people:cap_rambo:

So in other words you allow yourself getting scammed and treated as a sheep, but when the "issue is being adressed" you continue to pay? This is the main problem. People getting scammed and forgiving the scammers - until the get a russian reach around again. Everyone should immediately uninstall all of WG's crap and never look back. Does no one really wonder what is going on behind the scenes, if they try to scam their community that obviously and cheap on the surface?

If the issue is addressed, I see no reason not to spend money. If the issue is not addressed, I see no reason to spend money. Furthermore, I will not uninstall a game I enjoy playing. If I stop enjoying it, that is when I will uninstall it. That's that mr. Space Marine.

Smart move, offering a refund.

Most players are clueless and won't ask for the refund, and the ones who take it will have little reason to complain anymore.

A kinda win/dont-lose outcome I guess

Nope, cause WG does not see this as scamming.

All he stated was: we've always done it like this, but we do see that the communication change after 2018 might not have been the correct choice.

Aw man, just as I thought we shouldn't expect a response today.

Anyway. Good on WG for recognizing their mistake and offering a refund.

What the heck are you talking about ??? They didn't recognize anything... It's pure and simple damage control, because they are aware this is a major [edited]-up with legal ramifications. NOWHERE in the announcement you can see even a shred of admittance or guilt, its once again as i predicted the same "we are sorry that YOU are disappointed". [edited].

Refund and "sorry we disappointed some of you"" is the best they can do without legally admitting wrongdoing, which will open them up to lawsuits. I am happy with a refund option myself. Offering a refund in itself is the real "oops we fucked up".

It is up to us to keep WG honest each time such a poopfest occurs.

Id assume this NA server announcement is valid for EU and RU Regions as well.

Unless WG wants an even bigger PR disaster by treating the each server differently here.
